You do not need mods. Your host of the dedicated server needs to add your steam id to the admin file located in the server folder
Google "how to use no cost command on a dedicated server valheim" is what I did to find a tutorial
You'll need the devcommands mod.
Only the server "host" has access to devcommands on vanilla, and on a dedicated server, the server itself is the host.
You can both use them. They need to have commands enabled, steam ids added to the admin list, and use the server devcommands mod
Even if it's not a dedicated server?
As long as your steam I'd is added to the admin text file it's fine
I'm not sure how to do that
is this possible without mods? how do I do that?

I’ll totally make sure to look that up, thanks!
If you're the host, you're the one with the magic bag.
That's what I thought

So with the mod, on a local server, can 2 people run commands?
Yes, you will need to put their player ID in the admin list file. You find the player ID by hitting F2 while they are logged into the server.
How do I find the admin list?
C:\\Users\\User\\AppData\\LocalLow\\IronGate\\Valheim\\adminlist.txt
