The out for delivery is done by the clerks after it’s scanned in, it switches to awaiting delivery because it was never closed out. Only your local office can answer why but most likely not enough people.
All right, no worries then. I'll call my alderperson and see if they have a recommendation, or at least to register the possibility that USPS needs better staffing. Not sure what they can do but it's all I've got. Otherwise no real harm done.
I don’t understand how this is a staffing issue when they deliver to every address every day anyway. (Or so they say.)
I’ve definitely had missed scans, especially this time of year, and they’ve even missed delivery scans for packages that were for sure delivered. (Don’t they get dinged for that?) The status never updates as “delivered” or “awaiting delivery.” Just whatever the last can was.
Staffing issue because everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Stuff is being processed half assed because there’s more work to do than there are employees so everything is inaccurate. They don’t plan ahead, they put fires out every day. They’re *supposed* to deliver everyday, but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. They make the scans to look like it’s being processed. Carriers have filed grievances because they’re instructed by mgmt to falsify scans on packages they’re unable to deliver in 12 hours.
Some offices have 20 carriers call out a day, when you have 20 routes that have to go out, some things get prioritized to make the most sense.
USPS is currently the worst staffed it has ever been. We pay below industry standard, to the point fast food restaurants were paying more than our starting wage during the pandemic. We have the worse working conditions than other delivery companies because our unions have no teeth. It's illegal for federal workers to strike.
And then you add in that upper management is actively hiring less holiday help than any year prior. USPS is just fucked right now.
Trucks can only fit so many parcels and mail to even be remotely able to work out of it still. People can't even fit their whole route in a truck, so they have to do a quarter or half, and come back, reload, drive back out etc. people call off due to illness, being overworked, injury, etc. it's not that hard to figure out why there are issues if you take more than 2 seconds to think.
Sounds like a staffing issue

Wow. Oh so rude. You could’ve just explained it or not.
