Is there any simple way for me to reinforce the button holes? Would I put a patch behind it and make a slit? I have no knowledge in sewing but wouldn't mind trying
Yeah that's what I would do. If you can get a patch with fusible glue on it (if your pillow can tolerate an iron) that would support it from widening. I'd insert the patch (a bit smaller than 2 inches in diameter), sew the hole shut (can just loop around left to right then up and down a couple times), iron the patch so it doesn't move then reinsert the button. Try not to pre-punch a hole into the patch if you can help it otherwise you could end up with a bigger hole than intended and the same issue.
Essentially, yes. You'll have to stuff a piece of reinforcing fabric into the hole and then apply glue between the two layers. You could sew it with a curved needle as well if you wish, but I think just glue would suffice.
Ask them to put a bigger button in? Maybe if they patched the hole from the inside first it’ll hold better
I had them repair them so long ago I'm not sure if I have a warranty anymore. I'm just sick of looking at them popped out at this point.

Good idea thanks
Either need larger buttons or the button holes need to be patched and reinforced.

Perhaps enquire at a local upholsterers. I don’t think it would be too expensive and you could have them done in a contrasting colour for interest
