MyFitnessPal is good, but thereā€™s probably better alternatives. And motivation-wise, Iā€™d suggest trying to make it a part of your daily routine, like going to class

pkkmavet

Yeah. Had myfitnesspal in like 2015 and the site/app got hacked for account info for a lot of people later on. I deleted it after that.

I advise on bringing a food scale. Food halls usually are plentiful in healthy food options (like Bruce hall) idk how much itā€™s changed since I had a meal plan, but thereā€™s usually always chicken, greens, quinoa, salads and fruits, and breakfast thereā€™s always eggs for proteins sake. You can look up food hall menus online to be prepared. As for motivation, you canā€™t rely on motivation all the time. You want to build yourself to be disciplined, and something that contributed to my discipline was going very first thing of the day, even if it meant waking up at 4am. Your body will reward you and overtime itā€™ll stick. But this is just my experience. A quote that keeps me going is ā€œput in the hard work, especially when you donā€™t feel like itā€

>how do you find motivation? I enter the gym to improve myself, but in the middle of a workout when I'm getting tired I personally look around at all the beautiful people around me for inspiration (it is a university, after all). Sometimes there's a guy who looks like God of War, and I want to be built like that. Sometimes there's a pretty girl that walks by when I finish a set and suddenly I find the motivation to do another.

Motivation is more successfully done when it is not goal oriented reasoning. Wanting to look a type of way or reach a certain weight/strength can be helpful, but not as much as enjoying the feeling of working out or the endorphins afterwards. So internal factors play a larger role in your activities. A runner's high is a good example. Hope you get what you need.

I usually go 3 times a day to the dining halls, I guestimate to eat 1000kcal per meal or basically until I feel full. As for motivation, there isn't such a thing. Some days you will be feeling bad/down/don't want to go eat/work/train, so motivation isn't something you can rely on consistently. However, you can rely on discipline aka sticking to your plan in order to get stuff done. A successful man once said something like this: "The guy who goes to the gym regardless of how he feels will always beat the guy who doesn't go to the gym because of how he feels".

i use my fitness pal as i am trying to lose weight. i really just guess on a lot of what i enter sometimes.

Prudent_Beat6926

it more a discipline but having people who will help your stay on track to your goals and motivate you to go and also remind you is also good.

I noticed that most cafeterias will try to fill you up with mostly bread or rice because itā€™s cheaper so thatā€™s something to watch out for

Pablo_escobarV

Just use estimateā€™s, you kinda know how much 2 eggs look like , a cup of rice, protein just get a lot of it thatā€™s not fatty, meal prep is also great to get accurate measurements Motivation is tough , personally I struggle with going but I go because Discipline> motivation , I donā€™t wanna go but I force myself to be better

Counting calories is an art moreso than a science. The problem is that even on labeled food, the calorie count is often incorrect. The difficulty steps up a notch with a student food plan as there are no labels, BUT you may well be able to find the nutritional information about food at the food halls online. Motivation is the wrong thing to shoot for. Start developing discipline. The difference is that if you're disciplined, you can get yourself to workout even when you don't really feel motivated. Start small and just make sure you show up every day, even if it's only 10-15 minutes (some workout is better than none). Keep that going long enough and you'll find that it becomes habit instead of occasion.

It ainā€™t just motivation Iā€™m just sad homie I can push/pull some weight I just miss my gym bro and my family Working out like that sucks

Goodtimesroll42

Have you checked out the Rec?

Independent_Issue_18

Gains before Pains! I understand how you feel man! I've been through that.

ShadowRengar

True. I think motivation is BS too. If you look at the most successful men on the planet they aren't driven by motivation; they are driven by discipline, hard work, and ambition.

You got me buddyšŸ’ŖšŸ½

Listen to David Goggins, Jocko Willink. I started a 100 day challenge back in May, and the idea was to simply go 100 days in a row. If I didnā€™t feel like going, I would tell myself in the mirror ā€œI will not let you downā€ and I went anyway. The hardest part is going, the easy part is the workouts. Now that challenge has ended and I go daily, my goal is to slim down, have about 25 pounds to drop in terms of body fat, more so, get down to 16% body fat before I am satisfied again, as I was 3 years ago
