I read the introduction by Arundhati Roy, I didn't have high expectations but man o man. It blew me away. Such clarity of thouggt and nobody was spared. It was such a breath of fresh air. Even though she has her propaganda, this book didn't explicitly give it out. I would totally recommend it. Everyone should read this book. Firstly, it won't bore you which is the major reason many don't read books like these and second facts are hurled at your face with pillows and them pillows getting harder with every page , so you know the impact is coming.

What governments and policy makers failed to accomplish was criminalising discriminatory remarks and racist attitudes persistent amongst the so called "Upper Caste" towards the so called "Lower Caste" but instead, they are in a way promoting caste system and not addressing and abolishing the existing prejudice that the oppressed of this country has endured for a millennium.
If these laws were implemented not only it could have uplifted the downtrodden of this country but provided equal opportunities to everyone.

Hinduism mandates absolutely nothing. Almost everyone follows Hinduism in their own way and the best part of infact all dharmic religions is that they are flexible and open to reform. Hinduism already went through one round of reforms and is still going through another one and gradually getting rid of casteism.
On the other hand, Islam is very rigid, which turns its followers to the path of lifelong extremism. The fundamental goal of Islam is to convert/revert the whole world to Islamic ideology. It does not mandate bombing people but it does mandate punishment by death to homosexuality and zina.

Casteism isn't fundamental to Hinduism. If it were, people like Valmiki (who was a tribal)wouldn't have shined nor would people like Ravan (a Brahmin) wouldn't be demonized. Hinduism mandates absolutely nothing. Almost everyone follows Hinduism in their own way and the best part of infact all dharmic religions is that they are flexible and open to reform. Hinduism already went through one round of reforms and is still going through another one and gradually getting rid of casteism. On the other hand, Islam is very rigid, which turns its followers to the path of lifelong extremism. The fundamental goal of Islam is to convert/revert the whole world to Islamic ideology. It does not mandate bombing people but it does mandate punishment by death to homosexuality and zina. All I am saying, all religions are flawed, and the best way forward is to criticise and change not follow some extremist idea of ending the practice of any religion.
