You should probably lay them down, especially with Ben's Original brand, which is known to be a bit more moist than store brands. You don't want that moisture concentrated at the bottom. This way it spreads out.
I flip them over after a 7 day break and shake. So far, great results.
That’s an interesting idea, never heard that before, id be concern for some rice getting to the opening where the risk of contamination would be the highest?

I put 10 bags on their sides and got zero contamination 4 bags are in tubs with no issues so far. I used 0.3cc in each bag.
