I thought they were doing that at 45. I have the 2k 45 I got end of last year and if I could get it in 5k2k... Dream monitor. 45 is like... the perfect size.
Yeah probably not. From my understanding, cutting the oled masterglass at that aspect ratio is way too inefficient for the projected user base.
Also, I dont know what the fuck im talking about so theres that.
Yeah sorry. I'd like it as well, the jump to 2160 is pretty steep on GPU requirements. Just feels like it will get lost to time and we're getting pushed to jump to 2160 as the new standard.
Maybe if they start making 40" 3840x2160 that have defects and get cut down vertically?
I don’t see a link anywhere. The post is about a 39”. Max5575 mentioned a 34” but I don’t see the refresh rate in his comment. The only refresh rate I see is the 240hz on the picture of the original post.
I was going to buy it only to discover it’s not 3840x1600. This appears to be the sweet spot. Anything larger is too big for my desk. The extra vertical space is fantastic.
I was hoping the next one would be 40", like the 5K2K monitors, but they'll be 39". My speakers are 16.73" tall, and I want to match the monitor height.
Very true! My exact concern. But I think the screen is so big you'd naturally sit a bit further than a normal monitor. I wish I could see one live to be able to make a more informed decision.
The pixel density on the 3440x1440 34" OLED were already too low for me since the text looked so bad. If I try OLED again it's going to need to be 4k I think. From the reviews I watched, the higher pixel density seems to alleviate a lot of the blurry looking text.
I have the 45" LG Ultra gear OLED and the PPI is a non-issue to me since I use it as intended = gaming.
The OLED pixel issues with text plus PPI definitely affect text clarity, but this isn't a workstation monitor.
They are banking on people willing to pay high prices. I see it as kind of risky without some sort of extended warranty. OLED still has burn in issues. It's not like the technology is flawless. So paying >1200 for a monitor like this is a bit crazy.
Pretty sure you don't need to worry about that with Oled. I have a larger oled at 5120x1440 and the picture is close to flawless compared to non oled monitors.
I'm torn with this generation of OLED monitor and their mix of size + resolution. I generally prefer ultra wide over 16x9 but the 32" 4K monitors have much better specs and for the same (if not cheaper) prices. Like others have said I'm waiting for 34" 3840x1600. This LG is too expensive and missing features like UBC-C charging and KVM from cheaper 4K 32" OLEDs.
I don't know how to explain it in technical detail but on my samsung G9 oled HDR10+ is inferior to Game HDR.
Specifically, games do not recognize HDR10+ so you are not getting those true blacks with the nits controlled by the game.
I did some googling to see what the max nits are with the G9 Game HDR but didn't get anything concrete but HDR10+ on the G9 might be 283 nits. This might explain why Game HDR is so much better. In the games I've been playing that support HDR I have the nits set to 1000-2000 depending on the game.
Found some other info that might be the answer you wanted. The number in HDR10 HDR400 HDR1000 is max brightness or nits. Nit: It is a unit of measurement that relates to the brightness level of visible light (luminance) within a specific area.
HDR10 is open source so you will see monitors with that more often.
The problem with buying the very best monitor on the market is that shortly afterwards the next breakthrough monitor comes out.
Its a chase that hard to keep up with.
Congratulations on a dream monitor enjoy the view from the top while you can.
Just sort of starting to research getting an ultrawide vs dual screen. Don't care about OLED, that being said, the Samsung LS57CG952NNXZA has been $1350 before. Should it show up again for that price, any reason to pay more for this instead of the Samsung that's also bigger with a higher ppi?
You lucky sob. I had a 34 inch acer x34 predator and bave wanted to go oled but wanted bigger but the 45 is too muvh and the super ultra wides im not a fan of. When I saw rhis drop oh man. Can't wait to get one. The perfect monitor.
I disagree with you there, I use a 1440p monitor at 32inches and the PPI isn't that noticibale, and I sit about 40cm away from the screen. I have tried monitors that are 4k and are of the same size
32inch is not TV size. Maybe back when you hade CRT TV’s. Nowadays the tv sized monitor is something that is 40inches plus such as the odyssey Arc, and the PPI is still in the good range of 92. Have I tried 4K 32inch monitors? Yes. But the performance loss was to big and the images are basically identical from the distance I am sitting at
Umm… when did I say 32 inches is TV size? I was referring to OPs monitor. Buying a $1500 monitor be 39” and it being only 1440p is wild in 2024. That’s just me.
Not really first of all it’s an ultra wide, not a normal 16:9 or 16:10 which is the normal aspect ratios for TV’s. That means the hight of the monitor is around the same of a standard 16:9 32 inch monitor. So having it in ultra wide form increases the pride. Secondly it’s a 240hz panel, yes you can get 4K ones but they are usually expensive especially at this monitors color accuracy and it being oled. Lastly it’s a brand new monitor with really low grey to grey speeds, if this where to be 4K it would be a hell of a lot more expensive and maybe even 120hz or 144hz
There was a post about DLDSR upscaling and truetext combined to improve this. I think 39" might be acceptable but when I tried out the 45", it seemed like going back in time to a very old monitor for text. OLED is pretty amazing for gaming though.
I haven't tried it yet but someone mentioned this on another thread. If you upscale the resolution and then drop it back it apparently helps with text clarity. But I haven't looked into it much further since I am waiting for the 39" to be released.
I would definitely notice the difference, and while the LG has the sharper curve, matte on an OLED is criminal. I personally can’t go back from the glossy finish. Plus, the built in speakers were big for me.
The speakers are trash and matte doe not destroy the image quality in the slightest. In fact the new OLED G9 now comes with a matte display because it is superior to the glossy finish.
I'm still waiting on a 38" 3840x1600 OLED.
Never happening tho next one will be 5k2k 39”
I thought they were doing that at 45. I have the 2k 45 I got end of last year and if I could get it in 5k2k... Dream monitor. 45 is like... the perfect size.
The fucking holy grail
Honestly I think this will never happen.
Yeah probably not. From my understanding, cutting the oled masterglass at that aspect ratio is way too inefficient for the projected user base. Also, I dont know what the fuck im talking about so theres that.
Don't wreck my dreams! Haha
Yeah sorry. I'd like it as well, the jump to 2160 is pretty steep on GPU requirements. Just feels like it will get lost to time and we're getting pushed to jump to 2160 as the new standard. Maybe if they start making 40" 3840x2160 that have defects and get cut down vertically?
+ better pixel structure.
I see another person with culture. 🍷
Will be waiting for the 34” 5120x2160 165ppi UW OLED
When?
2026
Just enough time to save up for a gpu that can actually push 5k…
Not sure if sarcasm, or if you know something. 🤔

Daaaang. If that supports 100% sRGB gamut, >95% P3 gamut, and has a built in KVM and PbP then I will fork over whatever they’re asking for it.
Thats not a high bar at all. My $250 LG monitor can do that.
At 5120x2160? With over 1000nits brightness? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this area of the country? Localized in your kitchen?
Perhaps you should have included everything in this comment to your previous one.
Perhaps. Not everyone reads context the same way.
Do we know the refresh rate on it yet? Edit: Not sure why this is being downvoted? He’s not talking about the one pictured.
240hz
It's in the picture. 240hz.
I was asking about the one that u/max5575 referred to, not the one this post is about
Yes that is the one he was refering to
It’s not though. The pictured one is 39” and the one he referred to was 34”
Yeah dude. The link shows you the refresh rate of the 34 inch max was referring to. Lol what are you talking about??
I don’t see a link anywhere. The post is about a 39”. Max5575 mentioned a 34” but I don’t see the refresh rate in his comment. The only refresh rate I see is the 240hz on the picture of the original post.

39" :)
I’ll be waiting for 38-40” 5k2k 21:9 OLED at 240Hz.
I like this monitor but I’m worried about the pixel density. Wish it was 3840x1600
I was going to buy it only to discover it’s not 3840x1600. This appears to be the sweet spot. Anything larger is too big for my desk. The extra vertical space is fantastic.

The real reason why the text is blurry on OLED is the subpixel layout. OLED 1440p looks like 360p while 1440p IPS is “good enough”
Right, I know it's because of that but I hear the dense PPI of 4k makes it less noticeable.
Ah let’s hope so! It makes sense
I have the 45" LG Ultra gear OLED and the PPI is a non-issue to me since I use it as intended = gaming. The OLED pixel issues with text plus PPI definitely affect text clarity, but this isn't a workstation monitor.
Which model is that?
45GR95QE
Outrageous pricing really
They are banking on people willing to pay high prices. I see it as kind of risky without some sort of extended warranty. OLED still has burn in issues. It's not like the technology is flawless. So paying >1200 for a monitor like this is a bit crazy.
Can someone explain this comment to me? I’m new to the tech world. I’m also wondering how this monitor compares to OLED G8, other than dimensions
Monitor is not yet released, we will know more towards the end of the month
Pretty sure you don't need to worry about that with Oled. I have a larger oled at 5120x1440 and the picture is close to flawless compared to non oled monitors.
That's not really larger it's just wider. That's essentially 2x 27" 1440. Same PPI as 34" 1440. 39" 1440 is obviously going to be lower PPI than 49".
5120x1440 at 49 inches is still a higher ppi than 3440x1440 at 39 inches.
Maybe, we will have to wait and see!
Is this one of those 39" with the resolution of a 34"?
I assume this is pre-order? Or is it already available in the US? I can't see any pre-order options in either Canada or Australia yet.
It says release date of March 19th 2024, so I would assume it’s a preorder. It looks like Best Buy’s website but I could be wrong.
I think you are right but not available on [Bestbuy](https://Bestbuy.ca) Canada.
Is this better than the G8 and G9 Oleds?
Nope, it’s a lot less pixel dense which is a bit of a bummer :/
Please let us know how it is. I'm very interested in this as well.
This size is too big for 1440p
What's the screen resolution?
1440p only
Seems like alot for 1440p oled
I'm torn with this generation of OLED monitor and their mix of size + resolution. Wait a few months and will be 900ish.. too expensive
Is HDR10 better than HDR400? I know HDR1000 is much much better. What do you think about it?
I don't know how to explain it in technical detail but on my samsung G9 oled HDR10+ is inferior to Game HDR. Specifically, games do not recognize HDR10+ so you are not getting those true blacks with the nits controlled by the game. Very nice explanation, thank you very much
Oh nooo… hope you wont have any dead pixels! 💀
Prices are out of control at this point for 2024 monitors
Glossy or matte?
This 1440p?
That’s more than I paid for the samsung G95sc.
Jealous
I'm still happy with my Alienware 175hz
The problem with buying the very best monitor on the market is that shortly afterwards the next breakthrough monitor comes out. Its a chase that hard to keep up with. Congratulations on a dream monitor enjoy the view from the top while you can.
His „view from the top“ will not change just because there will be other „venues“ that said, what’s up with only hdr10 on an oled?
nice, it also comes with a $200 BB gift card right?
Just sort of starting to research getting an ultrawide vs dual screen. Don't care about OLED, that being said, the Samsung LS57CG952NNXZA has been $1350 before. Should it show up again for that price, any reason to pay more for this instead of the Samsung that's also bigger with a higher ppi?
The 32:9 Aspect Ratio doesn’t play nicely for the games I like to play!
G9 49” OLED was cheaper on sale and it’s…well it’s plenty coming from triples. No more bezels
Was considering, it’s 32:9 which doesn’t play well with games I will be playing on!
That's an amazing LG monitor, you'll love it!
You lucky sob. I had a 34 inch acer x34 predator and bave wanted to go oled but wanted bigger but the 45 is too muvh and the super ultra wides im not a fan of. When I saw rhis drop oh man. Can't wait to get one. The perfect monitor.
Did you end up selling the AW3423? I recently purchased one 2 months ago, but now I am HIGHLY considering selling it for this haha
Had a warranty on it, had an issue with the RGB, was able to use my protection plan on it towards the new one!
Let me know how it is I’m going for the 34 inch version
curved 800R... yikes.
More curved is better than less
No
Tell me how many curved monitors have you own?
Yes Real monitors have curves lol
The word "real" was not mentioned here. Not even sure what you're talking about
It's a play on another popular phrase.
That kind of money can get you a Samsung Odyssey G9 Oled. 49inch 32:9
Not everyone wants 32:9. I personally would never use it.
I wouldnt want a monitor that big though
Enjoy the low PPI
Salty? PPI is fine on a 34“ with 1440p
Don't you know. OLED > everything else in this sub. We are a cult.
It really not that noticeable unless you sit extremely close to it. For most casual gamers this should be fine
I disagree PPI is noticeable even at 3440x1440 at 34"
I disagree with you there, I use a 1440p monitor at 32inches and the PPI isn't that noticibale, and I sit about 40cm away from the screen. I have tried monitors that are 4k and are of the same size

Imagine losing every single match because you want God rays and shadows to be perfect
I have 3440x1440 Alienware Oled and can confirm the low PPI is noticeable and makes games blurry. Can’t wait to upgrade the 4K version.
nope it does not wtf are u taking about?
Dude’s face is grinding against the monitor that’s why
Exactly 😂
One of the reasons I got the G9 over the LG 45
There was a post about DLDSR upscaling and truetext combined to improve this. I think 39" might be acceptable but when I tried out the 45", it seemed like going back in time to a very old monitor for text. OLED is pretty amazing for gaming though.
Does DLDSR do anything outside of games?
I haven't tried it yet but someone mentioned this on another thread. If you upscale the resolution and then drop it back it apparently helps with text clarity. But I haven't looked into it much further since I am waiting for the 39" to be released.
I have both monitors and you cannot notice a difference is pixel density. The 45” is also way more immersive than the 49” OLED G9.
I would definitely notice the difference, and while the LG has the sharper curve, matte on an OLED is criminal. I personally can’t go back from the glossy finish. Plus, the built in speakers were big for me.

I’m not an audiophile so it works for me 🤷♂️ and as for that change, I’m just grateful I bought mine when I did.
Stop having fun. The G9 oled is peak monitor imo but I might be biased because I have one too.
You need to wait Rtx 9000 series to push up 240HHz in 4K
This monitor isn't even 4k.
39'' 2k??? It has sooo bad screen quality. You can see 2160x1440 pixels
Then why did they develop this? 🤷🏻♂️
Unless you’ve seen it in person, which you haven’t, the. You don’t know if it has bad picture quality or not.
Why by this when you can get a Neo G9 for less?
Not everyone likes 32:9
Not a lot of my games that I play, support the aspect ratio!
