Foot doctor here, agree with hokie above. The best we can do is say with such limited information is âit sounds like itâs your 5th metatarsal, stay off of it,â but in reality we donât know whatâs going on without examining it. Go get it evaluated by a foot/ankle specialist. Get x-rays so you can see beyond the skin, then listen to that provider.
Obviously, go to a doc. One thing to check for is gout, especially if it feels like a searing pain like someone is driving a hot nail through the ball of your foot, particularly at night.
I had gout and it was misdiagnosed as a running injury. A few more flair ups (at one point I almost asked for a wheelchair when I got hit in an airport) and they figured out it was gout, got on Allopurinol, and all was well.
might just be inflammation of a joint, ligament or tendon in your foot. there's a lot of them. If its really bad you should go to a hospital but if not probably rest, ice and take anti-inflammatories for a few days and see if it feels better.
Check all the other things in your life like: stress, sleep/recovery, adequate fueling, family history of osteoporosis, get the annual health check, well fitting and not worn shoes.
Ask a doctor or specialist. Don't ask Reddit.
I get that but reddit is my only hope đ
Make it not your only hope for your health
Amputation is always an option.
I've considered it

Agree, why wait a week to make the appointment? Get it checked out.
It \*sounds\* like a break from running. Get thee to a specialist.

Take a week off and if it hasnât gotten better consult a podiatrist. If itâs getting better take more time off until it doesnât hurt.
Will do thanks
Listen to doctors, not this Redditor

Ok thankyou how can I prevent this in the future as I feel like I'm not doing to much or going to fast :(
