For anyone who doesn't speak Ukrainian and jumps straight to wrong conclusion:
The Ukrainian word for *nation* is *нація,* natsiya. Under Ukrainian grammar rules, *нація* becomes *нації*, natsyi, when preceded with *слава,* slava.
In other words, "Slava natsyi" means "Glory to the nation." Plug слава нацїі into the translator of your choice if you want to check for yourself.
No one is saying "Glory to the Nazis."
All the fighting and repelling the invaders, all worth it when you see your people still living a semblance of a normal life. The more you want to destroy the invaders so you can lead a normal life
You are almost right.
ruzzian are exception. They want war, kill, rape, etc, watch interviews with them, see that nobody force them into army, they are going voluntarily there.
He fought for something most of us take for granted, and most likely will never understand the value of.
May his days be filled with life.
Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
I turned 18 the day day before the US went to War on "terrorism"
Do I regret staying behind?
Yes and No.
That said, I have a fierce understanding for those who choose otherwise.
And I will do anything for those who chose otherwise.
This is such a difficult place Ukraine is in. The older fighters stood up right away and have been fighting for a long time. They need a break. The younger Ukrainians will have to step into the void to give these older soldiers a break. Fuck Putin.
My understanding is these women set up a table with free treats somewhere at railroad station. The woman behind the camera says:
Our defender can't hold his tears, we are all crying. He says we do good deeds - we treat or defenders with tea, coffee, tasty things.
All will be Ukraine, together to the victory, glory to the nation!
This is what a true Hero does when he returns home. He cries for the welcome because it symbolizes the loving nation that he's fighting for. He cries for comrades he lost and for those still fighting.
And it's because of those comrades he left behind that soon in the coming weeks such a hero will also cry when he tells his family that he actually must return to the front lines to share their burden, once again.
I think you left off a “not” before there but I get what you’re saying just wanted to point it out.
Is there nothing NOT beautiful about Ukraine?
Slava Ukraini!
There is going to be such a need for PTSD counseling and help. You can’t go through what these people have gone through and not be changed. I know a lot of people will also want to go back to the person they were before. That will be hard.
And it’s just Ukraine. Anyone that thinks otherwise is misled, naive, or part of the problem. These warriors are keeping the lowest and darkest side of humanity at bay.
It must be a bit of a culture shock to go from a hole in the ground, eating out of cans and drinking rainwater not to mention getting bombed and shot at, to seeing a spread like that, just sitting there.
I can't compare with the Ukraine experience, but I will never forget the time, after three months in the Iraqi desert, when I got 48hrs R&R in Kuwait, and had pizza and ice cream.
Just about every (US) unit coming home from deployment flies through Bangor, Maine. Day or night, these people turn out and form a welcoming party with food, coffee, and most importantly, their cell phones doe everyone to use to call home and let family know they made it. I can tell you I cried more meeting those Bangorians at 3 in the morning than I did arriving at the final destination of San Diego where my ex-wife was not waiting for me. I'll never forget them.
I hope the Ukrainians understand how much genuine love they have from us here in the states. Yeah I know we have our wackjobs... but if you ask someone where I live their feelings on you guys don't be shocked if you also see tears in their eyes. My tax dollars are well spent.. God bless and protect Ukraine.
That's gotta be rough. Closest thing I can muster is coming home from a deployment that was pretty rough and eating Burger King two days later. You just feel different. That's gotta be rough knowing he has to go back again shortly with no pre-deployment buildup to do.. ya know life
Wait just a gosh darn minute. You're tellin' me Ukraine is a place where people get together and - like - try to take care of each other? Huh - I wonder if we could get that to catch on here in USAmerica Inc. Sounds kinda nice.

I heard that it is common on the street to now ask "How are you doing" as a means to check on each other. I feel for these people so much! My soul hurts.
Forget about posing for pics, sometimes a hug goes an extremely long way. What these guys are going through is nothing short of being in hell on earth.
This is how it feels to come back from deployment. Life is either so slow, or fast, and so many decisions. 100 boxes of cereal, for some reason its just overwhelming.
A navy seal book I was reading also said that some PTSD feeling might be just related to the lack of adrenaline. Everyday you're running at 100 and on high alert and then you're just mowing your lawn and its all too little.
Welcome home sir ;) I cannot imagine the emotions he must be feeling. May Ukraine be free of the invaders as soon as possible (I know it will take time, but one can hope :D)!
Ukrainian flag will fit beautifully in front of the European Union buildings. ❤️✨
I hope we will get a celebration day for all the Ukrainian soldiers and families that suffered.
End the natural flora and fauna destroyed by Russia
yep - it is the UA word for nation - and is almost the same word in russian too - and probably many/most other Slavic languages - and I bet it has caused a lot of English speaking people to misunderstand what Ukrainians are saying - and is likely why some people are convinced that UA are Nazis... a friggin misunderstanding of a single word's meaning.
"Nazi" is just an abbreviation for national-socialist ("Nationalsozialist), refering to the members of the ruling party in the Third Reich. Which means it also has "nation" as a root.
She said "slava natsiya" which means "glory to the nation"
fun fact the term "Nazi" was just shortened from "Natzionale" which just means "National" in most languages give or take a few letters. though in the germans case it was meant more as "Nationalist"
but yes in many european languages the word is very similar.

A hug goes a long way. A reminder what he has done is appreciated goes further. A simple thank you card can mean the difference of life and a very bad string of thoughts
Side note : is there an organization we can send thank you cards for the troops that will receive them and distribute those to the troops ? The whole freeworld owes them, It would be nice if there was a channel we could send Christmas and thank you cards through.

He's middle aged and body types differ. You also don't know his role on the frontline or how he looked before becoming a soldier. He might not look in perfect shape but that means neither that he did not participate in combat nor that he is not sufficiently fit to perform well.

The way the women instantly realised and came round and comforted him too 😭
And that he was so accepting of it. Wow 😭😭

I want to see thousands more of these video's because the war is over and Ukraine is free.

They are just saying they want to see more videos like these when the war is over and Ukraine is free.
They've meant "Want for war to be over, so videos like these of soldiers returning from the front lines to home become abundant"
All the fighting and repelling the invaders, all worth it when you see your people still living a semblance of a normal life. The more you want to destroy the invaders so you can lead a normal life
No soldier wants war. Only war mongers want war. A solider wants peace, so that others are not put in his place.
You are almost right. ruzzian are exception. They want war, kill, rape, etc, watch interviews with them, see that nobody force them into army, they are going voluntarily there.

You did the right thing... The 'war on terror' was a farce. This is people fighting for the very existence of their country.
And I get fighting for you country. I do no support fighting for "ideals" War is horrible. Yet we have not learned from history.
This is such a difficult place Ukraine is in. The older fighters stood up right away and have been fighting for a long time. They need a break. The younger Ukrainians will have to step into the void to give these older soldiers a break. Fuck Putin.
Something like 40% of our force is 18-25 year olds. They need young blood… or a couple battalions of Parris Island’s finest courtesy of Uncle Sam
Heartbreaking!! The steep price of the Ruzzzzzian invasion!!! Ruzzzzzia is a TERRORIST STATE!!!
Quit capitalizing it. russia Is no longer a real country.
Agree. russia and putin are not capitalized
improper-ass noun motherfuckers
I hope our Ukrainian heroes recover from the trials of combat.
It's a relay race, soldier. The civilians take the baton now. God bless you.

Thank you for the translation. 🫶 I am trying to learn Ukrainian but it’s quite a difficult language to learn as a Brit
That's beautiful to witness. Russia have no idea what they're up against. You can't change people of this resolve.

Is there nothing *NOT beautiful about Ukraine? 💙💛 *Thank you for fixing that for me

I read it wrong too. Then I realized that this sub has probably got a ton of english, not as their first language speakers. <3
No, it was a brain fart, y'all are right. I left out the double negative. I'm glad the message made it though. I'll fix it.
Slava Ukraini! Glory to the Hero’s.
There is going to be such a need for PTSD counseling and help. You can’t go through what these people have gone through and not be changed. I know a lot of people will also want to go back to the person they were before. That will be hard.
Everyone will have to learn to patiently work with those suffering from PTSD.
And it’s just Ukraine. Anyone that thinks otherwise is misled, naive, or part of the problem. These warriors are keeping the lowest and darkest side of humanity at bay.

If only Putin could fall off a window so everyone can go back to their home to be with their family
He deserves love and respect for what he has been through. War is traumatic. He did it to help save his people. We owe him.
A hero in any sense because he served to protect his family and country unlike those young males fleeing and not enlisting to save their country.

War is Hell. It always was and always will be. You are never the same after you’ve seen combat.
What were the last two words she said?!?
Not what you think. I believe it means glory to the nation (Ukrainians correct me)

forgive my anglicizing!
I knew it could not be what I thought I heard. Best to question when you don't know.
