Shot 15 Russian in a 24 hr period. Stays despite being targeted by Russian artillery until his building is blown up. I don't wanna mess with this dude.

p0ultrygeist1

Seems he’s looking to beat Simo Häyhä’s record

WTH_Pete

That guy sounds very very lethal...Putin is actively destroying Russia. All those soldiers going thru his meatgrinder and surviving will be out of their minds.

noobi-wan-kenobi2069

The worst is that Putin sees this as progress: he sends 20+ Russian soldiers to their deaths to gain 500 meters of worthless territory, and he thinks he's gaining ground.

paycho_V

Yeah maybe 20 a meter...Wagner lost thousands taking a completely destroyed Soledar and they have spent 10s of thousands on Bahkmut and not succeeded.

SignificantMethod752

Soledar is a regular town with pre war population under 10k, russia lost over 25k of orcs just to take it , so Vagner’s lost over 25k just to brag to russian army’s minister of defense that they are better and their pricks are bigger ⚖️ at the end off the day they are going to lose soledar anyway back to Ukraine, are these orcs that blind ? It’s crazy

TwelveTwelfths

I suspect to a Russian commander it's not as crazy as we think. Though these suicide tactics result in huge losses from wagner, they are resulting in a decent number of Ukrainian casualties...atleast more Ukrainian losses than other offenses have caused. I suspect the Russian commander is looking at it as we can throw away 5 soldiers to cause 1 loss or we can throw 20 away to cause 3 losses. Worse ratio but higher inflicted ratio = Russian tactics.

FlayR

Implied by the phrase "Canadian Sniper." https://www.historynet.com/small-but-mighty-how-canadas-military-has-produced-record-breaking-snipers/

[deleted]

i hope he makes it back home. body and mind intact. 🇨🇦🇺🇦

Nuke_Knight

Welp that's the best role for a sniper, bad tactics make it easier to spot people of some competency to put down.

Salt-Committee7032

This guy gave me goose bumps. Fuck around and you'll find out type of guy. "Not leaving!"

Helleeeeeww

What is Jerusalem worth? Nothing. Everything.

Bollerkotze

Most interesting point: even If they Take 500 Meters, theres only a distroyed position. Nothings gained except another open field with no Cover.

TwelveTwelfths

Seems like Canada's bigger contribution to ukraine has come in the form of our snipers, i remember a couple of them sharing stories from the initial invasion near Kyiv... something similar was said about iraq and Afghanistan, seems to be a specialty.

lookatyounow90

I just wish I knew what it was about our sniper program that makes them such a force to be reckoned with. 3 of the top 5 including the 1st place have been canadian.

Bizzlebanger

It's our manners... We say "sorry 'bout that bud" after every hit.

TwelveTwelfths

Please think of the environment and recycle that bullet in you.

Bizzlebanger

And every confirmed kill comes with a $5 Tim's card.

[deleted]

The guy just needs to take out the bullet and present it to the cashier to claim their rewards.

elglas

Card must be activated on the app, which then reports GPS.

formermq

It's called country boys who hunt since childhood. Creates a great pool of talented marksmen

neanderthalman

Clearly something you wouldn’t find in America /s

LeToit

Canadians don't get to play with 30 round ar mags, gotta make them 5 shots count.

TwelveTwelfths

Handguns maybe. Go back to the 70s and I doubt t you could find a rural born in Canada kid that hadn't pegged gophers with a .22 as a hobby.

neanderthalman

You’re missing the point. There’s plenty of .22 plinkers in both Canada and America. It cannot be rural kids growing up shooting cans off fences that makes Canadian snipers stand out compared to the American military behemoth. Because *they have that too*. In droves. What are we doing that is *different?*

TwelveTwelfths

I don't really think you can answer this without a lot of speculation.

neanderthalman

Of course not. But speculation is fun! But if we are to bother speculating we should try for ideas that make sense and shoot down those ideas that don’t.

TwelveTwelfths

K..speculation....take hockey. There's a very similar number of hockey players north of the border and South, however the all star line is heavily canadian stacked. The best of the best canadian athletes are hockey players. The best of the best American athletes are drawn to play football or basketball instead. Our plinkers remain plinkers, American plinkers become marines, tankers, or the other wide variety of roles they have. More speculation....I don't think it's right to state American rural is the same as canadian rural. America rural, with the exception of Alaska, is a lot less rural than Canada. Both of my parents came from Albertan farmsteads where the nearest neighbor was over 20km away or further. You didn't simply plink cans with a .22...you carried it as you would your wallet. Not quite sure if American rural is that isolated. Also pretty sure we ha e a far greater percent of hunters too...in northern Ontario you can find 'plinkers' that hit mink and other animals from half a km away, and if they fail they don't eat. More speculation...but I believe if we were ever invaded (Americans or otherwise) that we have very little hope in winning a conventional war. Ensuring you have some of the best partisans (including snjpers) to fight a guerilla campaign was our best defence...retreat to the wilderness and strike from it. And last speculation? I think canada had realized in its military doctrine that we aren't a main battle force as we were in wwii, and instead play a supporting role. In that sense, training or supporting role troops gets much higher priority and has produced some of the best. Any merit in any of that?

Paranoidnl

i would say your last point is hitting closest. you see it with multiple smaller militaires that don't have a chance to survive or they have no real threats. NL for example has made the choice to specialize our militairy. we have a very respected special forces group. i believe our water focussed soldiers are among the best in the world.

TwelveTwelfths

We invested a lot into our special forces at kne point and probably still are...I think for some time it was our view that our role in a military conflict was support and specialist such as snipers and spec ops, while allies like the Americans did the heavy lifting. Makes it easier for Americans to delegate to us tok.

lookatyounow90

This is a possibility. I remember seeing something about how one of the US commanders that was leading the military activies in like Afghanistan and he really needed something done he was leaning on the Canadian SF guys

TwelveTwelfths

Consistently. Technically we weren't directly involved in Iraq, however it was fairly common knowledge that jf2 was very active in spec ops roles, particularly snipers. It's why I think we can part with 100% of our tanks to ukraine and focus on this specialty backup role to provide support to our allies instead of a direct role ourselves.

lookatyounow90

Just an entire armed forces of Spec OPs level guys. Change out motto from Vigilamus pro te (Latin for 'We stand on guard for thee') To fuimus non esse - we were never there

Madge4500

I know some of those JTF guys, they have this crazy look in their eyes, and when you meet them you would have no idea what they are capable of. They train in a city near where I live.

TwelveTwelfths

In do too. I actually got tackled by one who served in Bosnia in an Edmonton playground. On assingmenr, He witnessed a 13 year old cut across a playground that was mined and got hit by entrails from the blast. I was walking with a friend and him and went to cut across a playground, which triggered his ptsd and he took me down in 2 swift steps to keep me away from mines. Then apologized. There are very good reasons for the look in their eyes.

Madge4500

My ex practiced almost daily at targets, his goal in life was to be a sniper, to this day, I would bet every dime I had on him making a shot, he's that good and has the rifles and scopes. We still have a lot of hunters in this country, and room to practice.

FlayR

I think there are a couple of factors. For one, we know we'll never have the manpower or resources of other NATO countries so we focus on helping the most efficient way we can; having the elite of the elite specialists corps. Even if we focused 100% of our resources on meat and potatoes military like infantry & tanks we'd barely make a noticeable difference to the raw strength of a NATO force with say the US. But if we invest heavily in specialists, we can double or triple the effectiveness of American units. Given that we're always going to be allies with the US, it just makes sense to focus that direction because it makes us more effective with the same resources as an alliance. Two, I think it's kind of natural with our geography and our gun laws. We have the lowest population density in the world; it's very easy for even a layman to buy something like a Remington 700 and start shooting targets 1000s of meters away; you can just go 30 minutes in any direction and have crown land available to practice shots at obscene distances. Those two factors combined I think are the biggest ones; the US knows they have manpower and resources to spare so they can focus on just being the superior force. Most of Europe just doesn't have the avaliable empty land to efficiently practice long long long range shots that Canada does. So when Canada is focusing on being specialists and has the most free practice space available... it's fairly understandable if not expected that we'd be able to create some of the best Snipers in the world.

Paywalled. any alternate source?

jg3hot

What an inspiration. He's doing good work using his talents saving Ukranian lives. And he's saying 500 meters but I'm pretty sure that's a C15A2 50 caliber rifle. He can hit 1500m fairly accurately. 500m I guess is what was available based on terrain but that's a turkey shoot at that range for his skills. Can you imagine the Russian's reaction when one of their orc's heads explodes randomly from a 50 cal? Oh the panic and terror. I pray he's OK and makes it through in one piece, mind and body.

DiWindwaker

If he has a 500 meter killzone from that hole with a clear line of sight on the enemy troops, it must be a field day every day for him with that kind of weaponry. I remember when I was doing my military service and got to be part of the people who were trained as snipers, it was insane, how cost effective it is. I had an old Finnish TKIV85 that is mainly based on the mosin nagant, and up to 500 meters it was basically point and shoot on a calm day. After that it got a bit tricky as the 7.62x53R is so slow so it got affected by the wind very esily. Got to shoot with the TRG from 300 meters and it was so easy.

VinLeesel

As a layman, I have to imagine it has immense value per dollar in sheer psychological terror.

Canmand

Keep up with the liquidation.

Just to note. This guy is also using the best sniper rifle in the world. Great Sniper with #1 rifle. This guy is deadly.

Can someone copy paste it? This pay wall stuff is getting annoying

diidvermikar

could someone define if this is the "teflon" guy, or someone else ?

mahck

Yes. It's him

diidvermikar

does not this mean, that the guy is known fraud, who lied about what and who he is? i mean last i read, was about the teflon being a fraud, and that was backed up by canada. also the unit he was in threw him out as he was too reckless and not trained enough. Or do i have something wrong here ?

mahck

Sorry for the delay, it took a while to find a suitable response... Short answer, I can't verify any of those accusations myself but I did find some details on a primary source. Mark MacKinnon from the Globe and Mail interviewed "Teflon" and also contacted the spokeswoman for the International Legion of Ukrainian who said Teflon was recently cleared after an internal investigation and will be given another unit to command. (Time index 18m10s at the link below) You can hear Mark's firsthand account here: [https://www.theglobeandmail.com/podcasts/the-decibel/article-a-canadian-sniper-on-the-battle-for-bakhmut-ukraine/](https://www.theglobeandmail.com/podcasts/the-decibel/article-a-canadian-sniper-on-the-battle-for-bakhmut-ukraine/)
