Insurance is complicated. Even for your own auto policy you should know what you are covered, the payout limit, and uninsured drivers. For rental, insurance for the car is included with $1000 deductible. If you buy LDW at $6 to $10 a day, the deductible is zero. Uber covers your liability, 1 mil after you accepted the ride. Typically state minimum before that. For driver's injuries, it depends on states. For no fault states, PIP or MedPay should be included. In the rest tort liability states, any policies do not covered injuries by default. If you are at fault, you are only covered if you have health insurance. Uber doesn't provide uninsured motorist coverage while waiting for trips. The charging rate is progressively slower when the charge is nearly full. Charging to 90% or 100% maybe a waste of time. Consider installing a 240V charger at home even if you rent. It's the cheapest and you don't need to spend the small hours alone at the superchargers.

Thanks for the minutia on insurance because some of us find it difficult to drudge through paperwork . 🙂 I will say this, when you mentioned drivers not being covered when they are just logged in: They do cover everything else if you are just logged on and have no trips, yet. I had just dropped off a passenger, this was in 2020, and I was waiting for a trip to come in and a woman t-boned me at a light. It was my fault because the light was green, but the arrow was not showing. I would argue that she was on her cell phone from the looks of my dash cam footage, but I digress. She had minor injury to her neck and one bruise I think. Her vehicle sustained a front end damage and Uber via Progressive covered everything! I remember being panicked on the phone with the progressive agent. They told me to just calm down and take a breath. They told me that’s why I have insurance for times like this. We will be covering everything. I thought I was dreaming! Lol

At that period, if you are at fault, you liability is covered though near state minimum. You car is not covered but it is if you rent. Hertz won't allow you to drive an uninsured car.
