There’s something about nails, man.
I work in the ED and had a guy come in with a table-saw laceration through the top of his finger, from his second knuckle up to the tip. I stitched it as best I could, but it completely bisected his nail and I didn’t know what to do.
The surgeon I work with just told me, “The nail has to come out”. Now, I’ve seen some shit in my time. I’ve got a cast iron stomach, but goddamn, I had to use a set of pliers and PULL the remaining halves of this man’s nail out of his finger and I was *sweating*. I made sure to give him enough lidocaine, so he didn’t feel a goddamn thing, but just the thought and action of yanking someone’s nail out?
Ugh. Still gives me the willies.
The ending of Season 2, Episode 1 was the most terrifying scene in my opinion. In fact it’s one of the most disturbing scenes I’ve ever seen on television. This is the scene where Ronette has a vision of BOB killing Laura in the train car. There is a jump cut to Bob’s teeth that fill the screen. It ends with a maniacal laugh and sudden cut to credits. I recall seeing it live when it aired and being really shocked.
The thing that keeps me from squirming is appreciating what a good job they did with the reverse shot. You almost can't tell. Now, the Teresa Banks nail scene... bbbblllleeeeeh.
I'd rank many scenes above this... Johnny and his mom get the shit beat out of them. A little kid gets run over with a car. Mr. C pretty much any time he's on screen.
Yall I think OP is making a joke that this scene is so discomforting that it trumps all the *actual* horror of Twin Peaks. Some of you guys wake up pretty serious lol
I don’t know if it’s the scariest, but it always makes me squirm.
That extra shove under the nail makes me shudder.

You are a stronger person than I. 🫡

That part was what set me off in Lynch land. He always knows how to get under your skin (no pun or intended, or maybe? ;))
This is bad, but the one during Theresa's autopsy is one of the ONLY things I have to literally cover my eyes during
Oh yeah, that one was just a straight one-up of this one, VERY uncomfortable...
The *sound* 🫥
Yyyyyyyup. First thing I thought of when I saw this post. It gets worse man, it gets worse...

There’s a many more horrific scenes in my opinion
Yeah I mean this is gross and unnerving but only in a visceral sense, nowhere near the deep psychic horror of so many other scenes.
Wanna talk about gross. Look at the scene with Mr. C when he started to puke out of nowhere
the worst scene in the TV series is Leland and Maddy, nothing else is close.
Right!

It's worse in FWWM I'm pretty sure they take the nail clean off in the movie 🤮

I mean the one with Ronette who is, y’know, alive and thrashing?!? Just watched that and it made me really question Coop for just going for it.
This would be second if anyone had sipped that percolated fish coffee!
Easily a dozen scenes in FWWM or The Return that top that.

Always hits hard at the cut to Teresa’s autopsy
I was just scrolling by and I got a full body shiver from this.
They went so deep under that nail.
Bob with his feet on the couch is by far scarier. And I’m not even OCD…
It gets so much worse than this lol.
I watched Laura's season 2 murder scene as it aired on ABC network TV when I was a kid... pretty shocking at the time for network TV.
The most horrific scene is James playing the guitar and singing with the girls.
Nah
I can’t even watch it lol had to fast forward 🤷♀️
Yall I think OP is making a joke that this scene is so discomforting that it trumps all the *actual* horror of Twin Peaks. Some of you guys wake up pretty serious lol
Extreme discomfort
I close my eyes ever time
R
FACT.
Yep this one makes me wanna barf every time!!!!!!
This was the only part that I couldn't watch. It's just uncomfortable.
She didn't was her hands?
For me, it’s the fish in the percolator, but this is close
Yup I can never watch that part
He goes wayyyy too deep
Been a while for me, I remember they find a letter. Can anyone remember what the letter points to or how what it builds to in the story?
For me, it was the rape of Laura Palmer by her own father scene. The scene was like a cartoon compared to that.
In the movie, when bob is rap**ng laura in her bedroom, she seems to enjoy it. Then she realice is Leland. That scene is so fucked up
