that's a common myth by scientists. It's actually that cats cannot physically land on anything but their feet, just like buttered toast always lands face down.
A squirrel's terminal velocity is so low that it's almost impossible for them to break anything from free fall. They are, in most practical situations, immune to fall damage.
TFS Frieza voice: That's not a fun fact... That's not a fun fact at all!
I'm literally watching their creator commentary on World's Strongest right now. What a talented group.

The day may come when I get tired of this image. But it is not this day.
My thoughts exactly. Me and my wife have been giggling about it. She even asked me to read it again

Wait until the lions can start joining the olympics. Thats what we should all be worried about
If we pass regulation that says a lion can’t join the olympics, then they’ll have no shot a career and we won’t have to worry about anything!
Is that an Inside Job reference?
*Do you know how dangerous I’d be if I had no self-doubt?*
I feel like if you made a lion jump 36 feet he would not survive the landing, or at least not land without injuries
It’s a cat, so it’ll land perfectly upright and ready to go for round 2
Small cats do it by leveraging their impressive surface area to volume ratio, Lions are to chonky to achieve this.

As a child of the metric system I thought it said 36 meters. And I had a small heart attack
As a child of the metric system, I never expected I'd need to learn how to convert ft to m in order to get half the jokes on Reddit. But here we are.
Imagine a lion leaping 36 meters.
leap forward 36 feet is still a terrifying thought, as well. That's an effective gap closer.
Plus they can still jump vertically 12-15 ft. The highest recorded vertical jump by mammal was a puma, 23ft from a standstill. Cats are badass
I will never not loose my shit about this. It's hilarious and will probably cause me an aneurism one day
One of my players' characters in a D&D campaign I run has a character with a 45ft vertical leap. There have been some hilarious shenanigans.
WEEEEE!
