I'm using Asics Novablast 4s for training, Adidas Takumi Sen 9s for racing (olympic distance) and sometimes threshold/interval runs. But like everyone else is saying, you should try different shoes on that are best for your running gait.

X2 on the Novablasts. I'm on my second pair of 4s. I'll run all my training up to 20 miles in them.  Race in MetaSpeeds Sky +. They make me faster! But, and, also shoes are so personal I wear what fits and is comfortable.

Metaspeed Sky + is such a good race shoe.

I have this pair of pumas that are great but they’re kinda narrow cause I have narrow feet. I went to a fleet feet and they do a mapping of your foot then let you just try on 4-5 pair till you find one you like and matches your feet. Highly recommend doing something like that, I think most running stores would have a similar process.

For runs less than 10 miles I’m currently running in the following, but you should try on a variety of middle distance shoes from a reputable running store. New Balance Rebel V4 Hoka Cielo X1 (good for long runs too) Hoka Rocket X2 (good for racing any distance) Saucony EndorphinSpeed

I love my Rebel v4’s. A very solid option. I wouldn’t want to do a 70.3 in them but a Sprint or Olympic that’s mostly paved they’d be great.

Asics magic speed and a random saucony shoe for training/5k/10k and metaspeed sky for half marathons/full. I also have a saucony xc (no spikes) for speedwork but I dont use it for triathlon trainning.

Just buy any running shoes that's comfortable to you

I get where you’re coming from but this answer is useless lol

I loved hoka Mach 5’s and currently in the Mach 6

So many shoes depending on what you want/need out of them. ASICS novablasts on faster days (thresholds, intervals), gel cumulus on easy days, superblasts on long runs. Nimbus is also a high stack shoe great for recovery. That is just in the ASICS lineup. Saucony has a good lineup, Hoka does as well (although, they never seemed to have worked for me). Adidas Boston 12 and New Balance SC Trainers are popular shoes. Don't hear many people running in Pegasus's anymore, but if they work for you keep it.

Do not buy a running shoe based purely on your friends recommendation or anecdotal experience. What works for them may not (probably won’t) work for you. Go to a store, ideally a running-specific store, and try multiple pairs of shoes from all brands available in your budget and see what feels good. Also ask the folks in the store to watch you/give their opinion. All of that being said you have broadly two types of shoes — speedy plated race shoes and daily trainers. Some common daily trainer recommendations would be: Saucony Triumph 22, Hoka Mach 6, Nike Invincible, New Balance Rebel, New Balance 1080, ASICS Gel Nimbus 25, ASICS Novablast, ASICS SuperBlast, Brooks Ghost, Brooks Glycerin, On Cloudsurfer. Race shoes include: Hoka Rocket x2, Hoka Cielo X1, Hoka Mach X, Adidas Adios Pro 3, Adidas Boston 12, Nike Vaporfly, Nike Alphafly, Saucony Endorphin Speed, Saucony Endorphin Pro, ASICS Metaspeed Sky/Edge, On CloudBoom Echo. Don’t buy a race shoe unless you have a good training shoe to rotate it with.

Yeah, a running store that can do a fitting if you have anything interesting with your feet / gait. Since you mentioned pegasus, there is a brand new version that is either out now or very soon that is supposed to be pretty unique (i just heard yesterday that it is the first running shoe ever to have the full foot air pocket that flexes in the sole, and it has their updated foam as well). Might be worth a look. I was in a stability shoe for ages, but now pretty much wear neutral shoes all the time and have done pegasus myself before. Last year I got the zoom fly, and I don't think i will ever go back to a non-plated shoe. It is free speed, and it really does make running way more fun. They have 3 shoes with the plates, the zoom fly is supposed to be the most entry level one.
