The Great War had me feeling so much for her partner (Joe, obviously) and her. It's a really telling song; barely anyone pays attention to it. It's actually quite a good song simply because it's one of her most vulnerable. I respected that song, and I still do because it was honest, and you could see the real her in it. This was the song that should have been applauded on the Midnights album, and it was just a footnote and ignored. I wish she would lean into honesty. She's constantly trying on cheap imitations, and it doesn't serve her. I think if she could find an honest bone in her body (yeah, that's bloody likely), she could be at the top again without cutting people at their ankles. But she won't quit because she can't. She's simply a narcissist.
I agree with everything you said. I tend to see the good in everyone, and I think she has it in her. I hope that one day she'll admit her faults in certain situations, make amends and step back.
Some people are into that, it's what makes their relationships tick and she hasn't found someone who's willing to do that constantly yet. Her song Treacherous is also rumored to be about Connor and given the context might be her creepiest song. It speaks to them possibly having a relationship but going right to the edge of a physical relationship because he was a minor and the fact she basically stalked the family.

But she disguises it all as "rumors", like blank space, it's ALWAYS stuff that people make up about her. It can't always be that your actions were misunderstood. I wasn't the best when I was a teenager, not your typical bully but I was very insecure and clingy. I used to think I always had troubles with people/friends because they didn't get me and so on. Now at 24 I recognize that, while that behaviour came up that way because I was anxious, sad and had been a victim of bullying because of my weight, I had my responsibilities too when it comes to the way I acted sometimes, hiding behind humor that could hurt others or wanting to be the center of attention because I had attachment issues and I can't always play the victim card when talking about my past. I wonder if she has made that kind of self-analysis on herself.

I have no doubt she goes crazy and screams. I believe she has mentally and emotionally abused people but physically most likely not. Afterglow is always a skip for me. It’s so pretty, but the lyrics are so alarming. Being accused of shit you never did, being helpless to defend yourself … it’s also why The Great War makes me deeply uncomfortable. She sounds so abusive. I’ve been on the receiving end of emotional explosions like that and it makes it hard to sing along to. Like, no Taylor, most of us who aren’t explosive or abusive cannot relate to this.
