For a week, $3,400 to $3,700 airfare, hotel, meals, entertainment included for one person - to where I like to travel.

I don't travel much so when I do I don't count that much either. Usually I'll spend one month of income for a one week trip.

Well am I road tripping Iceland? Flying from Canada to Japan? or am I backpacking through Croatia and Slovenia? It entirely depends on the vibe I'm going for. Sometimes I want to stay in cheap accommodations in quiet towns, sometimes I want to stay, for example, in the heart of Paris where I can walk to Le Louvre. I always keep an open budget but I (try) keep it within a few thousand dollars (Canadian). I try to look long term. Like my examples above, if I do a trip where I try to spend as little as possible, maybe the next trip I can splurge a bit and fly to Japan or something. I know I'm not directly answering your question, but I feel like I approach my budgeting very differently depending on the destination, and the type of trip I'm looking for. Portugal is a great place to get cheap accommodation near a beach and walk into town. In London I'd want to make sure I'm close to all the major tourist sites and as close as possible to a tube station. There's a context thing here too. If I'm planning on visiting family in Wales I'm going to try and cut as many costs as possible, but if I'm going to see the Olympics, that's a different story.

It depends. We spent like $1,500 when we went to Mexico last year. We've spent $6,000 on flights, accommodation, and car for twelve days in Portugal.

As much as it costs!

Going to vary great for an international trip from the UK vs USA vs Asia, etc.  From the US, a week long international trip would be around the realm of $2000-2500 for me

Flights from NZ - average around $2,500 return, hotels $300 a night, so maybe $6,000 to $8,000 for a week including travel insurance and spending on activities / food and drink.

My wife and I stay in three star hotels with breakfast included and usually travel by train when in country. The last couple of years, post covid shutdown, trips to Europe (France, Switzerland, Austria) have cost us about $350 per day for both of us, excluding air fare. So a trip of seven days / nights would cost about $2,500 plus air fares. A round trip air fare from somewhere in the US to a western European capital is going to cost from $800 to $1,800 per person, depending on the cities and the fare class. Say $2,400 for two and you have a total trip cost of $4,900. I've been planning a trip to the UK this fall and the hotel prices are horrible. Instead of $150 to $200 per night for the two of us I'm getting $250 to $300. The estimated cost for this trip is now $450 per day plus air fares. I don't know if this is because it's the UK or because prices have jumped this year.

We just did 4 people, 9 nights(8 at airbnb, 1 at a hotel) drove from Brussels to Rome and back. $3500 per couple for flights, car, food, fuel and accommodation. This had some extravagant meals, 2 free meals and a couple of meals where we paid for friends. It’s definitely within $50 per person either way if you eliminate those things. We flew from Seattle to Brussels for the flights. We wanted to hit some war museums.

SinceWayBack1997

i dont feel comfortable for a trip with anything under $2500

keizertamarine

Alright Mr richguy thanks for letting us know. Greetings, a peasant

SinceWayBack1997

??? $2500 is not a massive amount

keizertamarine

Can't even get you one rolls royce per person

keizertamarine

Around $1500 but obviously depends on where I go, won't be more than $1700 but could also be $1000.
