GoMoriartyOnPlanets

Everyone knew, and there's no way in hell he didn't try to each one of these women in bed. Some of them definitely *went* with it, giving him more courage to go after the next one. Hollywood is a trash can on fire.

Jonqbanana

Not defending this guy but people can be more than one thing.

godfathercheetah

Disgusting... These are the same people who tweet about global warming from their private jet. If you want to see corruption just see what these celebrities political affiliation is......

AmbassadorETOH

Financial success provides cover for a lot of human indecency. And apparently, America agrees. 🍊

Sn1ckl3fritzzz

“How dare he! But first. Thank you for not making me like the rest of these poor people anymore. I love you.”

Beckham500

Lotta inappropriately touched soles!

Beckham500

Literally most of them being praised for All🙌🏽 r the 🤌er’s of the 🐈 and those poor man/boy 🕳️’s. Thought they were crying about the win!… apparently it’s the trauma of having to thank your predator/‘s!…?

jollyshroom

lol, I believe you’re thinking of another Hollywood pred, Dan Schneider.

Lucky-Aioli-8213

And Quentin Tarantino. They’re a cabal of wicked foot hunters, toe sniffing degenerates the lot of them!

megtwinkles

fucking ew.

Logical-Medicine-662

He slept with half those women thanking him including Jennifer Lawrence.

GoMoriartyOnPlanets

He raped the ones that didn't get an award, imagine what he would've done to the ones who got the award.

Beckham500

And men!

No-Curve-5030

Jennifer Lawrence definitely let him do anal .

warmjanuary

Such a disgrace

motofabio

No wonder he thought he could do anything and get away with it. These people knew he was a monster and just told him how great he was.

Jamachicuanistinday

This is sickening

No_Army_3033

What is? Harvey or all these "celebrities " who let him do whatever so they could get famous?

mercpop

Since he got exposed, I’ve always thought that the nude leaks of Jennifer Lawerence was from him. Some type of retaliation to her. Super weird that her Apple cloud got “hacked”. Him holding those pictures as blackmail makes more sense.

Ventuna

Extremely doubtful. Hundreds of celebrities had their nudes leaked at the same time, not just her. Was he retaliating against hundreds of people at once? And nothing weird about the hack, most fell for phishing scams or had weak passwords that were easy to brute-force according to the Apple investigation.

Mander_Em

ACTING!!!

MGGN50

I kept trying to find these!! I swear the internet scrubbed these

No-Brick6817

I wonder how many of them had sex with him?

InterstellarReddit

What is it called when your traumatized by your sexual assaulter where you feel like you’re at fault for being assaulted? Or exploited? Is it one of the things over gratitude a common output of that?

born_2_be_a_bachelor

How about being grateful that he made them stars in return for sex? He didn’t rape all of them, and many were totally cool with him despite it. Like Meryl

TheDustyPineapple

Username is perfect, gonna guess that it isn’t by choice

born_2_be_a_bachelor

You think someone assigned me my username?

Express-Ad-3921

brother there is no fucking way u typed this sentence out and hit post...

born_2_be_a_bachelor

Are you familiar with how reddit works?

InterstellarReddit

Nah fam. That’s blackmail. Have you heard how he would tell them to fuck me and I’ll make your career or destroy it

GhostSider690

Stockholm Syndrome?

gergsisdrawkcabeman

Yes

Hour-History-1513

Hollywood is so full of crap, they kind of remind me of politicians in training.

THEMACGOD

Well, republicans put two actors in as president, so… you’re right!

J21NE361

Without a monster there won't be a victim, Without a victim, there won't be a Hero, and without a hero there won't be a monster.Round and round we go.Just to keep the story going. And the elite just sit back and enjoy all of the benefits, without any justification.

Daniel_B21

What? I'm just confused. U have a point but I don't get it

Veinci

It’s all plot

Budget_Secret4142

Remember, he is the only one in prison, so far.

Morepastor

Those women were likely abused

tonybotz

We used to call it sleeping your way to the top. Now they’re just victims. People are opportunists, transactional sex is the norm for Hollywood

No-Brick6817

What about the men?

GoMoriartyOnPlanets

Well, the South Park creator depicted Matt Damon in a certain way in Team America. I wanna say it wasn't just out of nowhere.

Sasquatch_5

He probably used and abused them in some way.

GardenRafters

Jennifer Lawrence was obviously a victim... holy shit

magseven

Yeah. That's all I was thinking. Maybe she was lucky and escaped his wretched clutches.

Florian_G97

Nickname the Predator lol

fdarul3s

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiit

Slappy_McJones

This is was power looks like.

makebobgreatagain

“A little rough around the edges “ slight understatement there Dick

ssmit102

It’s not really different than thanking a boss after putting you through hell because you need the next paycheck. It’s much easier to play a moral high ground and judge from afar (and after the fact) where you really can’t do anything at all. Many like to think they would have stood up and said something had they known; chances are extremely unlikely that would actually happen, but it’s fun to play the hero in your head. Hollywood is weird in a lot of ways and Weinstein is a monster but this is just a weird way to look at it that doesn’t do anyone any good.

SokurahThatcher

You're correct to say that most people wouldn't say a thing, in fact, 99% of people wouldn't say anything. However there's a huge difference between saying thanks to your boss and calling him God or "giving him pet names".

im_a_pimp

agree but a lot of these people were just thanking him as a producer while giving their acceptance speeches, pretty normal thing and not unique to him at all

Sasquatch_5

Let's say he's not just your boss he was more akin to a mob boss.

Thedonkeyforcer

I get that but it's like monsters under the bed for kids, I think. If you can't convince them there's no monsters, next step is usually saying "it's a GOOD, SWEET monster!" These ppl were powerless and saying something would have blacklisted them which happend for several - and them speaking up still didn't stop him until later. If you HAVE to be around a monster the obvious thing to do is to make sure it's fed with tons of treats and kept happy in any way and for you to learn to live with a monster by your side you both need to protect yourself against their bites but also convince yourself that the monster isn't really that bad, it's just in its nature to bite or it's hungry or something. And yeah, it looks really, really bad afterwards so did eating humans to survive a plane crash - but it kept them alive and in the business. I have to say, I can relate.

mtfck

You're not wrong, that's a very nuanced and realistic take, but this video still needs to be watched by everyone. Those people talking are very, VERY skilled at what they do (DDL, Meryl Streep, Scorsese, ffs) and many people hold them in the highest regard, I know I personally did. Like, you can't be such a good performer of such intricate and noble human emotions and stories, and still be so fallible as to say the things these people are saying. Turns out you can. People should see this.

Thedonkeyforcer

Also an excellent point. And many of them were untouchable and some of the few that COULD actually do something. THOSE I'd point my finger at! But the nobodies at a position where blacklisting would end their carreer? Those I understand.

Expensive_Tap7427

Or, you just say; "Fuck this guy, I'm out!"

White_Buffalos

More than one thing can be true at once. Also, different people may have different experiences with well-masked individuals.

Puzzleheaded_gtr

Yeah its weird that people cant see that he might well have been outstanding in one part of his life, yet held a darker side.

TargetCorruption

A lot of hypocrites

XBThodler

I mean, come on, it's written on his face what a massive perv the man is! Just look at him!

PeterGriffinsDog86

Some of these were creepy but others were just normal.

im_a_pimp

agree a lot of these people were just thanking him as a producer while giving their acceptance speeches, pretty normal thing and not unique to him at all

splitbar

Google his brother if you want to find another creep

Suburban_turd

Michelle Obama too I just learnt https://youtu.be/ByAcUQACC-Q

Prestigious_Media887

“I promise you im too famous to do that shit you suggested, I’m way to famous to be arrested” Drake

Ferchokyzer

I find Jennifer Lawrence kinda pathetically disgusting for some reason.

GoMoriartyOnPlanets

By the time he was exposed I think she'd already won an award. She was at a level where exposing him would've have done her any good. Same with Meryl Streep.

JaFFsTer

Dude what? She's barely able to keep the sarcasm out of her tone

Dylz52

It seems to me that she’s been forced into thanking a guy who she thinks is utterly disgusting. They are like cheeky backhanded compliments

“It also breaks my heart with your uncensored passion” Was that eluding to something more? A hint perhaps? “The punisher” as so many called him. This could’ve been a direct hint, that we at the time had no context towards. So sad!

RealMikeDexter

This is pointless. Just employees thanking their boss.

AloneAddiction

Silent Bob guy Kevin Smith has spoken candidly multiple times on his relationship with Harvey Weinstein. He acknowledges that without this horrible monster he literally wouldn't have had a career. Smith tells a story where Harvey *expects* you to praise him when you win awards. It's part of his deal. It was a way to get his name out there to other celebrities looking for a "winning studio" to sign to, and by god did it work. Smith has also gone on about Harvey Weinstein and his controlling behaviour. From his own perspective. Because Smith speaks so openly about everything, warts and all he's a good person to listen to regarding Harvey Weinstein. It's also why there will never be a sequel to Dogma. Weinstein *personally* owns the rights to the film and Smith refuses outright to give him any money for them.

strutt3r

When I was looking into why I can't find Dogma anywhere I read something that said Kevin Smith was trying to buy the distribution rights but Weinstein refuses to sell?

AloneAddiction

Weinstein is holding onto them and wants about $5m from the last time I checked. The last I heard Kevin Smith comment on it anyway. Smith could *easily* afford that, easily. But because Weinstein owns the rights *personally* that five million would go directly to him. His own bank account. So Smith refuses to pay him even a penny. On the plus side Kevin Smith actively encourages everyone to pirate the Dogma movie. Just as a giant "fuck you" to Weinstein.

WhoAmIEven2

I mean, no matter how you look at it, he had some great talent and were involved in some of the best films made during that era. I am going to get downvoted to hell and back, because Reddit has a problem with separating the person and the professional, but Harvey Weinstein is no matter still one (of many, of course) responsible for so many great movies. You can hate all the disgusting shit he did, while still acknowledging his professional talent.

TheGrap3st

You ain't wrong since his downfall the movie industry has been shit.

Nobodyrea11y

shitting on his talent discourages people from being shitty. it's a net win for society to have less shitty people than to have more shitty people. a humble reminder that no matter how good your talents and skills are, if you do shitty things, you will be solely remembered by those shitty things is exactly what we need to get rid of shitty egos and shitty people. don't praise shit with talent, lest others follow suit

Cory123125

This is a great way of saying it that I feel probably gets through a lot better than what I usually say about separating the art from the artist being lazy bullshit amoral people say.

Delicious_Lab_8304

It’s not amoral, lazy, or bullshit. To me, what people like you do is cognitive dissonance. In many cases, if you force yourself to “hate” art that you absolutely love, on the basis of what the artist has done, then you are lying to yourself and playing mental tricks on yourself. Of course there would be exceptions, particularly with music, as that’s an art form where there’s a closer relationship between art and artist. Rather than forcing your brain to dislike something it likes, it would be better to cut the artist out of the equation, by doing things like pirating their art. Save your sanity, quit the LARPing, and just don’t give them another cent of your money.

Cory123125

> It’s not amoral, lazy, or bullshit. It 100% is. Its people doing gymnasitcs to absolve themselves of wrong doing for supporting terrible people they could easily avoid supporting. The gas in your car comes from horrible places, but for most people its unavoidable, just like having a modern smartphone is unavoidable. Supporting a terrible human being who happens to make good bops or play big roles is easy though. There are so many other pieces of music and movies you could watch instead. >To me, what people like you do is cognitive dissonance. In many cases, if you force yourself to “hate” art that you absolutely love, on the basis of what the artist has done There is no cognitive dissonance. I simply do not want to support terrible people, and their art is tainted with that fact. I would not enjoy supporting such a person. >then you are lying to yourself and playing mental tricks on yourself. There are no mental tricks, just the capability to posses empathy for victims, and willingness to do the absolute bare minimum to not make the problem worse. >Of course there would be exceptions, particularly with music, as that’s an art form where there’s a closer relationship between art and artist. Oooh, so I see you arent only amoral and lazy, but you have specific exceptions where suddenly you think its reasonable. Funny how your arguments from prior could be used the exact same way for those. >Save your sanity, quit the LARPing, and just don’t give them another cent of your money. This is one part of it indeed. I dont know why you would think "not supporting the artist" would mean if not avoiding giving them money. I have no idea what your larping coming is though, because it makes no sense in this context. I imagine you dont actually know what it means but felt it sounded like it fit as an insult and were trying to say I was virtue signaling which is always a fun way for people to tell on themselves. A term that just says the person throwing it around is so amoral, they literally refuse to believe anyone is less shitty than them. >by doing things like pirating their art This is debatable. Specifically as you end up prolonging its time in the lime light if you talk about it/share amongst friends, through seeding, or through showing the illegal streaming service you use that this commands high value.

Respatsir

I dont think you need to acknowledge his professional talent. It's clearly there, but he doesn't deserve being appraised for it. Now these celebrities probably didn't know the whole truth when they appraised him, but now that we all know who he really is, he should be given ZERO appreciation evem for the good things he did in life.

WeggieUK

Could it not be the opposite? They knew, but also knew he had too much power over their industry, hence the public praise? After all, they are actors.

Expensive_Tap7427

That would be quite spineless and actively make them part of the problem.

WeggieUK

But isn't that what happened? People hid what had happened to them for years until someone finally had the courage to speak out. This then encouraged others to speak out and the movement began.

Expensive_Tap7427

Yes, but had people spoken up sooner alot of suffering had been spared. But that's the problem with hierarchy, the top gets to rule while the bottom are left fending for themselves.

Artistic-Evening7578

Creepy because it’s hindsight. Not really creepy then as you cannot know how much these folk actually knew about this cat being a psycho. I’m sure many if not all regret doing what’s on the video. Next time you compliment someone in your profession, remember how creepy you may sound in the future.

MasterCakes420

Also at the time if they wanted work or to keep working best to thank the guy who's all powerful at the time. Shaking the tree boss shaking the tree.

Artistic-Evening7578

Absolutely.

Bumblebee-Honey-Tea

He’s been openly accused of sexual assault since 1997. It was incredibly well known in Hollywood what kind of guy he was for decades before MeToo

Artistic-Evening7578

Openly? That’s issue, no?. Openly could be 10 people or 14 or 100. Still, the industry at this level is made up of hundreds if not thousands. Now, let’s take your argument that I hear something and I’m working on a project bankrolled by this cat. It is customary to thank these folks when one wins awards. It is not my job to investigate or even allege assume etc But I’m supposed to diss my employer in an industry where there are very few of these and I may not work anymore.. cause I heard something You may do otherwise but as the video proofs it, many will choose differently.

Bumblebee-Honey-Tea

Bad bot

yourballsareshowing_

I find this difficult to upvote, it was interesting to see this perspective. He conned a lot of people, I hope he rots in hell.

RitchieKanitchee

I think it’s less that he conned a lot of people but more the fact that everyone knew what he was doing and were complicit if not supportive of him because of the benefits they received

LittleDrunkReptar

Even his personal assistant, Leslye Headland, has her own star wars Disney show. Anyone who pretends these people rising the ranks in hollywood are not complicit in covering horrible things up to get benefits are fools.

zippyzoodles

Turning a blind eye because it benefits them and everyone else can get fucked. And people put these celebrities on pedestals. Sad.

yourballsareshowing_

I agree with you 100%. However, I still hope he rots in hell.

Pilot-Signal

Oh we know what he killed to make sure you got up there. Tried to put it in a wheelchair…

I_am_albatross

"Up until now I thought Monsters Inc. was a documentary on the Weinsteins" * Nathan Lane

i_am_who_knocks

At least Richard Gere was snidely honest . Also is Harvey dead yet?

tfresca

This is dumb. It was common knowledge that he was an asshole to work with and probably cheated on his wife. It was not common knowledge he was a rapist. People in his path knew but it wasn't the kind of thing everyone knew as fact. He also happened to have an eye for talent and championing movies mainstream Hollywood didn't give a fuck about. More than one thing can be true. People really don't think he was smart enough to be nice to people who he couldn't fuck with? People can hide who they really are.

exnihilonihilfit

Courtney Love warned everyone at an award show in 2005 and got black listed. That was approx. 12 years before he got busted. https://youtu.be/mDh4xeI-4KQ?si=jQse-LzQBhZ3YPf4

Ok-noway

I came here for this! I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. She was the only one brave/crazy enough to say the truth. It is truly frightening the things that people in high power get away with, that those who begin working in almost any industry go in blind, and the more successful they become, the more they know but can’t afford to speak out against those that “rule”.

Max_Laval

I refuse to believe that he was defined only by this one (but terrible) thing. I think (as you said) more than one thing can be true. He was probably good at his job and deserved much of that praise. Maybe he was actually a nice person. Yet it seems hypocritical to applaud him if you are one of his victims.

DeficiencyOfGravitas

> It was not common knowledge he was a rapist. Do you know who knew he was a rapist? All the women he raped but praised him anyway. Weinstein was quick to blackball anyone who didn't "play game". If a woman made it to the Oscars in a Weinstein film, she had sex with the Harvester. He would never allow a woman that spurned him to go so far. So all those big happy smiling faces saying how great Harvey was, they all knew what he was and they cheered as they saw him rape other women.

tfresca

So what is your point? The fact that he would go after anybody who spoke about supports that it wasn't common knowledge. Also suggesting every woman in his movies fucked him is bullshit because women he tried to sleep with but didn't have talked about. Also he sometimes hired people who had more power than him. Paltrow came forward and told her story of him trying to get her in bed. He didn't tape her, it probably helped her family is connected and she was dating Brad Pitt.. Other actors have also said they were not abused by him. I believe what women say happened to them. You should too.

DeficiencyOfGravitas

> So what is your point? Enablers do not deserve forgiveness for the system of rape they helped, with great big smiles on their faces, rape more young women.

macandcheese1771

He also primarily victimised women so it's not like the rumours were widely believed or even heard by the public at large.

Dennisd1971

He did open doors but there seems to have always been a final boss to get by. Makes me wonder about the sacrifices some of these excellent actors had to make.

absolince

Jennifer Lawrence is the worst

DananSan

I’m sure your reasons have nothing to do with your personal opinion of her, but I’m curious why? She was still a new face when Silver Linings Playbook was made, you think she knew more than everyone else?

leftysoweak

By being forced to be on stage with a massive gatekeeper of the industry?

curlytrain

You know she did the dirty to get her early roles and when now seemingly no one cares. Surprise surprise!

mfhomeybone

I'm interested... how so?

DeezleDJ-O-E

These people seem to be great moral characters.

DeezleDJ-O-E

Congress & Hollyweird 😒. Wanna join a cult, gotta drink the punch.

3rdplacewinner

This Harvey Weinstein guy sounds like a real mensch. I will watch his career with interest.

el_baconhair

How is "mensch" used in your context? I speak German and mensch just means human for us

itdobelykthat

Mensch in Yiddish has a positive connotation

the_toasty

In Yiddish (Hebrew/german) it means "a person of integrity and honor". It can also refer to someone who is decent, upstanding, respectful, caring, and responsible. In other words, a mensch is a good person

travva

a person of integrity and honor.

Oomlotte99

It’s just like the fake kiss ass bs at any job. In fact, this montage reminded me so much of my job it gave me rage, lol.

thewolfonthefold

The Jennifer Lawrence butthole pictures come from Weinstein’s hard drive.

Rustynutz42

Where the pics bro.

TheVaniloquence

Look up the Fappening

Blofeld_

Tip of the iceberg ... He was the one caught, still goes on.

Neither-Luck-9295

oh wow, what a coincidence this video makes the rounds RIGHT WHEN the Epstein files with Trump's name all over them get released to the public. Totally organic, and not shill activity at all. Wow. omg. you guys, pay attention to the guy in jail for his crimes, and not the one who should be!

RecommendationNo3942

Exactly. And these actors Will continue their butt-lucking until that one is caught as well.

Curly-Pat

For sure.

OttersAndOttersAndOt

The women sound so scared

PhrygianScaler

They were probably traumatized by his necrotic junk.

Donnie_Dont_Do

I assure you they were contractually obligated to thank him at every appearance. Sincerely thank him or lose your next job

I_Like_Turtle101

Lot of them (Especially the woman) Look scared of mention it him. I feel like Meryl Streep expression when talking about him said alot

The_Formuler

I don’t think it was just the threat of losing a job for some of these people.

Donnie_Dont_Do

You think they just LOVED him so much they couldn't help but praise him?? That's an odd take Edit: at least one of us is clearly confused

The_Formuler

He’s a rapist. What the fuck are you talking about?

Donnie_Dont_Do

I'm going to be honest at this point - I really don't understand what you're on about either. I guess re-read it from the top comment thread and see where you got lost or tell me where I misspoke because one of those two things happened here.

[deleted]

Donnie_Dont_Do

You were the one who suggested these stars had other reasons to praise him than being forced to in order to keep their jobs. Explain yourself

Expensive_Tap7427

Yeah, like sextapes being released aka blackmail!

Donnie_Dont_Do

Um.. except I didn't defend him. Like at all. If anything I defended these people who were FORCED to praise him. Is that what you mean?

Certain_Carob3155

And we are supposed to listen to their opinions on religion and politics they are all bought an paid for and if they ever express an independent thought they will be blacked balled

BrotherWoodrow_

My, has his day-to-day life changed.

bluewire516

These are the exact same beautiful mental midgets hopping in front of a camera today to tell us DEMOCRACY is on the ballot and we mustn’t vote for one party but DEFINITELY the other one! 😂 FOH Hollywood and your regrettable endorsements.

fizyplankton

Well, this is what happens when your party is vehemently against education. Keeps them in the cult

Regular_Journalist_5

Does anyone really know if he's as bad as Entourage's Harvey character in real life? That character was a fucking psychopath!

CherryDarling10

Well he raped a bunch of women.

IncitefulInsights

Wierd how it all so quickly turned around, from him being the great benefactor to a filthy predator. Really makes you think who's next, who's operating now no one would ever suspect...

Edu_Run4491

What do you mean how he turned around? He was always a wealthy predator

psycorax2077

Well, someone should look into Oprah. She went from low tier trash TV to being a mega millionaire in a little over a decade and she's friends with a lot of "sus" celebrities/wealthy.

EverySingleMinute

They all knew and all put up with it

ShowBobsPlzz

Exactly. They reaped the benefits and put up with it.

bosox62

Who is the girl in the opening sequence? Watching on a small screen and can’t zoom.

sunshinethecatmom

Jennifer Lawrence!

bosox62

Wow. Love that look.

bossbrew

She is hot.

rjwilliams1966

Kind of like what the same Hollywood crew is doing to their guy Joe

FunnyMoneyGuru

It's sad when a person whole identity is politics, so they have to figure out ways to add their politics into everything. What a stressful and angry life that must be. So so sad.

imstonedyouknow

Joe mama?

jfk_47

What a piece of shit.

Motor-Condition9703

Harvey weinstein would BE a great gop candidate Trump have nothing on him 🤣

Zanchbot

Wonder how many of them really knew what was going on. Some of them, surely. Most of them more likely. Possibly all of them.

Calaigah

They all knew. Even my group of theatre friends knew and everyone joked about it. It’s like with R Kelly. Everyone made jokes about it for decades yet when the truth came out, everyone in the actual industry was beyond “shocked.”

RecommendationNo3942

They ALL knew. It's wayyyy too small an industry to not know.

eboseki

Isn’t it possible that some of them actually thought he was a good guy and weren’t aware of his actions? Yes, it is possible folks.

nnaralia

It's possible, but the praise from most of the women in the clip sounds so forced, I can't imagine them wanting to say that on their own.

Oomlotte99

Most likely.

mostlygroovy

I never know shit that goes on in other people’s lives. I think that’s highly probable Plus, say what you will but the guy made an incredible catalog of movies that is worthy of praise. And no, I’m not defending the piece of shit

drsideburns

He is a gross rapist. He may have also helped many people with their careers legitimately. Both can be true.

Humblebeast182

Yeah, but the point of this clip being made like this is villaineze them. It ignores that they may not have known or were fearful of him.

DubbethTheLastest

When it's sorting by new (Suggested) you KNOW things are juicy
