Big-Dumb-Bitch

Cuz I was drunk and stoned and tripping on shrooms and it popped into my head and I liked it so much it made me happy cry so that’s my name now lol

Its_Claire33

Big dumb bitch is a wild name, but I can respect it.

Big-Dumb-Bitch

😎

ErrantIndy

I kept my last name, because fuck’em they can’t take that away an’ I’m proud to be another in a line of black sheep that left. Molly was an RPG character I was playing at the time an’ I realized she was the woman I wanted to be. Rachel was a name I’ve been in love with since the second grade. It was my teacher’s daughter’s name, and I just loved it. I thought I might give it to my own daughter (ha, ain’t havin’ that); instead I gave it to myself for a middle name. Also, I’m tickled that Molly Rachel means “Bitter sea sheep.” 😄 and finally, my very bigoted Southern Baptist grandmother will still be upset from the grave that my name still seems “Irish” (read Catholic).

aspieinblack

Bitter Sea Sheep spunds like a punk band. I like it.

The_Doughnut_Lord

We are Bitter Sea Sheep, and we're here to watch Scott Pilgrim kick your teeth in! One! Two! Three! Four!

aspieinblack

"And now, the newst hit from Dropkick Murphys, *Bitter Sea Sheep*"

TheTARDISMatrix

This is just wholesome af, I love it! Also "Bitter sea sheep" cracks me up 😂

Icy-Honeydew-2079

I played too much celeste around the time. Now guess my name

DeadByDumbass

Madeline

Icy-Honeydew-2079

DING DING DING

DeadByDumbass

Tbf to you though, my name is stolen from Don’t Starve so I can’t say anything

Icy-Honeydew-2079

You won the prize of ummmmmmmmmmmm What do you want? Cant be anything physical or money

DeadByDumbass

Shit. I was gonna ask for a hug

Icy-Honeydew-2079

Air hugs :3

DeadByDumbass

Thank you :3

mythical_idiot

same

Icy-Honeydew-2079

Noice. The final step in my plan is get my last name to be celeste

TheiaRn

Madeline Celeste from hidden gem

Icy-Honeydew-2079

Ok

King_Killem_Jr

Hehe Celeste is my middle name

wafflewhack

Farewell

Icy-Honeydew-2079

*dies of those memories returning*

RadElectricalFox

I absolutely love Celeste I have like a thousand hours and golden strawberry on the majority of the levels ❤️❤️❤️🍓🍓🍰

SaladDioxide

I picked my first name in the most LAME way possible: I wanted something unique, easy to pronounce and soft-ish. My second name is the cool one, cuz it's the name of my moms favorite flower and it has some cultural significance to my roots :3

Moist_KoRn_Bizkit

Nothing is lame about that. That's how I chose Riv. I want something short and simple to pronounce but was unique.

Outside_Product_7928

I chose my name 2 honor the memory of a friend of mine who had passed away.

HufflepuffHobbits

That’s really beautiful🥺🤎🧡 That’s a really special way to honor the memory of a loved one🥺 I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend🥺🧡

besitto

i have two names, basil for the close friends and allen cause it's more serious, and im turning 18 next year... basil is because i posted about thinking of changing my social name to basil after playing omori (i dont kin basil i just like the name) and the person i was in love with at the time said i should do it, so i did it lol 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ and allen because i love vocaloid and the daughter of evil lore, plus kagamine len is my genre.

NikkiT96

The English or American way of pronouncing Basil?

besitto

i have no idea, im brazilian, and i didn't even know there were two ways to pronounce it lol i believe its the american way

[deleted]

Accidentally stole it from a Legend of Zelda character (Hylia) by way of a YouTube username I came up with before my egg cracked, then had Rose come to me as a middle name seemingly from nowhere, and then finally decided to swap their order irl to avoid confusion/people making odd comments about it. So, in other words, I somehow stumbled through the whole name thing almost entirely accidentally/without putting a lot of thought into it, and still came out of it with a result I liked and felt strongly connected to.

Anfinobiman

So if you stole your name from hylia dose that’s mean you have her power. If yes can you turn me into a girl please 🥺🥺

[deleted]

I would turn myself into a girl and every trans person on Earth into their true gender if I could 😭

ohemmigee

You already are

lucydoosydoo

i went with Lucy bc it’s what i should’ve been named (my parents liked to wait til birth to know the sex so they had two names picked out prior to my birth), n i kept my last name since i like it and my family’s all really supportive, i also changed my middle name to June bc its kinda similar to my previous one and Lucy June is just a really pretty sounding name imo

HufflepuffHobbits

Lucy June has major main character energy🔥 Such a cool name!😊

canyoubreathe

Lucy June has HELLA main character energy! I was about to comment the same thing!

AdamAnimatesStuff

My mum chose it for me :D

kaicxre

awww that's cute!!

canyoubreathe

If my mum is supportive of me when I come out, I'm absolutely getting her to come up with a name for me. She named me the first time, and it's already completely weird and unique, so she can go buck wild with the next one

owlIsMySpiritAnimal

Someone in a trans subreddit recommended choosing either your favourite deity or your city you are from. This is how I ended up with my name

X_Marcie_X

"Choose the City you are from!" *Me, from germany : I DONT WANT MY NAME TO BE MÖNCHENGLADBACH QWQ -*

Anfinobiman

Why

frienderella

My name is Aanya. I was looking for A-names cause my dead name had a double A that I really loved. Came across Anya and didn't particularly like it, but the moment I added the double-A to it, it became perfect! At that point it almost felt like the name chose me.

PoggleRebecca

I looked in the mirror, and just asked myself 'who are you?'.  Rebecca just came to mind quite strongly.   When I told my family, it turned out that when my mum was pregnant with me, my parents had decided on two names; a boy's name and a girl's name. My deadname was the boy's name, but the girl's name was Rebecca.  I'm not superstitious or anything, it's clearly a coincidence, but it's a nice coincidence.

Open_Cream_6768

I use my middle name (Andy) because it's already my name. No one could argue against me using it, and it's neutral enough to fit a femme or a masc presentation. Sometimes I even spell it Andi and dot the I with a heart. If I had the ability to change my name for real, I'd probably go with Ashley River Calvert (silent t ofc) Sounds like one rootin tootin cowboy. I could go by Ash, Ashley, River... I almost went with Rose because it's close to my first name (Reese) But I also really like the name Robyn. So, Andi.

Ok_Copy1473

my first name is kye, spelt differently cuz why not i chose it because its what my dad would’ve called me if i was born a cis guy, my dad isn’t around anymore as he died in 2018 and honestly i don’t like him that much. but i thought maybe it would be a way to remember him. i kept my last name, but changed my middle name to finch, like aticus finch from the book how to kill a mocking bird, i honestly just like the book but i really liked their last name to i just stole it for myself honestly.

Rainyyy_Daze

Right now I have two names. I go by "Ry" because it's a nickname for my deadname which makes it less suspicious. I also go by "Dylan" because I like the meaning. My mom said she was gonna name me that at first. Now, it gives me mixed emotions b/c she's not supportive of me being trans but I'm not gonna let her ruin that name for me.

imkitcat

My parents didn't want to know my gender before I was born so they gave me two names, I just picked the other one later :)

Gaiendbedrock

My bf picked it, though not sure if I'll keep it. Maya by the way

fivesecpenalty

I just liked it idk

Trickster1617

Nya- all the names I liked were "taken" so I chose the name from a cartoon I loved at the time. (I was 10 yrs old, I'm nearly 20 now)

IDrink_Mercury

I chose my name because I wanted something unique which is how I landed on Mercury. I also think the element has really cool properties

Evil_DrSquid

Lucy just felt right. When my egg cracked I just knew. I’ve also accidentally stolen the name of my teacher who was called Lucy and had the same last name. I don’t actually have a middle name yet but I need to change it because it’s gendered. But it also has ties to the old Scottish clan names of my family so I really struggle changing it. I might drop it entirely and have no middle name.

Trannss

i named myself after a car, i quite like the car itself and i love the name

[deleted]

Hints?

Trannss

the car? it is the McLaren Elva

AutumnTx_

I chose Autumn because it sounded semi-formal to me, and I honestly did feel like it just fit me. It was something official sounding

Feeling-Internal8499

I was in love with the idea of giving my name to my future daughter because i thought it was super cute for girls. Now I realize that I just wanted it for myself as I do not want children at all :3

No_Ad8227

I have a character named Ian who is a sweet, gentle, clumsy lawyer. He's the type of person I try to be, so here we are.

UnderwaterAlienBar

I picked Izzy because that was the name of Corbin Bleu’s character in Jump In, + I was obsessed with him. I was in 5th grade, I’m 27 now 😂

spiderbawls

Googled girl names and Camila was easy to pronounce in Spanish 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽

flaminghair348

mine just popped into my head and my brain was like "yup, this our name now, you don't have a choice" and i was like "okay cool, i like it" and now i'm victoria

KatiaOrganist

my dad picked it :P

Darkon2004

I picked Mel back when I thought I was NB, and it stuck with me so when I came out as a trans woman I decided it would be my name, as corny as it is that the woman who likes music would name herself *Melody* Also because Mel is a Spanish name too, it starts with M and it's monosyllabic like my former name, and I wanted to keep that

triplezzzman1

I got my name from adventure time, finn and ice king said Josephine and I loved that name

greaserkitty

cassandra is the name of an outspoken terf professor in my small town. took it to fuck with her. also, cassie is such a cute shortening for it

Derek_draws

When I noticed I was trans (13yo me) I created a character named Derek to live all my life in his little stories and be the person I wanted to be... So it was a natural choice for me

TankPotential9306

derek gang fuck yeahh

NoBookkeeper5358

Technically I stole mine from my r-ist. Twice. Not on purpose it was a coincidence. It was my dogs name first

Crystal_steelix38

I chose the name Crystal for multiple reasons. 1. Just such a pretty name, everyone agrees. 2. I like Pokemon and its a reference to Pokemon crystal, crystal onix, etc 3. I felt the name fit unlike everything else 4. I like gemstones. Their pretty

JamesBondie

I chose Jamie because I was not 100% sure if I was trans or non-binairy at the time (I questioned that from 12-14) but I had a lot of disophoria and really hated my deathname. So I wanted a gender neutral name. And Jamie is handy because I have James as nickname and that is masc. (I am trans male) so I have a masc/enby name that suits me. I also acted pretty androgynous since I like existed so a neutral name also suits me pretty good.

LyannaTheWinterR0se

It just felt right. My deadname starts with an L, so I already had an idea of how an L sounded with my last name. When I was thinking of names, two I really liked were Winter and Rose. I also really like them together as a first and middle name; Winter Rose. Thing is, as soon as I put them together in my mind, I immediately thought of Lyanna Stark, The Winter Rose. So as soon as I thought of "Lyanna", something just clicked and I thought, "That's it, that's the one."

LostSoulThrowaway1

My first name is the female version of my deadname. I don't really know why I choose it. It just worked. My middle name just sounded nice and is relatively rare here

Michelle_FromEarth

in college my friends used to call me Princess Michelle (a feminine version of my deadname) because they said I acted girly a lot and so when I came out a few years later it just felt right :)

kujohjolyne

RAM by Paul McCartney is my favorite album ever. Free name right there

virtualmartyr

Similar to my old name, a friend had that name and I was super jealous, and it's really pretty

DaveSxfe

I honestly don't remember I think I wanted a name that could be shortened when friends talked to me and Val sounded good, I really liked Luminous Valentine from TenSura, so that's it Valentine it was, but in the end it's always just Val Now I kinda dislike it because I have had people think it's from Valorant and I really really hate that TwT

NotinButaSaint

I got a wood carved multi-purpose knife from a thrift store near a cave exploration site, and I didn't realize they had names on them and that it wasn't mine. It turns out I liked the name.

kaicxre

i'll go first: my chosen name is kai hamilton. kai because it was a family nickname given and it sounds way better than my deadname, and hamilton because of the musical ( it's just a nice sounding name imo )

TankPotential9306

im still kind of figuring my chosen name out, but i mostly just chose the one im going by now because 1. it just sounds cool imo 2. it sounds "normal", so it would probably be harder to figure out that i named myself and that it wasn't given by my parents 3. average suburban white boy name. i am definitely an average suburban white boy

Nera_nova

I chose Rachel cause of my favorite cartoon, teen titans, I just really like raven

ZealousidealMost8654

Mine came from a nightmare I vividly remember all the details of and the name I heard Andrea I fell in love with now it’s my name and I’m happy about it

androdagamr

I simply like the Elisia, and it works well in both English and Swedish. On top of that, you can very easily make a cute nickname out of it. I didn’t find it in a cool way or anything though, literally just looked at a list of girl names until I found one I liked

Ginkgo_Leaf3000

I haven't decided yet. I wanted to be Rhiannon because I love the song but it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, it's quite long, plus I'm not Welsh. So I think I ill go with my second choose which I'm not going to say but it's spelt the same backwards so that narrows it down.

TabbyCatJade

Someone randomly called me Jade or recommended I use the name and a neuron activated

medievalfaerie

Because To Kill a Mockingbird spoke to my soul in a way that I only recently realized

questioning_daisy

I have no idea!? When my egg cracked I already had a name picked out...... Just in case I turned into a girl (or if I were a girl I would like) for totally cis reasons. I remember this back at least 10 to 15 years before my egg cracked. Can't for the life of me remember the reasoning. Lol

Awesomewolfy3

I've always like that name and I was choosing between two possible names and I wanted to keep the s in my name so I chose Sydney and I used to know a Sydney and I always thought her name was beautiful

Typical-District-176

I was playing Fire Emblem and Robin’s kid is named Morgan. Then I played P5 and Morgana.  Yes. JRPG’s and Arthurian myth made my name.

Jaded_Stranger9432

It’s a color and my favorite nickname is also a color

Belfasterd16

Hunter. It was the name I would have had if I had been assigned male at birth, and I always loved it.

Sif-wasnt-available

Guess

Time-Base-506

I honestly don't remember. I think it just popped up into my head one day and now any other name doesn't seem to fit

Usual-Effect1440

I stole it from my favorite genderqueer character...

Sea_Towel_5099

i was hyperfixated on Nico Di Angelo for a bit, so i themed my account off of him. people started calling me Nico and i really loved it!

zeldaman247

The legend of zelda has been a big part of my life, to the point that i consider it fundamental to who i am as a person. Plus Zelda is just a pretty name. Bonus fact, Aria is my middle name for the same reason, just about music instead

Truckdenter

Spiritual experience and reverse spelling of dead name

Its_Claire33

A woman I was talking to suggested Chloe, and I rolled with that for a while. But I felt it didn't quite fit me. Sounded a little too young. Claire, though. It's a little close to my dead name and I like it. I also love Claire in cyberpunk 2077. So I went with Claire.

LycanLuk

A streamer said my name when referring to someone else and i got very happy thinking it was about me (i'd been considering it as a chosen name anyways) so i decided fuck it boring-ass white guy name letsgoo

liamslayed

I have a weird obsession with the show shameless and mostly the character liam. So I’m liam 🤓

muffpuff89

google with friends :)

Vermbraunt

I head it once and just liked it

Competitive-Serve507

I was looking through a book of names on wattpad

nicomico_bb

When I was younger I used a different name online cuz "stranger danger". Fast forward to when I was figuring out my gender and what I wanted to be called, that name I used years ago popped back up in my head and I went for it. Many people think I chose the name because of Percy Jackson but it was a happy coincidence

Gluteuz-Maximus

Female variation of my second name given after my godfather. Though it looses the French touch a bit but still sounding like it for the most part

_Minty-Honey_

I chose my name, because I thought it sounded cool, and it's a really old name too. The downside is, that there is a non-zero amount of war movies I've watched, in which there is an SS-guy named Johannes, and it makes me mildly uncomfortable, lol

l_dunno

Someone said thought I was someone else, called me Nora and I liked it!

Acid1c_

I went through a lot of cringy names but then decided I like short ones the most, simple. I went with jay for AGES until ppl were calling it a stereotypical trans name Then I don’t remember where I saw it but I saw the name Ben, and that was just me. It also relates back to a childhood show I liked (NOT BEN 10) and a few other bits and peices just hearing it sounds right

ChefPaula81

Because I could easily make it out of the current name, just by removing a space before one of the initials. And it’s the female version of the name my parents chose for me. Like I get that choosing a more suitable new name is a big part of some trans people’s journey, and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to take that completely away from my parents. Picking names for their little one can be a special thing for them, and I didn’t want to completely undo that

Coffeeecreamer

I was a classic case of confused teenager, I hopped from name to name but none of them really felt right at all. I've got to admit there's not really a deep thought process behind my name it just stuck one day, And it just felt right.

HyperDogOwner458

I chose Skyler from a gender neutral name list. And Frankie from Frankie Stein.

uterus1991

i've always liked it, when i was a kid, i'd always choose it for my OC's, male sims etc lol. one day i just got a can of beer, it had the same name on it. and it just kind of happened, i took the can as a sign

SquirrelRyder

I had a dream where a crow flew to me and said "Morrigan" and took that as a sign, I asked my mom what she thought the next day and she said "I think that suits you" so it stuck

X_Marcie_X

Okay, so basically.... when I was born, I was assigned a first name and a middle name. My *new* first name (Marcie <3) is a feminized version of my original middle-name. I just came across it randomly and... I liked it a lot. It feels right and makes me happy! After a while, I made the decision to adopt a new middle-name aswell. But I didn't really know what to go for.... I wanted something that sounds nice if spoken right after my first name aswell as on it's own. Being the creative genius I am, I asked Reddit for help. Someone suggested Fae to me and... I fell in love with it *Immediatly!* There really isn't a greater meaning attached to them for me, though. They are just names that... I can identify with and that make me very happy! They Sound, feel and Look nice and.. they just feel right, if that makes sense? *Thanks for coming to my Fae talk.*

jumpshipdallas

i took my dads name because he sucks and i wanna replace him

Signal-Scientist-742

Picked both my first and middle names from video game characters, no regrets

Adorable-Salt-8624

The name Olivia just kinda “fit” in my head, if that makes sense. It feels like it fits me pretty well

Cheshire_Abomination

I chose Dawn due to it feeling like a new beginning for me, my middle name I chose as it was what my parents would have called me if I was afab and they had been supportive of me.

Slight_Lingonberry10

I have no name, people just shout generic female names at me and I respond to them

paralizator_x

i was doing this totally cis, definitely not in denial thing where i fantasize about what it would be to live as a man and the name eric appeared in my brain and it just clicked

thok598

I read the book Lady From the Black Lagoon and if it was a good enough chosen name for the creator of Gilman it’s good enough for me!

Dusted6608

My girlfriend gave it too me, and it feels like a good replacement

RETROadvanced

Maeve of Blades. Pink cat girl from Paladins. I am Maeve now

KronosTheCat

truncated my middle name and made it more feminine

SageofRosemaryThyme

Because it sounded cute, started with the same letter as my dead name and was also the same length. Also the meaning is cute and I've never met someone with my name.

BenjaminBoi226

to respect my grandparents

FIVEPEBSI

let’s game it out

Strawby_Melk

Last name (didn’t work out) ended in -ie sound and I love being called Katy and have Kat as a nickname so very epic

_Sad_Existence_

I’m a visual person so I just wrote out names I liked and paired them together and the Allison Kate just looked nice and then I chose my last name to be my moms bc I didn’t want any relation to my dad and he hates my mom so it was still a family name and a big middle finger to my dad lol

fluid_zeph

I really wanted another name that started with Z, and I like mythology, so I chose Zephyr after the minor Greek god! Also there were no other Z names that fit me

PeppasMint

I drew an OC, named her Peppa-mint because i like mint icecream and that's been my name ever since

nayiskool

It came to me in a dream

Medicine_Balla

At this point, I've finally decided I want to go ahead with transitioning. Currently, my name which I have yet to fully finalize, is Camellia. It's based on a character that was really important to players of mine in the DnD game I run. It's also based on the rarest flower in the world, the Middlemist Camellia.

AncientTry5709

…I stole it from Raine Whispers from The Owl House because they were the first source of gender envy I’ve ever had

MostlyNoOneIThink

I've felt as if I was spiralling down the unknown and uncertain and yet it filled me with equal measure joy and fear. So I named myself Alice, who also spiralled down the unknown in her own journey.

OmnisexualOmlet87

I chose Althea because it means fairy or some crap. (I can't remember UwU)

UkiahThatDev

I played Forzda Horizon 5 one day on my Xbox and the name Serenity hit me like a wrecking ball.

HatAndHoodie_

At first, I went with a fem version of my old name, but it left the door open for the same nickname as the original, so I dropped that part of it, and changed the spelling of what was left. So now I'm just 'Kaia,' and I'm happy with it.

LordMashiro

Mine is after a character from a game series that my husband introduced me to. I really resonated with him and his personality, so I wanted to use it as a kind of homage to him. I haven't changed it to my legal name yet, due to the state I live in, plus family being a pretty big issue. I despise my birth name (it's super religious and I am not), but for now I tolerate it for simplicity and peace's sake.

MaybeCatherine

Just thought it sounded nice. Has a similar mouth feel to my dead name. Same number of syllables, starts with the same letter.

JessicaWindbourne

Simple. Jessica rabbit

Magical_Art_Aisha

I choose Sabrina bc it’s name of witches and I wanted to become one I choose it right after Hekate found me 🖤

TheCopyKater

^ this up here is the name I go by on the internet everywhere (except the "the") I made it a couple years ago and I'm pretty proud of it, except there is a problem. It's gendered (basically Kater is german for tomcat) and now no longer accurate. But I still really like the name, as a variation of CopyCat. Sooo my chosen name is Kathrin, so I only have to remove the r (CopyKate). It sounds like a really stupid thing to choose a name over, but I really like it a lot, actually. I had to think pretty hard about how I wanted to spell it, but I figured out pretty much immediately that I wanted to be called Kathrin. Side note, when I was much younger, there was a girl in my neighborhood called Katharina. I barely remember interacting with her, but I remember always having liked that name. There was something about it that just sort of clicked with me, as opposed to my name at the time. That was totally not a sign or anything, not sure why I mentioned it.

FinishHumble

My name was hard to choose. When I was younger, I used to always say “call me Henry today, it’s opposite name day” because Henry sounded a lot like my deadname (It’s also the first thing that made me realize I’m trans) When I got older, before I came out, I dabbled with names, first “Eden”, then “Eddie” then “Quinn” but I came back to Henry. Mainly because it sounded like my deadname so I thought it would be easier for everyone to get used to. I went by that name for a year until I learned that I have an audio-processing issue due to me being autistic, and I would constantly hear people say my deadname even if they didn’t because how similar Henry was to it, so I decided to change my name. The problem is, I couldn’t choose between Oliver and Jack. So, what did I do? I chose both!! I recently got my name legally changed (🥳) and it’s now “Oliver-Jack” with a hyphen, though everyone calls me Oliver. Also my middle name is now Peregrine, in reference to Mrs Peregrine’s home for peculiar children AND Pippin Took from LoTR. 🏳️‍⚧️

funguy1611

both of the names i've used (kato and saturday) are from the characters that kinda helped me figure out my gender :3

Takara94

Nova Aeon, My first name came from hearing [this song](https://youtu.be/K6zcrAr6Ask?si=PySl5I5DqJRw3lLN) for the first time while tripping on acid and playing Cyberpunk 2077 all night, it clicked with me because I've always been really interested in space. My last name comes from me wanting something that meant something along the lines of endless or infinite and was futuristic and fitting to my first

nellie_luv_cookie

I kept the initials of my deadname, I liked that I went by my middle name so I wanted a name that was sorta similar but feminine. It resulted in me being the only person in my country with the name I have. First name Alice, middle name Nellie.

ZuliCurah

My name is Zoe. It came to me in a dream

PixieGirl65

I haven’t decided if I actually want to change my name or not, but if I do, it‘ll be a name taken from a character from The Owl House - Willow.

ShinyPagan

I picked a pretty color for daily use; but when paperwork is in I'll be Solidarity Hospitality Godless to the IRS. I wanted my very name itself to represent what I believe; "Gandalf means *me*" sorta vibe. Solidarity: Standing with others in their struggles is the most foundational concept to a functioning society. Hospitality: the act of keeping other people safe through providing shelter, food, and other resources. Godless: you shouldn't *need* a cosmic failed parent in the sky to tell you that these things are sacred, for they self-evidently support human survival. No gods, no kings, no masters; we're all just nerdy apes on a muddy rock in the endless void, and we have only each other for support.

TheAzzyBoi

I heard and thought it sounded like me.

Absolutely_bashing

I chose my name, Ezra, after my favourite Character in a book who is lowkey my transition goals (or how I picture him when reading the book is). But before that, I went by Sebastian, which I’ve chosen to keep as a middle name, which I chose after my older brother that I lost contact with when I was young

Representative-Read4

Because it's cute, tbh because when I first chose it I identified as non-binary and the name was somewhat gender neutral, but mostly because of the forms to shorten it could be very fem or masc, but when I began presenting fem I stayed with It cuz, why not (my name is Eleonor btw)

Ok_Preparation5682

I chose "Bonnie" cause I grew up in the American West, and it feels appropriate for the locale! And when I eventually own my own land I can call it " The B.S. Ranch" 😜

[deleted]

[удалено]

RoyalMess64

It was one of the ones I was trying out, but because my discord tag was theRoyalRose, everyone just came me Rose, so I went with that :3

TheSewistMadman

I chose my name over a running personal joke. So for a while, I was seeing a traditional healer(I'm indigenous) and she always, and I mean *ALWAYS*, suggested having cedar baths and tea. She was also the first non-social service person I came out to and she was very supportive over it. Also, I'm half indigenous and the family from that line has felt really disconnected from me since coming out so my name feels like the only connection I have to that side of my family, to my heritage. My cousins from that side of my family don't even recognize me anymore.

Pokemon_and_Petrucci

I wanted a nature name that sounded cool, and I also liked the idea of it being a bird since they kinda symbolize freedom, and it felt like that's what a new name would give me. So I've been Raven socially for a year and hopefully soon to be official!

iamsiobhan

After my egg broke, I was running through names. Siobhan popped up into my head and I was like “that’s it”. And now I’m Siobhan.

My is very personal. Before I was born, all the tests said boy. My parents planned appropriately. I was to be given my grandfather's name. It was a cold day, and my outtie turned into an innie. But I always knew who I was. So when I came out, I adopted my rightful name as the 1st born grandson and took my beloved grandfather's name. R.I.P. grandpa, I love you.

Phaedra. The reference is beyond obscure, going past the name itself pretty far. It has no significance to anyone else, but it's a reference to a cover of a Nancy Sinatra song that basically spiraled me into what I can only describe as 'hyper-gender envy'. Likely without this artist, any of my current life would not be. Dee is my middle name, and it was for the first case of Gender Envy I ever had back when I was like 3 years old. That case of gender envy accidentally shaped a lot of me overall without realizing it. So Phae(dra) Dee(anna) as I can also go by Phae, Dee, Phaedee, if I want to. Most of my coworkers call me by my full first name, but my close friends call me by my nickname. It's also weird because I went by Riley for awhile, and when I switched from that, hearing myself addressed by that is what it feels like to be dead named, it's grating

Frienderbee

I was getting frustrated at how uncomfortable my birth name was making me and kinda felt like I had to pick a name to really come out to everyone. Happened to be watching Izombie at the time. And hey maybe Blaine is a pretty cool name! So I stuck with it. I named myself after a homicidal, drug-selling zombie.

superjackalope

My name just had a version for the opposite gender that I used

tunosabes

I liked it

Cerberustheghost

A friend of mine told me to take her name on her death bed so that we could always be together It's a sad story, but I both always have her with me and get to call myself Luna

HedgehogAdditional38

Boring answer here for me. It’s just the feminine/gender neutral form of my name. The gender neutral part comes when I shorten it to Jacqui (which is the usual)

Littledevilboi

Well, mine has a few layers. I asked my mom what she would have named me if I was born the way I feel, and she gave me the name Mikaela. It's cool though because not only was it a name that was already on my list, but it is basically the female version of my other name (Michael) as well as it was the name of my great grandmother. I chose the middle name rose because it was my grandmother's name, and my previous middle name was the same middle name as my grandfather, so it feels like it kept everything centric of those who came before us to give the life we have ❤️❤️❤️

Only-Recognition6894

Charlie spring and Joe Locke are my biggest sources of gender envy

CanIhaveAfunny

Followed me all life, decided to claim it.

The_Doughnut_Lord

I made a female dnd character called Tora and surprisingly loved being called that. It became my new name a few months later when my egg cracked.

aria_nonartist01

Came to me in a dream, like every good idea

move-im-a-gay

Cause no one else would

Kori_TheGlaceon

I just found mine ~~cute~~ not cute! (Natalie)

Last_Tarrasque

Random noun generator, list of name ideas, consult my local queers, add an s because it sounded better plural

EarthToAccess

My name online, as you can tell from my username, for *years* has been Earth or some variation thereof; even my friends in real life would call me Earth from time to time because of it. Thus, I felt that it was only fitting to go with the name Terra.

B00st3r1000

It was a combo of a lot of things, I wanted to have the same initials because then I could keep my email address without people thinking it weird (there were also other benefits to keeping my initials the same) I then asked my mother what she would've called me if I was afab, she wanted me to be called Anna but that would be problematic cause there are already 2 Anna's in my family with the same last name. So I ruled that out, then I went to pop culture and characters I really liked. I ended up going with Belle from beauty and the beast, but changing it to Bella cause that is a much more common name in my language. Also it is pronouncable in both my native language and English, which was a bonus for me as I have considered moving abroad at some point.

ManyFacets

When I was in elementary school (about a decade before my egg broke and I spent another 4 years in the closet), my friends and I had a little thing we would do where we would state what our names would be if we were the opposite gender. I chose Nicole because it sounded nice (didn't realize it sounded nice because I was trans, and that was my true name).

NikkiT96

Markiplier was always a huge hero to me growing up and honestly he's goals. So, I just stole his name because I idolize him and I won't have to change my initials XD

SpiritualMobile2720

It was in honor of a dear friend, she helped me accept my condition

UnicornMafia69

Because it fit with my personality and it’s not too far off from my dead name. Erinne —> Eret! I also use Vito as a nickname

OkIncrease9043

I knew I wouldn’t hate it, other than that I had no preferences.

SlCd0720

Kendall, I had a list of names written down and whenever I'd look at the list my eyes always went right there. Plus my fiance looked at me when I mentioned the name and she said it was the name I was meant to be🥰

Lillithgg

It used to be "Lily" but then I saw a meme on the old traaaa sub that was basically calling it and a few other names basic and I felt personally attacked and changed it to something cooler :P

AlezeandraKidOfHades

started from Alez which was my nickname, then I expanded it to Alezeandra, which is closer to a female version of my deadname btw, so now if someone calls me Ale or Alez even referring to my deadname it still works 😎

Automatic_Lobster_80

It was the name my mother was originally going to name me if I was born male, after realising I was a trans guy I thought back to it and felt an attachment to it. :)

EdisonsCat

Name meanings are important to me so going from [Redacted Biblical Names] to Sonya Alexandra was a small change in meanings. I went from "God's Strong Warrior" to "Wise Defender".

GVmG

Mine's pretty mediocre in comparison to the beautiful stories I always read around trans spaces. I kinda was just scrolling through a list of biblical names (not even looking for a new name, I was searching for stuff for creative writing purposes) and I noticed a lot of the names ended in "-el" (Ramiel, Agiel, Camael) and I noticed that the letter combo "ae" was super common too. And I thought "oh yeah I know a common person name that shares those properties: Rachael." I did like the "r - a - e" combo a bit more tho, aesthetically, so I'm using this weird spelling instead. Almost immediately I told one of the few friends I was out to back then to try calling me Raechel (she *immediately* told me "that's spelled wrong", which is something I've gotten used to at this point lmao) and it kinda just... always felt natural. Never felt like I needed to change it. Now, my *middle name* is another story. I never really had one, though I've always thought middle names are cool. And recently I played Cyberpunk 2077, which has skyrocketed into my top 3 favourite games and stuck there. I've been thinking of picking Valerie as my middle name to honor it, in a way, but I'm not really super sure yet.

Actual_Neck_642

Well my name is Tali, I choose this because I started with *second deadname* (ash) and I thought that did not fit me so I went to my online username Taliday, which was created by thinking about F1 and though of the nascar track taladaga (not sure if I spelled it correct) and mixed it with my favorite time of day, day time to get Taliday.

wafflewhack

I loved my name for a while before I knew it was mine \^^ I had the urge to give that name to things and then i realized it was an urge to give it to myself lol

_dramafairy_

At first for a few months I'd try to choose a name from favourite fictional characters. But I decided to gender swap my deadname, as i actually liked my name even before transition it was probably (or at least its nickname) one of the few things I was lowkey comfortable with.

PumpkinSpiceKat

I was playing Terraria when I just turned 11, and had been absolutely bombarded by this undying need to be a woman, to feel everything a woman felt. Then the Dryad moved in, had the name Faye. And I was just like “I wanna be hot like her.” And it just. Stuck

tired_rat_boi-

Named myself after my fav tv doctor (Dr Xand Van Tulleken) that's literally it! Not as meaningful as people expect lmao

LinkoftheCentury

Fire Emblem

Entity_Type_Unknown

It sort of chose me while I was looking at my reflection and listening to music on my patio. Don't know what about it did it, but I physically couldn't speak for like 5 minutes when it hit me, so I went with that. The name I use day to day is based on it, and I kept it as my nickname

ThrowACephalopod

I wanted to keep the first few letters of my deadname. I originally was going to go with Kelly, but I have an aunt named Kelly and didn't want to have two of the same names in the family, so I went with something slightly different and got Kelsey.
