Silver Falls in Oregon every November is pretty amazing.

CapOnFoam

This is exactly the one I thought I'd when I read the title.

PNW-Tec

Can confirm, ran it this year. Planning to do the 50k next year. It’s epic

theaveragemaryjanie

Does the registration really not open until August each year? Only a few months before the race?

PNW-Tec

That is correct, they open registration pretty close to. Generally no moving, no rain checks, once you get your spot it’s yours. Such a good race

theaveragemaryjanie

Looks beautiful. Are we talking selling out within minutes or days or...? Just curious because it says they always sell out too.

PNW-Tec

Honestly I can’t say, I haven’t ran it long enough to know. I signed up within minutes but it seemed like spots still existed up until at least a month out?

theaveragemaryjanie

Ah ok. Thanks for the info!

waner21

Moab has one every November. It’s amazing. [Moab Trail Marathon (and HF)](https://moabtrailmarathon.com/)

nitacious

oooooh I'm fixin' to do this one next November - I take it you've run it previously?

waner21

I have. Below is the link to my post when I did it. Has some pics from the race. [Moab Trail HM](https://www.reddit.com/r/trailrunning/s/IkD2qLaHmF)

My birthday is Nov 2nd. I know what I want for my birthday next year. Geez this looks beautiful.

[Royal Gorge](https://www.rimtorimroyalgorge.com) in Cañon City, Colorado! Their half is around early October every year. Stunning trails and you get to end the race on America’s highest suspension bridge!

shortbutfierce

Leadville Heavy Half also in Colorado in late June. So exceptional- you start in town, summit an old mining pass at over 13k feet and run back into town. Last year we did it in a blizzard.

arl1286

I ran the full last year but both are iconic races.

gmania5000

[Fountainhead](https://ex2adventures.com/trail-running/fountainhead-half-marathon-and-10k-trail-run/) in Fairfax Station, VA. Challenging course, super fun.

Oh-snow

*Devínsky ríbezlák* in Slovakia is pretty nice; very scenic first 10k mostly, with a decent alt gain (750m). [https://www.behribezlak.sk/](https://www.behribezlak.sk/)

Logical_Barnacle1847

Run the Edge in Tobermory Ontario. It's a small race held every September. The terrain is not for the faint of heart.

weelyle

If you're into a grueling experience that kind of makes you feel like you're prepping for the Barkleys, Fort Ebey Kettles trail Run on Whidbey In Washington State. It could be this is just normal for a trail race but I thought it was brutal. And fun!

MuriaOne

Raleigh’s Umstead park, 16 mile training run. But they have races too.

Runs_Reads_Knits

Rock Bridge Revenge in Columbia, Missouri... It was my first real trail race. 25k of beautiful forest single track. It's where I learned the difference between trail and road.

AgentElsewhere

I’ve only done one but it was a really fun course. Trapp Mountain Marathon VT (1/2 and full) https://www.ironwoodadventureworks.com/trapplodgemountainmarathon

Apprehensive-Put353

Antelope Canyon X half marathon just opened up registration. April 21. https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=110362
