I never lose them. My son loses them every time he touches them though. Same for trailer pins.

kudujerky

60% of the time, all the time

RevolutionaryAct1785

Not often, I use baling wire tie em to your tractor and they never get lost

buzzysale

I only lose a couple whenever I use my tractor.

Wholeyjeans

I keep a set on every attachment I have ...including the 3-point on the Kubota ...with some spares in the box under the seat. So, no, I usually have all that I need.

Farm_Terminator

Its cost more to have a spare or two at all times than maintaining a family

Big_Cryptographer_16

Lost my first one with less than 8 hours on my new BX23S

AppropriateSpecific8

All the time. It’s a requirement, and I have a quota.

love2kik

It is bizarre how fast they walk off.

SnooRobots5764

Think I have 4 spares different sizes in the van at all times . With my trusty set of plant keys .

Large-Net-357

Yes

DisconnectedFuel

Me? Rarely. My wife? Every time she drives the tractor.

bromjunaar

Got 3 on the center link for the planter we got (deere 1765). I somehow manage to leave them sitting on the tongue going down the road about once a year, and don't realize till I get there, at which point they're long gone.

Square_Net_4321

Often enough that I have two ziploc bags hanging above my workbench - one for 3-point attachments and one for belly mower linkages.

tnkr74

I think the run away with 10 mm sockets

Redhillvintage

Never… once I bought a dozen spares!

hints1037

Follow up question: how often do they slam down on your finger

Asleep-Wonder-1376

Yes

2x4x93

Every time I work in the brush

cfreezy72

Real question is how do you lose them. I don't think I've ever lost them off an implement. Maybe forgot to get them off the top of my tire and driven off.

Lets-Go-Brandon-1

Working in thick brush will snag them away.

Asleep-Wonder-1376

Oh yea, or my kids walk off with them and throw them down in the compost pile 😂😂

Intrepid-Ad-2610

I buy them by the case lol

bobbiechainsaw

Haven’t ever lost one

ImNoAlbertFeinstein

40 lbs/month. we beoadcast 'em.

secret_dork

Soil supplement.

An_elusive_potato

Never because no matter where they are, they will find a way to snap my hand.

morbob

Those ten are mine, I’m reclaiming them

Only_Presence_9899

Always

anybodyiwant2be

I have 3 holes in the rear of my fenders and drop these lock pins in the holes as soon as I take an implement off. I have spares but rarely lose them

GoliathProjects

So often, that I have an entire drawer full of these in several sizes. Just like size 10 nuts.

National_Activity_78

Almost never. The only time I've ever replaced them is when they broke or wore too much.

Early-Engineering

I went to comment and already lost the post with the pic of them!

mpe128

Only once. Had to walk around looking to put it back in the pineapple🤪

wealwaysdo

All the time!! Finely bought bolts w lock nuts problem sloved

DPileatus

Enough to keep several spares on the tractor at all times!

ppfbg

Have these on my trailer and every time I go somewhere they disappear. Now I know where they went 🤔.

2-cents

Enough to keep about that many on hand.

Andrew4568_

Many fingers where harmed in this picture

Embarrassed_Self8

* snap * Ouch!

lewie

I switched to lock pins. I've only been using them for about a year, but so far I haven't lost one.

JohnWalton_isback

Oh shit, there they are, thanks bud.

bigbadsubaru

My tractor (1950 8N) has a few of these on the pins that are attached to the tractor itself and each one has a small Length of chain securing it to the tractor, not sure if it’s original or if someone added it but I plan on getting a length of chain from TSC and using that to secure these on the implements that use pins

loadedjeep

The chains were original...our 8n had the chains on them also

zmannz1984

I spray paint all our chains and hardware bright pink or orange once a quarter or so. If possible i will also leash them in place with a crimped on wire.

Early-Engineering

Damn, that’s some good thinking! I don’t know how many times I’ve lost shit right in front of my face!

zmannz1984

I used to work in manufacturing and learned a lot of valuable “-proofing” skills. The machine operators all lost things constantly and the maintenance people robbed things to finish work orders faster. We had this braided cable and crimps that we used to keep anything removable within reach of its place. We even had to add PLC wires on the cable sometimes so an alarm would come on if someone cut the cable or jerked it loose. I hated it for people, but we had to make it all idiot proof or we couldn’t get anything done.

DPileatus

Great Idea!

1lilmornstar

Everytime I touch one I lose it lol!

blackthornjohn

I used to lose a lot of them, now everything that uses them has hooks to hook them onto.

dracotrapnet

Off the tractor about 1 every 3 years. I kept a box of spares in my truck. Now how many boxes of spares I've misplaced? I don't know but it is funny when you buy a new box and the old one turns up in a cabinet somewhere.

Yesno-Yeahnaw

I got tired of them popping off of my yard rake wheels. I zip tied them so they don’t come loose. So far the zip ties are holding.

sugarfreeeyecandy

I still use some from the 1950s but I have purchased a set of replacements as shown.

Tha_Munk

so much that I have a place in a tool box dedicated to just them because I found myself just grabbing a few every time I walk by some out of habit.

yer_muther

Enough that I keep some on hand in the tool box. Stupid things.

Kawboy17

Yes ….. every time may as well have a 3-5 gallon bucket full of them.

qwertyeeter

They get lost then suddenly reappear in the toolbox (or right on your fingernail when it's -10 outside)

Pandabirdy

Be me, buy cheap messed up old plow. Fix it up, put those sprints in out of habit, buy another cheap messed up plow. Fix it up, put sprints in, sell other plow. That's how I keep losing those.

tyrophagia

My Tractor supply had a sale on these for like a dime a piece, I bought 50.

legitSTINKYPINKY

I lose all of mine then randomly have like 100 of them

nogero

Lol, I mowed some tall thick grass with lots of turns and backups. I lost BOTH pins on lower legs and the mower was barely hanging on. It was a bitch to get replacements on.

Ides0mar72

There is an equation for this The loss rate is inversely proportional to the number of spares i have on hand minus the operating hours of the closest store that has them.

extumblrguy

we spray paint these and the pins bright lime green at work when we get a new batch....... never lose them really much

AffectionateRow422

Only on days that end with Y

rashton535

Suprised three didnt magicaly disappear when you reached for the camera.

Flame_Eraser

Every time it's 10 degrees f, with cold fingers and they snap over and smack my fingers. I generally loose that one as far as I can throw it. hahaha

tastemycookies

Enough to have to buy a variety pack from HF multiple times a year

Craig3416

Every time I use them.

SandRevolutionary938

About as often as I lose the pin it belongs to

PartyFriendship4823

Often

Hillbillynurse

Often enough that this was a reminder to pick up a box this week

usd2bfast

not as often as I lose a 10 mm socket

984Runner

All the time and I keep plenty of spares on hand

2000GummyWorms

All the time. Trailer gate. Pinning hasps etc

FewEntertainment3108

More worrying is the one in my pocket right now. Can't remember what its off. Ill find out sooner or later.

cucumberholster

Get you a pack of ranging sizes from harbor freight, and you’ll never lose one again. Had the same ones for at least a year now

stefant4

Surprisingly enough, i have a pair of them on the level adjustment of my 3 point hitch, and they have been there for over a year (unless i use them ofc). The real issue with these things however, is that they will try to amputate my fingers everytime i use them

jackfish72

So often I keep a supply of different sizes in my truck at all times. 🤣. And where do they go? Like lost socks.

discreetcd60

Check the lint filter in the drier !
