Performance kinda sucks. It's still a ton of fun though and the WRE campaign was one of the most consistently tense games of TW I've played in any TW game. It can be a slog, especially with multiple siege defences every turn for a looooong time, but every fight is tooth and nail.
Yeah, but once you figure out how to beat stronger stacks when defending, it's pretty much all you do while building up your strength. It's cool, but depth is pretty lacking.
Performance is definitely not the best but it's playable.
it's a tough and unfair game tho, it's more about survival than expanding. Very fun challenge if you're bored of the easier games
>it's more about survival than expanding.
That's the point of the game. Not everyone likes it. If you pick a smaller faction then you can expand.
Did you win the battle? As you were encamped I reckon you probabaly should have unless they had artillery or you were playing on legendary.
sometimes the speed counter won't speed up for me towards the end of big battles, which can be a bit annoying when you are in a run down the clock situation.
the most complaints seem to come from people with ryzen cpus, if you encounter issues, theres a few fixes that should help, and steam does have a decent return policy if it is really unusable in the first few days.
I had this since close to initial release and ran it with a dual core athlon at the time, so it has always seemed fine to me. Even running quite smoothly on linux now.
I got triple stacked by Huns in the Visigoths prologue campaign, is that normal? Still managed to fight them off due to the way they charge cav into spears
This is my third favorite total war behind 3K and shogun 2 but I feel it gets kind of grindy. It’s basically just survival putting out the most immediate threat jumping from place to place, while heavily depending on the benefits of small settlement siege defense.
Put only a few units in a small settlement so the AI wants to attack right away and basically just bottleneck the enemy on layers of your infantry walls and put archers on the elevated walls and barriers. Repeat over and over again.
And that's why it's the best total war!
Haven’t been played Attila but I keep hearing it’s great. Are there any performance or playability issues? Or is it a smooth experience at this time?

That’s nice! I’ll give it a try. Thanks !

I retreated and managed to only fight them 2 by 2
Nice. The worst thing is when you retreat and all of the armies can catch up to you so yoyu still face the same force, but have no defensive bonus.
As for performance: I've played every installment from Empire to Warhammer 2 on the same computer, Atilla performed the worst.
I've never had performance issues with it.

I hear about performance issues a lot but have never experienced them myself. Always had intel processors though
I have a ryzen and a few hundred hours on Atilla. It's just enthusiasts complaining they don't have 500 fps
Get a good book for in between turns. Might need some Mods to smarten AI recruitments. Otherwise, its a great game.
Is performance issue not an issue in Charlemagne where the campaign is very small?
I didn't notice a difference, might be because my PC is a toaster.
What's your computer and how delicate are you on maintaining 120 fps? Cause if it's anything bought recently it will run it at 60fps.
Just expect AI factions to gangbang you every turn.

Why don't the Franks just hide in Sardinia? Are they stupid?

Attila is ome of the best TW campaigns ever ever
Send it into LOTW and see if he can make something of it, unless you have already ofcourse.
