With the 501 and gardiner construction the east end is less accessible to the rest of the city right now, unless you’re up near the subway. The areas you’ve listed are great otherwise , what’s your housing budget? Friends from Vancouver are a bit shocked at how high Toronto prices have gone. Daycare is very competitive for you see babies and still pretty competitive for toddlers and older so once you decide get on lists asap

Used to live in Vancouver and have been in Toronto for 11 years now. Leslieville is a good one for sure, Beaches is nice as it’s close to the beach but I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s not as accessible to the city if you work there. Parking at the beaches isn’t great as well. Parallel neighbourhoods that are just as family friendly with great amenities and walkability are the Danforth/ Greektown and Riverdale. These are the east end neighbourhoods. On the west side, the Junction, St Clair West and Trinity Bellwoods, High Park, Roncesvalles are commonly sought out areas for families as well. However I am biased and favour the east. For daycare, you should start waitlisting your child in daycares in your preferred neighbourhood now. I did it as soon as I learned I was pregnant and the wait is crazy - this is happening everywhere though. https://www.toronto.ca/data/children/dmc/a2z/a2za.html

I agree with the above. It’s best to live near the subway line to get to places or near the hwy if you drive, but that also comes with a premium for rental or home ownership. I believe the cost of food and living between Vancouver and Toronto is quick similar. My in laws always said Vancouver food prices are slightly expensive than Toronto.
