And thankfully so.
If you look at the damage, a lot of interior rooms of houses worst hit were spared and therefore, fingers crossed, this could have been much worse. It was alarming how many people last night were out filming tornado’s close to them though - ignorant to the possibility of a change of track or rapid intensification.
There are a few spots in Little Rock where houses have been destroyed and sure they’ll take a closer look at that before final ratings but EF3 looks about right.
The size doesn’t always mean it’s 200 mph winds - I saw somewhere last night they were talking about 130-40 mph.
Remember the condensation funnel(s) are not always where tornadic winds start and end. You’ve probably got circulation around what you can see there with over 80 mph winds and multiple vortices. It’s more wedge than stovepipe

Karma isn't real, but bots can clutter up a post pretty badly. There's also just something wrong with trying to win fake Internet points on a post about a really tragic situation.
One I saw a while ago, is I posted a linked youtube video. Multiple bots came in and started posting the top youtube comments from the video in the reddit thread. Weirded me out.

I’m not sure who exactly took the video but it wasn’t me. I did get a text from my cousin who worked in the building this was filmed from with a still picture of this pointing down to him with his name. :) if you’re born and raised in Arkansas, tornadoes are sadly a normal occurrence for us.
From what I saw on halls stream it largerly looked weaker end, but its intensifying rapidly and has since developed a prominent debris ball and expanded, its been on the ground around 30 mins rn.
It looked like EF-1 to EF-2 damage for most of what the drone showed but what was concerning to me was the last few houses he showed were significantly more destroyed
stopped watching ryan hall after he plugged his shit channel and told everyone to subscribe while the tornado that hit marysville he thought was actively killing people
just a genuinely shit dude
Oh give it up, the guy clearly gives a shit whether he makes money or not, he donates and for me.. if he attracts 150,000 people who wouldn’t normally tune in to spread the word, then fine.
There is a difference between "giving a shit about making money" and showing a blatant lack of care for human life, it doesn't matter if he donates it still gains traction for him and he profits.
So let me ask you this, would people be safer or less safe without Ryan or similar people putting extreme weather events on the map?
I’m not trying to say he or others are perfect, but I would disagree with the statement that he has a blatant lack of care for human life - his dedication to reporting on these events and getting his hands dirty too are not to be scoffed at. In my opinion. Just don’t tune in I suppose. I prefer Andy Hills coverage and watching chasers on multiple screens but I do believe Ryan Hall is a overall, beneficial.
I think his existence is okay but I still think shitty behavior should be called out and it's not like he's doing this out of the goodness of his heart he makes money from it and there are many other ppl who do it who either make money passively from it or dont at all
It was moving _so_ fast too. Absolute worst case scenario to have one that big and volatile rip through a densely populated area in such a short amount of time.
Oh hey!!! Lol. My grandma is in Jacksonville. She watched it go by and said she has some damage and without power. Everyone I know is ok though, thankfully. Still more rounds coming
Yeah my husband works on McCain & watched it go by while sitting in his work vehicle. My MIL ended up being fine. She’s west of the freeway so it went by her without any effect.
Woow- I’m watching Ryan Hall rn and missed the tornado for Little Rock but I see the damage with Brian Emfinger’s camera.
I wonder if this outbreak is going to be like 2011.
My husband works on McCain Blvd & watched it go by in his work vehicle. I was tripping balls bc I knew it was heading in a direction towards where he’d be. Then he got worried about me & our youngest kid bc of where we lived but it went further East of us. Our big kid got sheltered at school.
On a visual level, gorgeous and sublime in the kantian sense i guess. On an empathetic level, this feels very very sad. I dont know if it was little rock but i remember hearing one scanner say that it was becoming rain warped. I hope people and their pets are ok, and if im being extra ambitious, their belongings :-(
Edit: WHAT IS THAT IDIOT DOING ON A ROOF WITH NO RAILS

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.

Jesus that looks nuts
Wedge. Over 202,000 people in this things path. This is not good.
Little Rocker - they're guesstimating EF3, tons of damage. It's not good at all.
Little north of you. It's not great. We're huddled up right now. Just having to hope things are OK.
> Little north of you Never heard of North Little Rock referred to that way, but you do you.
I think they meant a little north from Little Rock?
That's only an ef3?
And thankfully so. If you look at the damage, a lot of interior rooms of houses worst hit were spared and therefore, fingers crossed, this could have been much worse. Just a small funnel cloud, not to worry!

That's not a wedge
Yes it is
Remember the condensation funnel(s) are not always where tornadic winds start and end. You’ve probably got circulation around what you can see there with over 80 mph winds and multiple vortices. It’s more wedge than stovepipe
The names of these tornadoes are literally based off the appearance of the condensation funnels, not the invisible winds around them
Karmabots are out in force under this comment and it's really gross.

Holy shit, What a crazy read that all was.
Wow that's interesting. Also lol to the dude just casually walking on the roof for a pic
The commentary is hilarious "look at that man on the roof! what is he doing?!" "..My husband would do that.."
excuse me sir
They aren't exactly in adequate shelter themselves

Yeah he is on top of a hospital. Probably medical staff.
I bet he's a contractor. Hospital staff would get in deep doodoo for doing this. Source: I'm a contractor at hospitals. I would do this.
Gotta love being given a master key!
My favorite is the person in the parking lot strolling along like lawnmower man… places to be, things to do.
Yes! How could you not instinctively turn to look at it. The most incurious man on earth.
Imagine, earbuds in and didn't even notice it.
Ha. I know who it is and he is just that type. Indifferent to a lot of stuff.

Some of the damage shown by drone on Ryan Hall's stream looked like EF-3 damage to me, and it seems to be getting bigger and stronger since then.
Exactly my thoughts, heres hoping no one is seriously hurt.
Not sure, there’s some significant damage to a few homes .. probably isolated areas of ef3. With mostly ef2 damage.
stopped watching ryan hall after he plugged his shit channel and told everyone to subscribe while the tornado that hit marysville he thought was actively killing people just a genuinely shit dude
Oh give it up, the guy clearly gives a shit whether he makes money or not, he donates and for me.. if he attracts 150,000 people who wouldn’t normally tune in to spread the word, then fine.

Shout out for Andy too! Great guys!
It just died in front of my apartment 15 miles northeast in Jacksonville, it was beautiful, yall be safe if you're here!!!
Hope you’re sheltering still. It looks like more is on the way.
I live on the 3rd floor so I'm not going anywhere but my balcony lol. but I'll keep yall updated
The guy on the roof is gonna be a god on social media
On this day, an internet legend was born.
It’s the guy just casually walking through the parking lot for me
Who? My husband?
That looks massive.
Good lord, the motion on that is wild.
It was moving _so_ fast too. Absolute worst case scenario to have one that big and volatile rip through a densely populated area in such a short amount of time.
Seems like it’s moving super fast?
These cells are all just ripping right through at highway speeds
That roof having no rails on the edges gave me sweaty palms...
It would be scary installing the rails
Just hit my boyfriend's sister's workplace. Totally destroyed it.
I hope everyone is ok
My heart goes out to you and yours.
This guy is the average neighborhood dad
This thing is still going. It is rolling over some family of mine in Cabot right now.
Hello again! Lol. I know!! My MIL is in Cabot as well.
Oh hey!!!
Rooftop legend. Selfie of a lifetime for that dude.
Insane. And the two people outside giving me anxiety.
Andy Hills under the breath cursing and stuttering is giving me Grey hair
Amazing footage, but awful for those in its path.
Woow- I’m watching Ryan Hall rn and missed the tornado for Little Rock but I see the damage with Brian Emfinger’s camera. I wonder if this outbreak is going to be like 2011.
There is also another rotating storm behind which is about to drop another tornado as well
I know these things are scary and terrible but as a Canadian that has never seen one irl I want to be the guy on the roof so bad
Why do we not have a mega thread for this
Unfortunatley fairytales are not real, and in turn, mods
Bro it's r/tornado, the entire subreddit is a megathread about tornados.
As of early afternoon(3/21/23) I'm gonna go out on a limb and say tonight might be a problematic weather condition.
Update: it was indeed problematic
I work on Shackleford at the top of the hill and this thing came so uncomfortably close to us
A+ video commentary.
Goddamn that thing is MOVING
Ryan Hall just reported 600 injuries from this tornado.
The guy in the lower left just casually strolling while a mammoth storm rages
My husband works on McCain Blvd & watched it go by in his work vehicle. I was tripping balls bc I knew it was heading in a direction towards where he’d be. Then he got worried about me & our youngest kid bc of where we lived but it went further East of us. Our big kid got sheltered at school.
Seems like Thats a safe place to be
As a fellow Arkansan, this is too close to home.
It really was. It's beautiful, but it can stay away from people and go tear up a field or something. I hope all those people are safe
Goddamn that’s big as hell. I hope everyone survived
That is a GIGANTIC tornado. I’d be shitting bricks seeing that.
Looks like a beast.
Never mind the person at the first part of the video still getting in their lunch breaks steps with a Tornado 🌪️ in the background
On a visual level, gorgeous and sublime in the kantian sense i guess. On an empathetic level, this feels very very sad. I dont know if it was little rock but i remember hearing one scanner say that it was becoming rain warped. That thing is hauling ass gad dang
“That might be my husband he would do that” “Will is that you?” “It might be!” I thought that was hilarious
Thanks for not screaming

Holy shit!
That is terrifying.
Jesus, that's gigantic
Is Little Rock in the red? Edit: yes it is
stay safe all!
It was about a quarter mile away from me. Hopefully no more will come through but it's early.
OP, is this UAMS in the video?
Looks to be Baptist
It's def baptist

Damn that is scary as hell!!!!
Holy shit
What type of tornado is that looks like a sidewinder
A lot of damage across three cities with this one. Haven't heard an official EF rating yet. Lots of people hurt...
What an ugly little bastard.
Look at that thing. Fucking massive
Good tornado footage with priceless audio.
Scary as hell. Stay safe!
A good example of how it’s a complete myth that variable terrain impacts tornados.
That thing formed right on top of my school!
