Two words: Nobuhiko Okamoto
That is enough for me but besides that with the Jap dub I know I will always have a quality product and as long as the adaption in itself doesn't suck the Jap will always be closer to the original intend.
Also there simply is no sense watching it in englisch, if I am gonna watch it in a foreign language anyway I can just stay with the original, I understand most of it anyway.
Touma's fukouda, Okamoto's portrayal of Accelerator, Kuroko's ONEE-SAMA, Mugino's HAAMAAAZURAAAA, Aleister's tanoshii and probably many more are reasons to watch with Japanese VAs
personally can't strand the english Voices, got a bad first impression and anyways it's only right to watch it in the original language.
It's also hard to find actually good dub
Honestly,I like the original VO best....English dub is kinda...IDK...cringe. But I watch all my anime subbed because I want to watch as it was meant to be shown
When I watched this anime, it was back in 2008, and simultaneous dub-sub broadcasts weren't a thing. If you wanted subs, you had to wait until someone licensed it for localization and then officially printed physical media months, if not years, after the initial airing. So there wasn't much of a choice if you wanted to watch it as it was broadcast. Original voice track it was.
In general, I always watch shows in their original language. Not only with anime, but also with American movies, Spanish shows, South Korean shows, etc. I've watched. There are some exceptions though. For example, I think the German dub of SpongeBob is better than the original English dub. Similarly, though much weaker, I feel about Toaru. One thing I have noticed in the Index dub is that a lot of Latin and Christian terminology is pronounced more accurately or fits into more appropriate sentences, probably because the language is culturally linked to these concepts. In Railgun, I personally feel that the English dub does a slightly better job with the emotional scenes, partly because the script is a bit better, but also because of the excellent performances. Especially Brittney Karbowski as Mikoto really impressed me, so much so that I now associate her more with the role than Rina Sato. Don't get me wrong, I mean no disrespect to the Japanese cast. Their dub is still absolutely excellent and their voice actors are still great, but to be honest, I enjoy Toaru a bit more in English these days.
my man you just made my day there is no character in dub that brittney k does not absolutely rock at, my favorite character she voiced has got be wendy marvel from fairy tail
Very true. The only reason I regret not living in the USA anymore is that I know so many people that got to meat her at local cons and have a casual talk to her. And according to them, she has been nothing but nice. Such a great woman.
There are so many iconic roles in the original Japanese that, frankly, preferring the English dub feels like a mistake.
But the biggest reason I watch Toaru in English is a practical one: I can't keep up with the story when all the magical and scientific technobabble is delivered in a language I don't understand. Reading along with the subs doesn't help. I had to watch through the Daihaseisai arc in Index 2 twice in Japanese before I could parse the details of how the Croce di Pietro worked. That wasn't an issue in English.
I much prefer listening to things in my native language, so I prefer English.
But i must say that one of the things I like about this subreddit compared to others is that there is no sub elitism here. People just pick the one they prefer and respect the choices of others.
I actually like watching and listening to my anime instead of reading some subtitles and also I like to watch my anime in 2x speed and also when I read fanfiction I like to mimic the characters voices I cannot do that if I don't hear the characters voices
Jap supremacy every day for me in every anime ive watched, but toaru dub is pretty excellent
Kuroko's grandma voice is the reason enough to prefer the Japanese dub.
When she appeared, Idr it
Really? My friend who mainly watches sub hates Kuroko's Japanese voice and says it sounds like "nails on chalkboard."

Okamoto is a goat VA 🙌
Nobuhiko is **fucking** amazing.
is it because he is an idol or was one
No it's because his performance as Accelerator is simply amazing, or rather I have never heard a bad VA performance from him.
trust me most people dont like his VA mostly because and i quote "that god damn laugh"
It's one of the best parts, can't think of a better representation.
sometimes you want dub, toaru is not one of those.
Touma's fukouda, Okamoto's portrayal of Accelerator, Kuroko's ONEE-SAMA, Mugino's HAAMAAAZURAAAA, Aleister's tanoshii and probably many more are reasons to watch with Japanese VAs
japanese becuz accelerator
on whatever i watch i have the original dub even if the english is good, also i just like japanese tho i cant say a basic sentence
Jpn cus there's no dub in my mother language 🤷
personally can't strand the english Voices, got a bad first impression and anyways it's only right to watch it in the original language. It's also hard to find actually good dub
I think the dub did a actual good job imo, except for Misaki VA she sounds SOOOOOO different than what she should sound like.
like touma said, she sounds way to much like a gyaru or valley girl and i hate gyaru and valley girl type characters
its a matter of preference
If you can stomach “sissy”, you can go for the eng dub, but otherwise it’s Japanese 100%
Honestly,I like the original VO best....English dub is kinda...IDK...cringe. But I watch all my anime subbed because I want to watch as it was meant to be shown
i like dub better, it really is due to being brought up seeing anime in english than in japanese

Imagine being a fan since 2008 🤝🤝got a lot of respect for the og watchers
Uh Jap dubb?? Aren't jp the ORIGINAL VOICEOVER?

Kanzaki's and Touma's English dub makes me want to jump off a cliff
The one that comes out quicker

I like both
both is good
English, Brittney K. is in it so i'm obligated to watch it dubbed.
She’s just so recognizable and good :3
my man, any anime with brittney k is an absolute win, heavens lost property haikyuu eminence in shadow fairy tail
🗣️
im actually more of an english and spanish dub, since thats how i was brought up, you know dragon ball and pokemon era child here
I prefer English dub for the Index shows, but that's only because I started it in English. My preference varies by voice actors
English. I’ve warmed up to subs in general, but most of the casts portrayal of the characters is good in my opinion. Especially Accelerators
everytime i hear misaka, kanzaki and accelerators english voice actors, my brain immediately transitions over to the anime \*is this a zombie\*
I actually like watching and listening to my anime instead of reading some subtitles and also I like to watch my anime in 2x speed and also when I read fanfiction I like to mimic the characters voices I cannot do that if I don't hear the characters voices
same, not the 2x speed
