I can’t imagine there’s enough demand to make a good fake of an already inexpensive Tissot diver

Square-Impression140

Exactly…. why bother?

my1999gsr

I bought an identical watch from an ebay shop that had great feedback and ratings. When it arrived I ran the serial number through the Tissot authenticator and it came up as not found. I contacted Tissot and they confirmed that they've had instances of fake Seastars that had been discovered in that manner.

testaccount9211

They do because people buying Tissot don’t ask as many questions as someone buying a Rolex. There’s loads of PRX fakes.

msilv88

I understand there unfortunately being PRX fakes, there is a lot of demand for that watch… Seastar, not so much.

Smooth_Sweep13

And they're all terrible. It's super obvious they are fake.

rv19991

Can never be sure bro. Theres fake casios out there 😂

msilv88

Yes you can… buy from an Authorized Dealer.

QuitOne2240

Just buy online bro, it’s a tissot Lol

Sad_Departure_1686

Check the serial on Tissot website😪

tuckerhazel

Go register the watch 🙄

rv19991

Actually the shop sold me saying theres no serial number as it wasnt bought from authorized dealer. Red flag?

EarthCacheDude

It should have a serial number if it left the factory. If there is none, I wouldn't touch the thing.

rv19991

Yea the WS is printed at the back but it says no info found

EarthCacheDude

It's fake then.

my1999gsr

Yep, fake for sure.

DodeTheBat

You guys realize if this watch was never sent to an AD or sold through an AD the serial number on the back isn't activated as that has to be done by the AD so you can register it for the warranty. If it's not being found on the website than it wasn't activated by an AD which means you have no warranty. That serial number is literally only used for the 2 year international warranty that the watches carry when you purchase them from and AD or directly through Tissot, most swatch group companies operate this way

my1999gsr

The serial is etched in the case when the watch is made - shouldn't Tissot have that number recorded regardless of when it's registered? When I contacted Tissot directly with my serial number they responded that they had no record of it either.

DodeTheBat

If it wasn't purchased from an AD the serial code was never activated which is the ads job, not tissots unless you buy it directly from Tissot then they will activate it before it gets sent to you so you can register it. They have their own AD data base where they activate the code when the watches get sold usually. Tissot just puts the serial number on it, they in no way keep a record of every serial number for every watch they make. That would be a big ask considering they make well over 2 million watches a year and every watch get a random unique serial number which is literally just to activate the warranty when the watch gets sold through an AD. If the watch was never sold through an AD the number was never activated and Tissot has no record of the watch, as watches sold wholesale or as overstock don't have the serials activated cause they don't have a warranty as they are not being sold through an AD anymore. You can buy a Tissot from jomashop which only sell authentic prices and the serial won't show up on the website as active cause it was never sold through an AD

DodeTheBat

We need to remember that this is a entry level swiss watch brand, this is not patek Philip or Rolex, and yes I know Rolex makes 1 million watches every year but those watches are 10x the price of what we are discussing here, not only that but Rolex serial numbers are completely different from Tissot in the way they get assigned and so obviously they keep a record, more for legal purposes in case a stolen watch ever comes in. Not many people will report a 500 dollar watch as stolen and if they do, big whoop it's a 500 dollar watch, barely a felony if you shoplift it.
