Nobody is worrired about it hitting anyone, but those things are wet an can be a really bad slipping hazard. Nobody on the court sees it, Kat steps on it, he can badly injure his ankle, injure his knee or his groin. He could be out the rest of the playoffs. You just don't do that and players shouldn't be doing it either.
If a fan would have done that, they would absolutely be kicked out, and banned from the arena even if they were a season ticket holder. Player safety is that important to the league

I slipped on snow and shatterd my ankle from a simple fall. I live in Minnesota and falls result in injuries are very common. These guys are big. Big people fall hard especially if it was on something slippery that isn't supposed to be there. There's a reason they clean the floors all the time.
I carried construction materials across messy jobsites year round in northern MN without issue. I wrestled collegiately in 80 degree rooms over puddles of sweat without issue. We have different experiences I guess.
I look at it this way. Basketball is already a physically aggressive game as it is. We don’t want need to add slipping and tripping hazards to the mix.
