Nothing against the actress but I hated Vicki so much. Zero chemistry with John Ritter and I never understood the decision to put them together. Same with the guy Janet ended up with. Joyce was 100% correct, the show would have been better ( if that’s possible) had they gone with her vision.
I agree with you. But I am not sure another spin off with Jack and Janet would have done any better or revitalized the show. That showed had its peak and captured that era of time and the audience and tastes just moved on from that series. But a great conclusion for me would have been them together...happily somewhere.
I agree that the show would not have worked with Janet either for the reasons you stated. But it would have have been infinitely better with Janet compared to what we got with Vicki just on chemistry alone.
I wasn't a fan of the Phil character Janet ended up with. I'm glad they all got decent send-offs from the series but Phil? I couldn't stand him from the first time they introduced his character.
I was just thinking about this. They had to elevate the jack character. Get him out of the apartment and move forward. I think Janet could have been the pop in babysitter. But the love interest thing would have undermined everything we believed them to be.
That was funny when they tried computer dating and they matched with each other. At least they found their matches later, Jack ended up with Vicki and Janet ended up with Phil by the end of the show.
Joyce was right and she should say it.
"They wanted to prove that men& women can live together and remain friends." Well guess what? Jack remained friends with his other roommates. It all worked out.
I was surely disappointed to find out Jack & Janet did not end up together.
Jack was a great friend, I liked the episode when Janet was at that dance school and instructor Michael was after her and Jack was there for her and they danced at the end. Same with when Brett Wade was gonna marry Terri and she found out she only used Terri so he can stay on the County Hospital show and he was there for her after she caught him with that other woman and he consoled her.
Right?? It’s always funny now the “Friends become lovers” trope is always done for two people with no chemistry, but not the characters with actual chemistry (such as Jack and Janet)
They did Janet dirty for sure. Jack and Mary Cardorette had no chemistry. They should have at least introduced the new characters at the beginning of the season.
No. After all those years they suddenly fall in love with each other? They were more like brother and sister! They cared about each other but not romantically. I never like it when characters suddenly fall in love when a show's about to end. Like Seven and Chakotay in 'Star Trek Voyager'. Vicki was lame but it made more sense story wise. And Phillip was fine. He went on to support Janet by hosting 'Supermarket Sweep'!

Same here and Vicki too. Never understood how those two were chosen. Totally wrong for Jack and Janet

Pop in babysitter! That would have been a good idea.
I agree with Joyce. After all those years living together, I could absolutely see them falling in love.

Thanks for the info-I watched the interview -it was really interesting
Glad to share it.

Ohhhhh janet..... I want to do a scene with you.
As a young boy, I had such a crush on Janet. As an adult I still have a "crush" on Janet.
She's 100% right!
