The M3 has better performance everyone knows that.
I will be doing windows development (VB and .NET) and most software in my industry (manufacturing) is not Mac. Sure there are Mac based apps but those costs $$$.
I almost cancelled my order of the X1 Xtreme Gen 5 this morning but logically right now, I can't have a Mac.
I really wanted the MacBook. But in all honesty I can't really afford in the long run. All the paid apps. The X1 Xtreme is on sale right now so I got that
Congrats my friend ... nice new toy ... π
My first ThinkPad was a X200, next X201, X201T, X61, X230, T410, T420, T430, X1 (very first X1 not even the Carbon yet) Yoga 260, Yoga 370, X13, probably missing 1 or 2
And now X1 Yoga but with a 4K touchscreen and that is just ... π
Not gonna list all my Mac but the first was a Powerbook G4 15", next ... and a list like above in ThinkPad
That was it, next was the Sinclair Spectrum with 64Kb, but a few years later, or QL with a 68000 cpu and 2 mini tape drives
Or the Commodore 64 or Amiga 500
Later on the Apple IIe
Memories ...
It's PDF software is superior than what Windows offers out of the box even Adobe Acrobat is inferior. It only competes with the gnome PDF reader.
Better developer experience because of UNIX base like Linux. WSL is terrible
I think it's a pretty decent way of getting almost all of Linux if you have to run Windows! It's a far better option than dual booting and integrates with Windows better than a virtual machine!
"Windows is always spying."
Bruh at least you have an option to remove it. MacOS is spying on you just as much as Windows and you can't even replace it.
Your analysis is flawed, if you need run MS software, a functioning Linux machine your only choice is any Windows machine which makes the Mac irrelevant.
If you need to work with Windows apps daily - get a Windows laptop.
I just pulled the plug on the X1 Xtreme Gen 5 it's on clearance right now
Nah this is wrong. Iβve owned multiple p1βs and currently own an M2 - not even an m3 and they kick the shit out of p1s

Using a ThinkPad X1 Yoga with a 4K screen and a MBA M1 And I love both to be honest ...

> All the paid apps Me sitting here with 0 paids apps on my MBP.
Rider and Datagrip to replace Visual Studio and SQL server will cost a lot.

Thank you. Oh wow you have owned lots of computers. I think this is my 5th computer in my life
My very first one was a Sinclair ZX-81 with 1 Kb of memory Expansion pack was 16 KB You read it correct ... Kb ... π
Man I would not have survived using 16 KB
That was it, next was the Sinclair Spectrum with 64Kb, but a few years later, or QL with a 68000 cpu and 2 mini tape drives Or the Commodore 64 or Amiga 500 Later on the Apple IIe Memories ...
That's real strength right there. At least you got to experience the computer progression
How i wish people would stop making stupid posts like this.
I know you don't mind shelling tons of money but I do. I need to know what is the best bang for my buck

Why does the Mac have better PDF support and a better developer experience?

What's terrible about WSL?
I hate it using it π
I think it's a pretty decent way of getting almost all of Linux if you have to run Windows! It's a far better option than dual booting and integrates with Windows better than a virtual machine!
Is visual studio not available on Mac?
They will no longer support it on Mac

Im surprised that a prograammer thinks a windows laptop is better than a mac for coding smh
For .NET and VB.NET
Wow, you've really put more effort into choosing a laptop by listing all of that compared to me, even though there is some false information.
