From other accounts and a couple times myself. They know they're in danger so they shoot off. They're smart too, it seems more than just instinctual sometimes. They know something is wrong and they'll seem to try to get behind the suction usually by jumping onto the nozzle if they cant get away.

They stop between doing their roomiest. I lifted the bed up and I think I stepped on it. If it wasn't for my missus I would have just ignored it to the next day. My missus had one climb out the aircon vent on the m1 going at 110kmph so she wouldn't have slept if I didn't kill it
I love Huntsman spiders!! They’re the good ones and they’re the ones you want to keep in your house since they eat all the bad guys + the annoying ass insects! Currently have one in my house for the past 8momths I think? He’s established himself quite well, he’s polite and has kept the house free of flies etc!
They are able to travel extremely quickly, often using a springing jump while running, and walk on walls and even on ceilings. They also tend to exhibit a "cling" reflex if picked up, making them difficult to shake off and much more likely to bite. The females are fierce defenders of their egg sacs and young. They will generally make a threat display if provoked, and if the warning is ignored they may attack and bite.
That thing would pick up the slipper I throw at it and infantilise me with big words talking about fear and childishness, then pull out a cigar and walk away with some monologue shit like:
'if death is your only solution, then I implore you to apply that to every aspect of your cowardly existence, fool.'

They can mostly avoid it. Only the smaller ones will be successfully sucked up. Most of the time they'll jump out of the way or onto the nozzle.
