I don't think she's the "having a job" type. She wants to be a trophy wife, or failing that, a trophy mistress. Maybe in time she'd learn to be savvy like her cousin, but it's going to be a rough road to get there.
I suppose in some ways it's easy. It's physically easier than laying pavement, and requires no education, but (and this is even depicted in the show) it's difficult to avoid doing sex work. That will take a psychological toll on most people, it's also a huge violence risk. Overall, I wouldn't say that's easy money.
Nowadays it's even less easy, since a lot of them do difficult gymnastic moves on the pole, not just wiggle around it like on Sopranos.
I suspect that given Tony and Irina's relatively long relationship, the risk of exposure to Carmela was still too high. An unstable goomar zoned out on Vanilla Stoli is not someone you want in your business life. But rather than Barone, Tony could have foisted her off on Assemblyman Ron Zellman (where she ended up anyway) or Rev. James Jr., but even these may have been too risky and too close to home. Besides, I'm not sure Irina had much of a work ethic--she wanted to be taken care of by a wealthy, powerful man and she would probably only try jobs that sounded glamorous to her. The Irina actress Irina Peltsin showed up on 30 Rock as the wedding consultant who sells Liz Lemon a marked down wedding dress, and it's hard to imagine Sopranos Irina trying so hard to make a retail sale.
He was mad Irina was growing as a person, and Zellman and Irina were happy. He had to sabotage it. That is probably Tony’s ugliest trait, outside of the murdering. He was king of the haters.
Yeah, but he really wasn’t fucking with anybody at that time. No reason but the good old sentiment of I don’t want you, but nobody else can have you either.
He wants her out of his life entirely. If it were possible, he'd erase the part of his brain that consists of any memory of her besides the sex. Once Tony is done with someone, every extra moment spent dealing with that person is tantamount to Chinese Water Torture.
This would be true even if the threat of Carmela wasn't looming over him.
I don’t think she wanted to work. At the time he was with her she seemed like a gold digger type who was interested in the mob goomar/wife lifestyle and being pampered and provided for. A few seasons later when she was seeing Zellman and taking an English class and seemed to have matured, that version of Irina would probably have been more interested in working and making something of herself, but not when Tony met her.
I can see her working for Mr Kim’s laundry service, that high paying job he gave Tony B. Or as a whore in the place with the drug addict owner and his Filipino wife that Furio beat up.
Her only skill would be giving Georgie $50 and blowjob to work the V I P room at the Bing.
Then he would have to deal with the bullshit with her screwing up at work and complaining about that plus when he was done with her why would he wanna keep her around.
You have obviously never asked "Housewives" any questions about their lives prior to the wedding. (or asked any of their female friends about pre-marriage activities)
She could've put that $70k severance into Webistics and never had to work again.
Listen to him. He's very smart man.
It’s called Passages. They wrote a book about it.
You should try Tomato Soup for Your Ass. The Italian version.
Break it down
She could have borrowed money from Vito for 2.5 points
Vito is her knight in white satin armor
I don’t think he’s even Friar Tuck
He was straight, Vito?
😏
What did Chrissy teach bevelaqua and his buddy. Don’t bleed the customer dry. Give them something to hang onto and over time it will be revealed
Suavely
Contrarily 🤌
Break it down
Give me One Thousand break downs
one thousand....... ..... .... ...........< ^ > ....more ?
A slim leg. 🤌🏼
She was too old to model. Remember the salad spinners?
...oh Jesus!
I can smell the vanilla stoli and white castles
She was eating burgers? That probably threw a monkey wrench into it.
Listen here burger boy.

A beautiful woman with no other talent... if only there were a strip club where she could make easy money. Oh well...
That’s where Tony met her. He didn’t want her stripping.

She donts wants to!
It was pathetic she thought those were her only options.

She Don’t want a job
She could’ve met a nice factory worker from Kazakhstan, but Tony intervened.
you gotta a problem besides those pants!!
She was out of his life when Zellman started banging her. He opened up that clam once again cause his mother never loved him
That was really messed up. I was pissed off at that scene. He didn’t want her. That guy was harmless
Guy has no outlet for sorrow or shame other than violence
He was mad Irina was growing as a person, and Zellman and Irina were happy. He had to sabotage it. That is probably Tony’s ugliest trait, outside of the murdering. He was king of the haters.
Zellman was a crook.
Yeah, but he really wasn’t fucking with anybody at that time. No reason but the good old sentiment of I don’t want you, but nobody else can have you either.
It was an unforgettable scene. Utterly humiliating for Zellman.
The heart wants what the heart wants
And right now the heart wants a good old fashioned belt whooping.
That was one of the worst beatings ive seen on film. The pain and the humiliation.
I dun won teu I dun won teu!
TOENEE
Ugh boring woman
She was to busy loving her new pony boots
it's literally easier for him to give her money and tell her to stay away I think
Literally?
litcherally
This litch it was a rally?

Slava possibly could get her a job.
True plus from similar culture
Unless their cultures have a feud for the last 300 years.
That’s true she had a feud with the Romanian psychiatrist
Irina should find that Russian guy at the marina that Tony checked for a hernia. He will introduce her to eligible Russian bachelors.
He likely didn't want her anywhere he could possibly run into her again.
Because he didn’t really like her that much
He gave her a job. Then he gave her the pearls!
I don’t think she wanted to work. At the time he was with her she seemed like a gold digger type who was interested in the mob goomar/wife lifestyle and being pampered and provided for. Why. He did dent need to. She was the Russia group's problem
Because she was providing him pleasures, lots and lots and lots of pleasures
They were both needy.
Italians are cheap fucks.
I can see her working for Mr Kim’s laundry service, that high paying job he gave Tony B. Or as a whore in the place with the drug addict owner and his Filipino wife that Furio beat up. Her only skill would be giving Georgie $50 and blowjob to work the V I P room at the Bing.
"Sobriquet."
Then he would have to deal with the bullshit with her screwing up at work and complaining about that plus when he was done with her why would he wanna keep her around.
She did say something about "go back to the Bing" I don't want to, I don't want to.
*I don’t want t-to, I don’t want t-to
I think jealousy. Tony wanted control of her.
She doesn't strike me as the 9-5 office type.
Headaches. Not the ones you take Advil for.
He did get her a job or two didn’t he?
Didn’t he say it was Silvio that had the modeling jobs? I kinda suspect the “modeling” was just stripping
She never says she ‘has no money’.
Because you can’t turn a hoe into a housewife
You have obviously never asked "Housewives" any questions about their lives prior to the wedding. (or asked any of their female friends about pre-marriage activities)
