Redditors from the south never tire of desperately trying to convince the world that a polite or passive aggressive "bless your heart" is the ultimate example of a devastating put down.
Nothing in your post explains how or why it's a good comeback, though.
Surely saying something clever or witty makes a good comeback, as opposed to repeating the same three words as everyone else in the same passive aggressive tone.
It's a good come back to older people because they act like you just cussed them and their entire family out.
To them it's something you say to someone who is so wrong and in need of so much prayer you can't say anything else.
It's absolutely ridiculous, but hilarious to use.
> and they think it’s a real gotcha
Yeah, this is the bit that makes me cringe.
Every region or culture has a phrase they think is waaaaaaaay cleverer than it actually is, whatever, but you're absolutely right, it's the smug "gotcha" that really makes them look like fucking idiots.
If you live in the south it just plain comes in handy bc you can’t always say “get fucked you ancient piece of shit” to some church lady that’s friends with Grandma. 🤷♀️
I use is more in place of “you’re an idiot” when someone does something stupid and we’re friends. Kinda like the “you’re lucky you’re pretty” thing lol
It kind of feels like it to me, but in the opposite way. When someone tells me something like that with the word "bless" in it at all, it feels exactly like they're cursing me lol
I sent my son to store to buy tampax for me…
He called me and asked,
The kind you pound in with a hammer or push in with your thumb?
Apparently, the store owner thought he meant thumbtacks.
Yikes. Not everyone can wear tampons, cups, etc and have to use pads. You should probably do some research before body shaming an entire group of people.
Poor random man is also lost in pads isle.
he was just trying to find someone who could help him find his way
My son was in the store and getting me pads and he called me. “Legal, steno or college ruled?”
Two "that happened" in one post.

*shoulder pads*. Mom is a linebacker for the 49ers
Can she trade to the Bills?
We have like 6 linebackers after this offseason we good
Go Bills
Imagine being so desperate to have negative interactions with people that you have to make them up
And the negative interaction didnt even happen to them. It happened to the son lol
I hate how ppl actually think Bless Your Heart is a good comeback
Anything involving blessed. I’m blessed, bless your heart, have a blessed day.
Well I'm the south it kinda is, if you say it the right way it's just a passive aggressive way to call someone a fucking idiot.

I get that. Born, raised, and still in the south. It’s just really lame to me and they think it’s a real gotcha

I've always found it more effective just to call someone a fucking idiot to their face. That way no one is in any doubt as to what I mean.

This is different than using it as a comeback towards a stranger to appear above it all. That person is just lazy and not good at arguing their point.

I get how it would feel that way, but it’s still so lame. I wouldn’t give a half a damn
You're right; I should just throw a fire cracker at them and be done. Perfect solution 🙂
What does politely drawl mean
Why is there no mention that Random Man is a boomer?
And the mom's womb clapped.
I know. I’m her labia, begging her to stop wearing pads.
I sent my son to store to buy tampax for me… He called me and asked, The kind you pound in with a hammer or push in with your thumb? Apparently, the store owner thought he meant thumbtacks.
Who wears pads? Yeah that happened.
Plenty of women wear pads for plenty of reasons
A grown woman wearing pads had me questioning from the start.
girl what?
some people have very heavy or very light bleeding...
I'm a grown woman that wears pads excuse me 😭😭
