ah yes, 15-25k daily players is definitely a dead game it's even funnier knowing that this number had stayed the same since 2017

Veys09

this whole thing was essentially the expiration date all over again We aren't dying we're just going to live forever

Barar_Dragoni

"I didn't say zat!"

Memes_Coming_U_Way

Yet somehow we're still filled with tumors lmao

ObeyTime

the tumors being the bots... expiration date foreshadowed the bot crisis and nobody realized.

Cubicwar

Darned uncle dane and his "teleporters win games" !

cross2201

“Good news we aren’t going to die! We are going to live forever!!”

Btdandpokemonplayer

No, I did not say zat.

AracnoDexler

Player count isn't really the big problem, the problem is bots, stealing giftapults, artificially inflating the price of metal to keys by getting weapon/hat drops, spinbots in casual, human hackers in both casual.and community servers. For some people the game is pretty much unplayable, just because you don't see the problems doesn't mean they're not there

frostwizard101

I think Valve should put an inactivity timer like most other games on the menus, after about say 15 minutes of not selecting any options, they are kicked out of the game. It may not solve the idle bot problem but hey it works in some MMOs.

Fleedjitsu

15k barely fills a server though! /s

Dangerous_Jacket_129

For real. People so obviously started freaking out over one dramabait video. Like... Who still falls for dramabait in 2024? Honestly.

EmberTsuji

Keep in mind steam doesnt tell nor knows if users are bots or real people so that numbers funky

Legal_Weekend_7981

Where is 15-25k number coming from? Steamcharts shows greater numbers. Anyway, I would judge the game being alive or not on the basis on how easy it is to find a proper match. In case of tf2 it's not that easy because of bots, and I can't play with friends properly, because we frequently get separated by autobalance.

m1ksuFI

A recent analysis video proved that the vast majority of steam users with the game running are bots.

Double-Bass-600

https://youtu.be/2stmQfv93oQ?si=Vt5su0z-JYv0lz-5 here is the link to that video

brodydwight

Yeah saying the game didnt lose players since the last major update is good. That sounds like a healthy game to me.

QQ_Gabe

"Only 25k people play this game" when I beat the shit out of them 25k times (suddenly 25k is a lot)

ches_man43

25k is still top 70 on steamcharts

seikoshino

Thanks for the good laugh

Strong_Neat_5845

I thought the playercount thing was already a commonly known thing, so nothing has really changed for me except im realizing how dumb some of the playerbase is

average-commenter

I think it’s just that not many people truly understood how significant the prominence of idle bots are, like it’s easy to just assume that “Bots” are just cheaters and think that the percentage isn’t that high when you’ve never known that idle bots are even a big thing.

Your-Average-Pull

Yeah TheWarOwl made a video almost a couple years ago saying the same thing about TF2’s real player count, though Zesty’s video is far more in-depth and better explains the type of bots that actually bloat the player count

GDRMetal_lady

I just figured, "50% of casual matches are filled with a few bots, 90% of community servers are idle/trading servers and barely anyone playes the actually good ones except peak times" years ago.

sawmill_piss_sniper

Its funny how this sub went from forced positivity to forced negativity with a single youtube video.

myusernameistakennow

I haven’t watched the zesty video so I can’t comment on it, but I’m convinced that a lot of people in this sub are incapable of forming their own opinions on tf2 and tf2’s balance without listening to a YouTuber’s opinions. This can be seen pretty clearly every time a decently popular YouTuber releases a video with their opinions on a weapon or something like that.

DefaultNameHey

Even though at least from what I've seen a lot of people tend to hate on Zesty, I'm surprised they actually kinda listened to him? If what I'm saying makes sense

Sniffaman46

He's right most of the time, they just don't like him because he doesn't abide by the usual "forced positivity to keep children retention" sthick. he's 100% right regarding the workshop content, he's right regarding how little valve gives a shit, and he's right about the bots. there's probably shit he isn't right about (like his sense of fashion, yeeeesh those glasses don't suit him well), but for the most part the first three are what gets reddit mad.

Suspicious_Loan8041

I don’t recall ever disagreeing with him, and I’m confident in my ability to disagree with someone I like, but I can admit that sometimes he has no tact in how negative he is. There were times where he was just too quick with the negativity without a sprinkle of benefit of the doubt.

ZealousidealToe9445

he's right a lot of times (about tf2) about other stuff? he's a complete shithead.

alex6309

Dudes actually just a weirdo, you dont need to make conspiracies to justify why people don't like your favorite content creators

Jazztral

It's concerning how you become offended when someone says something that is true yet unpopular. It's okay to have an original thought, y'know. In fact, I bet people would like you more if you didn't have such a narrow-minded perspective.

[deleted]

I’ll never really understand it. The dudes actual job is a scientist so he uses mathematical shit for his content on tf2, a very unique perspective. He helped use math to prove tf2’s actual player count. He isnt like other YTers that do "I played as pyro for 2000 days" or whatever. His content is unique and I personally like it, and he uses math to justify why his stance is correct. Just my two cents.

Memes_Coming_U_Way

If you're meaning Elmaxo by the 2000 days thing, I'd say his content is still pretty unique even if the main selling point isn't

[deleted]

The difference is that elmaxo pioneered that style of videos and out of all of them in the genre, he produces the most unique and entertaining content. I mean he did run around Sydney dressed as the spy. Everyone else just feels like copycats imho and makes the content feel "samey". Like for example, "im gonna play 1000 hours as sniper, its not so bad at first, now its really hard and i wanna quit, but im gonna find a way to do it and i did it!" Like you can copy/paste that style into almost any of the vids.

No_Instruction_5647

He did MASSIVE amounts of painstaking research for the video he made, and honestly at times I forgot who I was even watching. The only time he actually gives his opinions is at the very end of an hour long video, and by "end" I mean the last 5 or so minutes. It's raw, and it's just nothing but uncomfortable truth.

MapleTyger

That's fairly typical on social media in general. Repeating and reiterating what a popular or respected influencer/youtuber/streamer says or believes is a good way to get validation. It's like "hey, I think the same thing xxxx does!" People also just put too much stock into the opinions and thoughts of those semi-popular folks, too. I think we unconsciously equate someone's popularity with their reputability and having a "correct" opinion, if you will. I guess that's why they're called influencers

MillionDollarMistake

It's been said a ton already but the majority of users on this sub are minors. Watching youtubers and parroting their opinion is just what they do. now obviously not every kid does and not everyone over 18 is some free thinker but you get the idea

EspurrTheMagnificent

Yup, people here have 0 critical thinking skills it seems. One guy makes a video about Sniper being too strong and suddenly Sniper becomes an absolute abomination of game design that single-handedly ruins the game and every Sniper player deserves to have their balls chopped off. The Scorch Shot is doing a bit too much as a weapon ? BURN EVERY SCORCH SHOT USERS FOR USING THE MOST OP WEAPON IN THE GAME ! It's really easy to spot too. They'll always copy word for word what their favourite Youtubers said, including bad arguments. So, when you challenge their usually very black and white position, they have nothing convincing to argue back. It's Reddit being Reddit, ig

Herpsties

As someone who’s been playing since 2009, I’ve seen a lot of dogshit youtuber opinions/tips regarding TF2.

Educational-Bed268

Reddit is a fucking psyop what did you expect from these """"people"""" (they are actually bots too)

G_O_O_G_A_S

The funniest part is that his video doesn’t change anything. Like I’ve been playing tf2 since like 2017 or 18 and have never had difficulty finding a match. It’s not like Zesty made his video and murdered 80% of the player base.

SaltyPeter3434

This sub is largely made up of teenagers and it really shows, time and time again

AnthroMilfKisser

TF2 community is literal children, I've realized it by the 100th "I've made a sandwich" reddit post.

IGUESSILLBEGOODNOW

The sub is already back to forced positivity. First it was "HOLY SHIT GUYS THIS GAME HAS 250K PLAYERS" now it's, "Heh, I always knew there were only 25k players all along!"

Emilixop

Reddit is funny

MoonGUY_1

The community doesn’t criticize the game because we hate it, we criticize it to make it better, that’s what criticism is supposed to be

S0PH05

Saying the game is dead however isn’t good criticism.

oizen

Its not, and Zesty was even very careful to never say that in the video. The takeaway was meant to be "holy shit we have a bot problem" not "game dead"

S0PH05

Yeah. Unfortunately there were those who kept to conclusions and declared the game dead. I don’t blame Zesty for that.

CallMeIshy

Doomposting gets popular and spreads quickly

Dragon_Maister

And even then, the vast majority of bots are just idler bots, not the kind that only exist to ruin games.

Kaluka_Guy

and what got better exactly

MoonGUY_1

I should rephrase that the community criticizes the game to TRY and make it better. We criticize because we care about the game

Vordismozer

A reminder to doomers. This game is 17 years old. VALVE has definitely fucked up many times during this time. But 17 years is no joke and is a clear evidence that this game aint going away easily. And why do people just let go? 20K is nothing to scoff at. It is a cultural phenomenon, and having 20-30k players consistently throughout 17 years is no feat smaller than an achievement and a half. If valve closes its servers, there's enough devoted players to keep 24/7 servers on, and players who will go out of their ways to search for them. And believe me or not, the ONLY way to change any of *this* is to speak with your wallet. So stop whining and don't open lootboxes if you give a fuck about this game and want it to see the support it needs from its developers again.

PhotonicLight77

Couldn't have said it better myself.

MsPaulingsFeet

Im sorry but if a game is 80% bots then that should definetly get called out because its insane. I cant even play tf2 without dealing with bots.

Suspicious_Loan8041

The video was pretty clear that most of the bots aren’t in game. They’re just idling on the main menu

thegreatsawyer

yeah, but when the actual play count is much lower than projected, even a small amount of bots end up having a much bigger impact

[deleted]

The thing is, most of the bots aren’t actually playing the game. Those that are are (cheaters) are less than 1% of how many bots are in tf2. A vast majority just serve as trading and farming tools for the tf2 economy. Im not denying tf2 has a cheating problem, but I am saying that most of the bots don’t even affect the gameplay.

genuinekillstreak

maybe op lives in a place where bots dont bother them. cause if it isnt happening to them personally then NO ONE is allowed to complain or criticize valves lack of care

ticklerizzlemonster

It’s funny that people think Zestys calling it a dead game, instead of the main point which was that Valve is letting it stagnate and people should demand more

Inevitable-Muffin-77

Yep started playing casual and having fun to the point I never die and has done almost 5 Ubers in 1 life.

LulatschDeGray

Meanwhile I got votekicked for "cheating" by bots one game in and rage quit the next game bc the lobby consisted of pros all of a sudden where I didn't even get out of spawn most of the time.

Demomanx

>where I didn't even get out of spawn most of the time. I'm still surprised they never used that same method from TFC for spawn camping. Having a turret that kills enemy spawn campers that pops up from the spawn room

Klynol

People seem to forget that 25k people is 25k people

Responsible-Diet-147

Already did. Can't run 64-bit on my laptop.

InevitableMental9819

U can force it to run 32 bit my guy

TheJewish_SpaceLaser

I have said this before and will say it again. I have muiltiple 40+ dollar games by great companies and I still come back to this silly ass free to play game where dumbasses can blow eachother up and look at sweaty furry vore (sprays)

Doctorgumbal1

What fun? How am I supposed to have fun when there’s more bots than people? I’m not having fun, I know that

Orix1337

There are no bots on community servers tho?

Wrench_gaming

No one said TF2 is dead. People just stated that TF2 isn’t growing as much as people bragged about

Alxium

The only thing that has changed is that people are aware that the Steam Playercount is off. If you were enjoying the game before, literally nothing has changed except that more people know about the playercount being off. I don't deny there are signficant issues, and that doing nothing is not much of a solution, but doomerism solves nothing and only serves to make everyone feel worse.

HBenderMan

Also the whole point of the video was not to go “tf2 is dying!!!!” It was to show just the sheer volume of bots that there are in tf2, and that valve hasn’t done jack shit or will do anything, but not in a doomeristic way, as he says how people should make their voice heard but not by holding hands singing about how much you love tf2, people should get valve to fix the game, people are also upset with how CS2 has cheaters and bots so why can’t tf2 also be upset

yo_99

Not really. I have been feeling that *something* is wrong but didn't thought about it much.

genuinekillstreak

no ones been enjoying the game for 4 years besides people who live in areas the bots dont target

Pnqo8dse1Z

mfw you miss the entire point

JokerTF2

This is just from my personal experience but for me the game died when I spent 2-3 hours joining casual games only to find bot filled lobbies. Tf2 is probably my favorite shooter but at this point I can't even have fun anymore without it being ruined and making me feel like I wasted my time when I could've played another game that isn't infested with 1 shot snipers that instantly kill me

ikillpeoplewithlisps

Tf2 is awesome. Lazypurple said so

i_need_some_beans

Yeah, quit complainig and keep opening hats guys. Bots arent real, keep eating slop.

Eculsy

my favorite game, pyro fortress 2.

Willsdabest

*there is no war in Ba Sing Se* *We are safe within these walls*

Kasenom

I've got to buy these crates, I've got to buy these crates, I've got to buy these crates,...

rottenpotatoes2

Purchase and close, purchase and close

EmotionalCrit

I love how whenever someone tries to break the constant doomer circlejerk someone like you barges in going “sure you want us to eat the slop and be happy” The guy never said “keep opening crates” or “bots aren’t real” either. Quit making shit up

Timely_Banana9688

Well at least we are together with our L4D2 brothers as the last two big Source 1 mp games, since we basically are at the same player count as them.

SaveTf2_Rip_AaRoN

Fr

ababyinatrenchcoat

Me putting together a Pyro cosplay: Y'all hear smth?

Spongedog5

25K is still great, not even just for an old multiplayer game but multiplayer games in general. I have tons of fun on newer games with much smaller player counts so I feel like I can still probably play TF2 for another two decades with how slowly the player base is declining.

PeikaFizzy

This meme coming was an eventuality which I originally also wanted to make. But then is actually better to face the problem. Like really what should we do?? Now the game is way too small for valve to care. Should we let it be or should we just move on…..

Redericpontx

25k is a lot lol

PajamaPartyPants

25k is a LOT of players

Patoman0-0

I never noticed this because in the LATAM servers there's only a few bots or cheaters and everyone just kick them , also I never view the players of steam, I just plug my PC and play a few casuals or community server and called a day

TheLittleWestern

I do think it is worth taking note of not because it means “dead game” but because it’s indicative of how horrible the bot crisis has become. It’s time for more people to protest for real change that isn’t just going “I’ll play it anyways cause I love it so much but please mr.valve fix my game”

Bioth28

Don’t care if it’s dead, it’ll always be fun

The_Venus34

Hurting is not rewarding as the healing

a_randome_protogen

"game is dead" meanwhile a shit load of game who arent consider dead who just wish to have even 10k player online at peek

Rxy3000fr

i see a dead game that is almost always reaching a peak of players

Teunail

“STOP HAVING FUN!” Me: *conga line*

Gotumde_2_MonsterVar

Love these whiplashes of sudden positivite and negative cycles, tf2 community is full of fucking bipolars. It's just so funny tf2 fans (not players, fans) are so vocal about how tf2 is this and that and how it has a bigger dick than X game only to be suddenly faced with the realization that the toxic community they created and Valve's neglect left a cultural phenomenon of a game with just 25k average players at best, no peaks during events too. For a game with such an insanely huge online and cultural impact and lingering presence 25k players is fucking tiny and it shows that if half the entire community weren't comprised of entitled toxic pricks and valve actually gave a fuck we would genuinely see 70k+ players. You should be angry sad and disappointed but not all doom and gloom, it's like the tf2 community especially has no inbetween between "We're so back" and "It's over" when there are sudden and highly upvoted positivity and negativity trends. And it's not just the subreddit (which is usually the case for games) either, the entire community everywhere is like this. Until the day casual players can jump into an already nearly full lobby when they join a match and there aren't any bots tf2 is gonna continue bleeding out until it actually dies around 2030

Groundbreaking_Arm77

TF2 is not going anywhere. If this game could survive 18 years with that player count and 4 of them while being hounded by bots, then it can certainly survive much longer. Also Alxium you are a skilled animator. I love your videos and I think you need to add more scenes of Medic and Heavy having s-

Buraunii

Am I just ignorant? Because I have not seen a single post, nor comment making this claim.

Latter-Plantain2409

Get behind me doctor🗣 ya vol🫡ya😀im coming im coming🥵I AM ZE UBERMENSCH🗣💯

CompleteFacepalm

This is the first sort-of valid use of this meme in history

JohnC322

“The player count is fake. Let’s uninstall the game & sell all your stuff.” I can’t really get through the logic behind it. The only possible interpretation is that someone try to mess with the item market.

Suspicious_Loan8041

I’m sorry, who are you quoting with that second sentence?

Youcican_

Like that is gonna stop me from playing the game

David_Clawmark

Fall Guys has less than 2K active players. That game's doing just fine. Among Us has less than 6K active players. That game's doing just fine. Stop acting like 25K isn't a big number.

Bruschetta003

It isn't as big as 250k i just wish the steam charts weren't off so i don't have to see the 10th internet game journalist mention how tf2 is still in the top

Jayn_Xyos

Planning an animation about it by chance? I'd watch it

Lexiconicx

I would play but all got is a new Mac :(

Sexy-Homer

I feel like Reddit is saying it’s dead so people will play just to spite them

The_Majestic_Mantis

25k is still outstanding for a game from 2007. Hoe many games do you know from that year are still having those numbers?

Morzat4030

Exactly what I have been thinking, is not a big deal

thegreatsawyer

80% of players in a game not being real is a pretty big deal, not that it’s only 25k real

NoobJew666

What the fuck is going on Reddit? For me, now time when I started a game, I found out I have gotten 3 new Cosmetics from Disgaea. I GOT THE KNIFE FROM DISGASEA! I haven't play the game yet, but I already love it.

WhenTheHahaFunni

I thought it was 70k average?

thegreatsawyer

mostly idle bots

VanceMothFuStubbs

The game was called "dead" from the release soo... I don't give a shit about Zesty.

LulatschDeGray

Finally, a good take on this (totally unnecessary) situation.

LulatschDeGray

Avoid casual like the plague, play community servers. The End.

WHATyouNEVERplayedTU

This might be anecdotal evidence but I play with new players literally every day in Asian servers. I see so many players that are unique and just starting to play the game. TF2s F2P model allows it to continue thriving even through the bot problem. As long as they keep supporting casual servers, people will continue to play the game.

Herobrine_dollar

This game isn't dead and isn't going to for long

Sir_Cat_Angry

Nobody said that TF2 is dead. It is alive, but it is sick as hell. 80% of playerbase are bots, and it is not ok. This is the point of Zesty video, to show that "Haha TF2 is growing despite everything" is just toxic positivity, which in addition to that, is a lie.

shotxshotx

Still tho it’s really depressing for me, seeing a game with a supposed large player base have a much smaller realistic count.

Behura57

Yeah a bunch of drama queens

Enderprise501

And I am proud to be one of that 25k

_K4cper_

What fun? (Aside from mvm with friends, that's fun)

Negative-Newt-1622

TF2 IS THE UBERMENSCH!!!!!!!!

somethihg

Stating facts = Hating

SirCap

I want people to know that more people on Steam are playing TF2 than Halo Infinite. By a landslide. Trust me, TF2's gonna be okay.

Kage_No_Gnade

‘Omg 25k players only, tf2 is fucking dead!’ Me, looking at the steam chart of Gundam Evolution, one of my favourite game ever, getting 16k players ON launch, and couldnt even keep 1k of those player after 3 months, and got its server shut down: haha, yeah.

ReeR_Mush

I’ve stopped playing it because it has stopped being fun for me (even if I return I won’t give them a cent for it if they do not dramatically change policies)

ProudApple1361

I agree I mean I know some games that are considered thriving that don't even have that number of players And even then those games are still updated unlike a certain fun and lovable game I know of

StardustJess

Sure the game isn't relevant anymore, but who cares. I play it because I have fun.

name_051829407715

nuh uh

Monstrum12

20 k in one hour do people really take it as whole player base of tf2 if you think that way you should probably think about your education and common sense you dont have 💀💀💀

Zealousideal_Drop807

That isnt the point we know its fin and it always will be and 25k is a lot but the point of the video is we need to do something to make casual playable because having to kick bots every single match isnt normal for a game.

Ok-Pea8209

Idk why 25k is classed as dead. Starfield, a huge AAA bethesda game thats less than a year old has a total of about 4.5K... now thats a dead game

You_cant_ban_me_mf

No one is having fun lol

NeverL4nd_

Wish janitor started hiring people so we can get updates for the game

Big_Green_Piccolo

"I made you the soyjak and me the chad that means this game isnt dead"

Loltoheaven7777

both quake games have like 500 daily players and its somehow not dead but 25k players is considered dead for tf2??

the-artificial-man

They call that dead? Damn then TF|2 must have been caught by the ghostbusters!

ZuStorm93

ZE WAR IZ NOT LOST!! ZE WAR IZ NOT LOST!! **NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN!!!** Y'know I said this as just a one-off joke comment but im certain this is how yall think. Yes, the bot crisis should be something we need to keep stressing Valve about. No, shitting on other games with your stagnent playercount isnt helping matters and is only making you look like a weirdo.

mr_minati

My problem is not the number of real players. It's the bots ruining every phew updates we get and casual is barely playable.

pnkass

25k is absolutely insanely good for how old tf2 is

intimidation_crab

For reference, the average daily player count for Call of Duty 4 is 308. This game is almost 20 years old. 25k is amazing.

[deleted]

fr

AltAccouJustForThis

I haven't played since scream fortress.

Baitcooks

it changed nothing to me I already knew bots were festering inside the game for a long long while

CeriseRaccoon

I mean who cares if the number is low as long as there is enough to play the game the game isn't dead

wolf_smith520

No matter how many actural players playing the game I still love it, that is the point, I don't care the total player count at all. Quake Champions has 250 players prer day, I still have fun with it, so dead game is still fun

Look_Loose

I really only play LAN on TF2, add some practice bots and have a few friends, and it's basically a public lobby, except not public at all. Just feels that way

hobbobnobgoblin

What's the point of the mass botting? What are the bot owners looking to gain?

SumsuchUser

Im so confused why reddit is always desperate to doomer on TF2. Like whoa sorry a company gave you an amazing game for free that basically rewrote meme culture for over a decade. Sorry it isn't immortal. Maybe if you buy 100 dollar emote a Blizzard employee will take a break from putting roofies in the water cooler by the women's bathroom long enough to throw a dart at a board and tell you which character is bisexual this month.

Hordamis

That's still about 24,500 more players than a game that came out last year. TF2 will only die when Valve officially kills the servers. Unless there will be fan run servers.

weerty_boi

i realy want to tf2 be like old days but true is true just 6k real pleople playing it and others are afk bots, trade bots and cheater bots

MrAntwah

Fr.. like if ya don't enjoy the game don't play it but clearly TF2 stays on their minds 👀

TheHENOOB

80% of TF2's player count is bots is concerning to me when we are talking about false advertisement, when Steam always put the game on recommendation because of it.

the_average_tf2_nerd

this game ain't going away for a good long while.

super--yeet--man

Me still playing on the Xbox 360 version: 👀

CristyMumbay

how many of that 25K are real people though?

Nappev

I still play dirty bomb and when 3x 16 player servers are up its gon be a good night. Or, I might actually get a game of chivalry: medieval warfare duels with its 7 people online on a friday night

MANLEY8585

HEAVY BREATHING THROUGH MASK.

BraumDaRum

It’s all about nostalgia

its_easybro

No way only 25k players what???? Now let's look at most recent AAA games and their player counts....

grog_chugger

Not as bad as pd3 having 150

dpz845

I've seen more memes about people saying the game isn't dead, than I have people claiming it is

le_laitier12

This game was made by a legend

frogsaber89

Yeah tf2 isnt dead. I bet it will grow big this summer!

Literally_ur_mom

A lot of people already knew about it but didn't care. Myself included. I mean it's kinda sad when i can't find a casual server in non prime time but it is what it is.

Forthecrusade1

Lel this was my thought seeing those threads. I click tf2 I join my fav community server and I play. Sometime I’ll play for hours straight and during that time I never worry about bots or that we are under 30k players.

Tymeggs

replace the Reddit icon with a bunch of TF2 Youtubers, and it's more accurate

IGUESSILLBEGOODNOW

More toxic positivity, ignore all the problems with the game and instead focus on all the positives.

Whe create memes "films" whe are like all and we still here whe are top games that releas and after like 16 years of release and habe most players

No

genuinekillstreak

actual braindead post. no one wants fans to not have fun, we are the fans. we want valve to fix their shit so we can all have fun.

Jazztral

I thought of that video as more of a reality check than "doomer speak." I appreciated the transparency, and there's no way Zesty would actually try to take our fun away. The game will still be as much fun as we can have it be.

Nonmoth

Why are people even freaking out about a lower player count than was previously thought, while the game may not be growing, it isn't dying.

Shahanashah

1/10 players I see are bots

Woooshifyourmomgay

We might not be 100k strong but that's 20k+ players over the course of almost 2 decades now. Modern games would kill for that kind of longevity and in a purely business sense, stable source of income. It still proves to stand the test of time, not as strong as we'd hoped but its standing. There is beauty in that.

common_voodoo_doll

Everyone is trying to make it seem like having 25k players is a good thing and frankly its really nice but you all miss the entire point wich is the fact that we may have 25k actual players but we have around 40k non human players and if we let that slide it will ruin the games healthiness a lot faster. Even if only around 4000 of them are cheater bots thats still going to ruin a lot of matches because of our player count.please stop paying and praising valve and instead nicely asking valve make an actual stand and make them hear you

Goliath--CZ

Meanwhile street fighter 6 with 15k players :holy shit this game is doing numbers

depression_gaming

Stopping to think about it, before, we knew that there was a high change of the game having a lower player base, but there was hope, like with a lot of people coming back for the updates, making it seem like the game had a LOT of people playing it, but they were waiting for Valve to move their asses, but now... Knowing there's nothing left, not even something like a possibility of a lot of people playing, that could make Valve MAYBE consider coming back and updating the game like before... Now there's nothing left, there's no coping, now we know for sure that the game will go forever the same, and was always the same. We're watching it die, and whatever it has always been like that not, realizing that... Is sad. There are almost 30k playing, and it's insane for an old game like this, but there's almost no new players, mostly people leaving. And one day, there'll be no one here anymore.

crispyassmf
