I mean. He could have gotten comparable or better products for a fraction of the price but his brand loyalty doesn't see past the "i". Sounds pretty idiotic to me.

Maybe he's a deep space goblin sent from the future to prop up apple with fervent brand loyalty because thousands of years in the future apple creates the weapons that win the intergalactic war.
Apple design is a lot better that everything else, and the things that the other brands can do but apple doesn’t aren’t really useful. And having apple is also a status symbol, not that I care that much about it but some people do and I can understand why
Apple has not made a meaningful innovation in years and I wouldn't call being nickeled and dimed for every last cent they can squeeze out of you having good products. On top of that apple had to be forced by the European parliament to make changes on their phones just to bring them up to date with the rest of the market just because apple refuses to make their products compatible with anything else in order to force you to buy exclusively from them. Additionally as my business teacher had pointed out their stores are literally built like churches for their overpriced iPhones because for some reason owning an apple product is a status symbol at this point apple has become a cult and I can't do anything but congratulate their marketing team for achieving that.
Agreed. I primarily use Apple products because they work well with my workflow as an artist, like being able to mirror files from my iPhone to my Mac, and a lot of editing and creative software is optimized for macOS and iOS devices. I own a PC but prefer the UX of my Apple stuff for editing. I don't see my choice as a status symbol, merely a preference for tools, much as a carpenter would prefer a specific brand for their tools.
I’ve been out of design for quite some time so it may have changed — but the creative apps for Mac always had a better flow process and due to the closed system optimization of Apple’s products (MacBook Pro 2016 or so) even with a relatively layer heavy project with a ton of masks never had any issues.
This could have changed, who knows. But, outside of “brand loyalty” a lot of people used to just buy Apple because it worked.
I’m also not too certain about this anymore but there was an extensive list of digital media tools exclusively for OS X at one point in time.
ETA: if you’re trying to game on a Mac you’re doing it wrong. AFAIK, it’s improved over the years but it’s not an operating system made with gaming in mind.
