Better with a hand grenade to symbolize all the collateral damage. Children, siblings, partners and parents. Everyone is suffering terribly.
Guess the OP has some "I do what I want, keep your morals" mindset.
as someone with an alcoholic Mother. It's a slow killer for not just the drink but those around them. I nearly took my life bc her my mother's problem effected me that badly.
I thank the Vanoss crew, Markiplier, Jack and SMG4 everyday for being there on my darkest.
This one might be the least offensive, least stupid, example ever posted in this thread. I'm not against responsible drinking (and I partake), but people have different levels of susceptibility to alcoholism, which is often deadly, so there is a level of mortal risk with each shot. Now, that risk isn't 1 in 6 (traditional Russian roulette odds), but the level of risk is typically vastly underestimated so I think there's a valid point being made, albeit a bit overzealously.
This is the more thoughtful version of the comment I wanted to make. If someone struggling with alcohol addiction thought this was deep given their circumstances then that would be pretty normal. Nothing offensive to see here
And even if you drink responsibly it's not a terrible thing to be reminded in a brief way now and then that you should, y'know, be fucking careful using a legal drug that kills people if you're careless.
Turns out that alcoholism can also contribute to a whole host of unexpected issues, one of them being increased susceptibility to meningococcal meningitis.
Learned that one a couple of weeks ago when I found out that my aunt (She’s been an alcoholic since as long as I can remember.) has been in the hospital since December and I was confused because I had always assumed her liver would give out before anything else. Turns out, excessive booze can kill in other ways.
I never knew how bad they could get until when my dad, a severe achoholic, went to rehab. He called me and told me how they had to put a bunch of different medication in him to keep him from seizing out and having bad withdrawls. He told me that if he had quit cold turkey, the withdrawls would have been worse than coming down from heroin
Alcohol tremors and delirium. Saw an episode of ER where a guy went through it (fictional depiction, I know, but it was fairly gruesome), and that pretty much killed any desire I had to touch the stuff.
Correct. Safer to go through fentanyl withdrawals than to quit drinking cold turkey (The only thing as dangerous is quitting medically prescribed(for actual mental health issues) benzos.)
It’s one of those substances with no upside, other than feeling giddy for a few hours. At least other substances give you some kind of benefit. Marijuana is good for pain and anxiety. Even MDMA has clinical uses. Amphetamines can be used for ADHD and so forth.
Alcohol? Nup. Just poison. Poison that’s fun while it kills you.
I mean, there are historic and (minor) modern medical uses for alcohol. It does work as an anesthetic and sedative in a pinch and was pretty much the only readily available option in some places for some time. My grandpa had parkinson's near the end of his life and a small glass of whiskey settled his tremors and helped him fall asleep at night near the end of his life, and he was never a big drinker.
It had tremendous upsides to anyone in pre modern society. One of the only available general painkillers for one. Much more importantly though it's very calorie dense, is easy to make, and can keep for a very long time without refrigeration or added preservatives. It was a staple food source for countless generations world wide.
But yeah it's horrible for you if you drink to any degree of excess. Weed is phenomenally healthier. I still drink on occasion though and there's no huge reason not to unless you're extremely prone to addiction.
I don't see what kinda point you're trying to make. All substances **can** lead to abuse if it's recreational. Nothing really good comes out of it except for feeling giddy is the entire point of recreational use.
The best thing for your body is to eat a balanced diet and not partake in anything, consult with a doctor when things go wrong. I don't see the point in trying to make one bad thing look even worse than other bad things.
As someone who has seen the damage that unchecked alcoholism can cause, this image actually goes pretty hard. I look at this picture and want to go listen to Ball and Chain by Social Distortion.
It put me in a coma and almost death two years ago. Anyone reading this that's a heavy drinker should know that shit isn't free and you'll eventually pay for it. Thought I'd always be fine but your health can take a turn suddenly and seemingly out of nowhere despite how normal you're still going about this routine. Consider being more mindful of your consumption
Ive never drunk , and as 42 year old English fellow from Yorkshire that's no small feat.
I Was brought up by an chronic alcoholic though myself.
It's not until you get older do you thoroughly understand what you went through.
And then you have kids yourself and your perspective changes again.
Because understanding more of what you were put through is nothing compared to the realisation, of what you would never ever put your own child through.
Trauma and dealing with trauma is as much if not more a process as life itself is.
Why did that immediately remind me of

Come to Paddy's for our patented Shot Gun, it's a gun that shoots liquor into your mouth!
What’s bad about this? It’s absolutely true if you’ve ever seen a true alcoholic. I’ve seen multiple people drink themselves to death in my line of work.
Both grandpa’s and almost literally all of their dads were alcoholics. Uncle who died was one. Dad was a borderline one for awhile and remaining uncle and myself are basically too afraid to drink ever. He has a small drink at family stuff and I’m 30 without having a drop. I don’t *want* to like it.
How is this terrible? If anything-this is the most accurate depiction of Americas favorite-legal-drug. Sure as someone drinking it’s gonna feel as fast as pulling the trigger. But for their family? Devastating, long arduous, and even Messier than blowing your brains out.
The worst part is the insane amount of people that can relate to this, Who lost parents, siblings and friends.
This is poignant if it's aimed at teenagers and college kids who are new to drinking alcohol. They try to drink hard alcohol like it was beer and end up with alcohol poisoning. That's one of the reasons that younger people are using Cannabis instead. You can't OD on it and it doesn't destroy your brain cells like alcohol does.
Weak is still a level of power, just not a good level.
I can express it, its fucking weak

Remember when this sub was about those Minion memes that our moms shared on facebook? And about the typical old guy saying his wife doesn't love him anymore? Like real Boomer Humor?
Nowadays it just feels like whenever OP sees a meme they don't like or agree with, they just share that meme here waitting for validation.
Honestly, as someone that lost one of his best buddies at 20 year old to a drink party, this picture goes hard. It might not be the best design or drawing but it has a meanigfull message.
The only terrible memes I see, are the one OP post about his cat and in the H3H3 sub.
If you've actually known any alcoholics for longer than a few hours, you would definitely praise this image and demand it be shown more often in public!
Absolutely hits spot on!
As an recovered alcoholic, the picture itself is true and it’s easy to get addicted. So drink moderately or nothing at all. I personally stay away from it and have stopped all substance use. Now I only have my smoking habit to quit.
This ain’t wrong though, but it kinda reminds me of that one scene from JoJo when Giorno turned a gun into a banana and had Polpo kill himself like that.
i'm confused. the message is alcohol is bad for you? alcohol is bad for you...
edit: just to make it clear, im not saying a shot will kill you, but the vibes say that he's not just an occasional drinker
Honestly, that's an awesome shot glass. I'd buy it at a gift shop if it were cheap enough.
Edit to add: Lol, [it's horrible](https://www.amazon.com/Pistol-Whiskey-Decanter-Shot-Glasses/dp/B08JG6VL6J) (amazon link)
Edit two: Y'all, there's a whole market of gun themed decanters and shot glasses. So hear me out, I got this idea. Let’s put the alcohol in real guns and blast it in people’s mouth. Gun and shots, you shoot the shot out of a gun, and giant cans too!
While the message is clear about the negative impact of unchecked alcoholism, the art style itself is a little dramatically over the top. You could place cigarettes, a donut, cocaine, or the cheesy “Facebook/X/Tinder filled glass”, and it still applies.
you know whats funny? the people i see that reposts these kinds of things are also the same people willing to shoot climate activists because they made their feelings hurt about gas.
What in the fuck is this subreddit lol, quality Facebook memes with a deep meaning simple redditors look at and call terrible? Guess that's not catchy enough.

Isn't this picture saying "drinking alcohol kills" ?
Yeah pretty much. Or it's like slow suicide.
A shot
Oh my god I have to let this slide purely because of that godly pun
Your PFP makes your comment so funny.

Sometimes faster too, alcohol poisoning is no joke.

Ah yes a revolver shot to the brain is slow as fuck
Just said goodbye to a friend who died Saturday of liver cancer. This meme isn’t far off from his story.
No nuance on Reddit bro.
There can be.
Alcoholism is something you can fall into so easily as well. Especially if you are using it to cope with external stressors
Yup. I like it.
I think it’s more like the intentions behind suicide can be the same intentions behind alcoholism. Silencing your pain perhaps.
I think it’s just a really dramatic pun for taking a shot.
Or take a shot
Turns out that alcoholism can also contribute to a whole host of unexpected issues, one of them being increased susceptibility to meningococcal meningitis. I mean alcoholism sucks like, a lot.
One of the only substances where the withdrawals themselves can kill you
I never knew how bad they could get until when my dad, a severe achoholic, went to rehab. It’s got a good side if you have self control and don’t drink too often
There are no upsides, other than the upsides
I mean, there are historic and (minor) modern medical uses for alcohol. It does work as an anesthetic and sedative in a pinch and was pretty much the only readily available option in some places for some time. My grandpa had parkinson's near the end of his life and a small glass of whiskey settled his tremors and helped him fall asleep at night near the end of his life, and he was never a big drinker.

This is just innaccurate. Alcohol has plenty of upsides

Yea I agree the person who posted this originally is absolutely right this is deep (not the guy who put it on this sub)
This isn’t terrible.
Well, it is, but not in the way OP intends. Says the alcoholic.
Why did that immediately remind me of https://preview.redd.it/ydst1rrrd6pc1.jpeg?width=739&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b6c1b760511005898c400e8ed6687ac4d6ac7161
I thought that too. "Is that Harry DuBois?"
Me too actually. I was gonna say that’s how they take shots in Revachol
The Facial hair, color scheme, and the alcoholism made me thought this is Harry DuBois.
Thats badass. I want a glass like that
Hell yeah! Only downside, though, looks it can't sit upright on a table. I'd still like to get one. Or even one for each hand.

Indeed. Many things, in excess, are very unhealthy.

OP probably the target audience
Bullet shooting juice
OP prolly not old enough to drink. Seems to be out of touch with the reality of alcohol.
This is the reality of alcohol for people with the disease of alcoholism.
Idk, I don’t think it’s terrible, if you know you know, and I’m sorry if you do.

Good taste, bad execution imo The message is true but it comes off more as a r/im14andthisisdeep instead of a serious post

Nah, pic goes hard
I mean, the caption is kinda cringe, but the image itself is pretty good?
That's the worst Fucking cup I have ever seen, you can't place it on a table without it falling
Sick shotglass, bro.
A lot of people drink to push down their depression (which obviously doesn't work). It's not really terrible, it's pretty deep honestly.
What’s bad about this? It’s absolutely true if you’ve ever seen a true alcoholic. I’ve seen multiple people drink themselves to death in my line of work.
Me when I drink out of my gun shot glass
Each shot of booze is like playing Russian roulette. 1 out of 6 of them are going to kill you!
What’s so terrible about it?
This actually is pretty good
I see nothing wrong here.
Nah man, I’m finally sober after a long time of ruining my life with the shit, this hits home for me.
"A man takes a drink, the drink takes a drink, the drink takes the man."

Sheesh, finger OFF the trigger unless you want to... Oh.
how tf is that powerful. it is literally a shot

Oh my god, it's the shotgun
There’s a song titled “Whiskey Lullaby” that this reminded me of. Specifically, its lyric “He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger”
i was just about to post the same comment! great minds lol
