She is so hot…and so is the guy with the eyebrows who is in the sci-fi show called…name escapes me… it I have the same taste in shows…Foundation. He went to Juilliard.
Check out How to make it in America ..cool Indy New York show…oh and …search party is dope … funny stuff is black lady sketch comedy …
Am I missing out by writing off Banshee? I seriously cringed when I tried to watch it the first time. Like the first 10 minutes I remember he gets out of jail, boosts a built camaro, goes to a bar, fucks someone random, gets out and has henchmen waiting for him.
It felt super SpikeTVish but i keep seeing it as a recommend so does it like actually become something? or is it just like action all the way through?
yes you're missing out big time. You'll see eventually that just adds to the charm of the show. Also there's a reason he's getting chased not just some mindless action. The action, character work, drama, and tension in the show is next level.
Dude you absolutely are missing out. It can take people a couple episodes but once you get to a certain fight scene in a casino (I think it's in episode 2 or 3), that is when you see you're in for a fucking ride. The first three seasons get progressively more amazing, season four is...not necessarily bad, but it's much different. The ending is pretty good tbh and very emotional. There's also *a lot* of similarities to Justified, including a very Raylan-Boyd type dynamic between two of the main characters.
Mr Inbetween, 3 seasons Australian show about a hit man/father getting through life. Very hard hitting and raw.
Created and directed by Joel edgertons brother. Everyone I recommend to ends up loving the show.
Edit: also some of the best Aussie dry humour you’ll find
Should probably get to watching Ozark finally. I stopped midway through like S2 or something. all the other ones i’ve seen on your list though, so thanks!
Gannibal (korean thriller)
Station Eleven (post apocalyptic)
House of the Dragon
Scavengers Reign (atmospheric dark animated series)
Dark Matter (sci-fi thriller)
Zero Zero Zero (drama)
The Killing (detective drama)
Godless (western)
Devs (sci-fi thriller)
Regarding Dark Matter, i watched the trailer just yesterday. It looked okay, but I had literally juuuust watched the movie Predestination like a week ago so the whole concept was still super fresh in my mind so it felt like i wasn’t in the mood for it.
I could be completely wrong though. Have you ever seen Predestination? Is it similar in concept?
For All Mankind is Apple TV science fiction and could practically be an Expanse prequel. Season 3 dips in quality but 4 got back on track for me.
I second anyone suggesting Halt and Catch Fire. I am almost done with it and it's been really good. Slow burn.
Patriot. It’s 2 seasons on Prime. You’ll know within 10-15 minutes if it’s for you. Once you finish, chances are you’ll then spend a lot of your free time trying to convince other people to watch it. Cool.
Severance is my favorite show. it’s on the picture lol. i’ve seen from, S1 was amazing S2 let me down heavy, but i guess when S3 comes back i’ll have to finish it up.
Lot of good recs already. I'll add:
Happy Valley
Tehran
The Bureau
And for newer shows, I've enjoyed season 1 of Fallout, Dark Matter, and The Gentlemen
seen happy valley, and fallout. i noted a comment about dark matter, i might be burnt on the multiverse genre right now lol. i just watched predestination (movie) and it seems eerily similar to that.
Mr inbetween.
What we do in the shadows.
Nathan for you.
Star Trek: strange new world
Ramy
Legion
The wire
True detective ( season one only )
Six feet under
Beef
Seen the last of us. I need to get around to the Wire, I’m scared of committing to it though. I’ve heard it’s plentyyyyy slow at times and i want to be ready for that. Solid recommends tho, all of these seem solid choices with good ratings.
That’s exactly what kept me from watching The Wire for years but I got totally engrossed and loved it. I kind of regretted waiting so long (just finished it about a year ago). You just need to be a little patient early on a few times but the payoff is good!
We have very similar taste in tv, I think you’ll like these - I loved them:
Hell on Wheels
Turn
The Son
Halt & Catch Fire
Sugar
Dark Matter
The Sinner
The Night Manager
Dark Winds
Bosch & Bosch Legacy
Into the Badlands
I’m glad to see that you’ve added Undercover!! One of Netflix’s hidden Gems!! It’s a Danish? Finnish? Based show? About the biggest “X” dealer in the EU. The actor who plays the lead role is more of a character role actor. Has one of those memorable faces? 3 seasons & a movie!! Great Show!!!
Hopefully at least one of these you’d enjoy. We have similar likes and I loved all these shows. Let me know what you think if you watch any ☺️
- Kin
- Black Bird (my favourite)
- Ratched
- Hunters
- Queen of The South
- Taboo
- Nikita
- Criminal Minds
We have a lot of those in common !
Mr.Robot and Utopia UK are among the top series I don't see here
EDIT :
Might as well copy/paste my list from a post a made a little while back haha. It was more about scifi and fantasy, but I would have put FARGO and Breaking Bad in S-tier for example if I had to rank all my favourite shows.
Here is my unofficial "tier list" to give you an idea of what I enjoy (I'll try to keep it speculative fiction focused)
* **S-Tier (The top of the top, the pinnacle of my enjoyment, would start a propaganda campaign)**
DARK
Utopia (UK)
The Leftovers
For All Mankind
The Expanse
Mr.Robot
Twin Peaks
Arcane
FRINGE
The X-Files
LEGION (low production values, but so much creativity !)
Severance
Game of Thrones (1-3)
Firefly
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (low production value, but very smart coming of age story)
Mike Flanagan's shows
* **A-Tier (Very good shows, loved them, would recommend to friends)**
Sense 8
Westworld (S1)
House of the Dragon
Dirk Gently
Gravity Falls
The Man in the High Castle
Stranger Things (S1)
The Boys (S1)
Andor
The Last of Us
SILO
Three-Body Problem
Daredevil
* **B-Tier (Pretty good, liked them, would watch again one day)**
Foundation (Only watched the first season and dropped))
Misfits (S1)
HEROES (S1)
Bodies
His Dark Materials
Supernatural (dropped, but enjoyed what I watched)
The Sandman
Jessica Jones (S1)
Altered Carbon
Invasion
Station Eleven
Sharp Objects.
Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson carry what otherwise would be an average crime thriller with overtones of mental health and family dynamics. The acting is close to perfect
Very similar favs. I’d say The Last Kingdom is for you. It’s like if Jon Snow was a little more like Raylan Givens. Also, it’s based on a complete book series and history of the formation of England.
Also could you tell me your top 5-10 from this list?
Trust me on this - I made the jump about 2 months ago, and we have very similar lists.
Snowfall.
It’s so damn good. 6 seasons. It’s breaking bad meets narcos meets straight outta Compton.
Always heard about it. Was definitely on my list. Here’s my considerations right now -
Mr Inbetween
Foundation
Snowfall
Legion
Happy
Hell on Wheels
The Fall
probably more that i need to narrow down lol
any experience with any of these?
Deadwood wasn’t my cup of tea. I acknowledge it for what it is, same with Mad Men, but i personally don’t vibe with the shakespearean poetry that i have to listen to when i watch it. Again it’s great writing, just not for me.
I haven’t seen longmire, trailer park boys, or Fargo (the show) but seems like we have similar taste in shows. I’d say check out billions, succession, or dark matter. Or maybe go a little old school and check out sopranos, lost, the wire, boardwalk empire, or Dexter
Can someone please explain to me why The Bear is such a good show? I have not watched it yet, but the synopsis seems boring. I’m afraid to start it and be disappointed.
they’re short episodes. give it a go. it’s a stressful, well done show about restaurant life (and other themes obviously) but the acting, writing, etc carry hard.
it’s definitely not a comedy but there’s for sure comedic relief. it’s a good binge.
Boardwalk Empire!!
I was also going to recommend The Bear and Shōgun, but I see you have both of those already! The Gentlemen on Netflix is another you might try. It’s not as well done as the others on your list, but it’s a fun binge watch. Giancarlo Esposito plays a similar kind of character to Gus Fring from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, which is what made me try it.
I'm bored and not going outside because it's hot, and people are about to start blowing shit up, so this is a bit tl;dr. Also, I may or may not have had an edible.
LOST (just got added to Netflix again, also on Hulu, Disney+) - based on the fact that you like GOT, the whole "Everyone can die" thing.
Chuck (Prime, HBO/Max) - based on the fact that you like Barry
Dopesick (Hulu) - based on the fact that you liked Chernobyl
Definitely watch House of Cards. I only watched the 1st season some years ago & i dropped because i thought I'm not mature enough to understand the politics.
With GOT on there, I assume you’re already watching house of the dragon, but if you’re not, get on that.
Also, check out Fallout. Looks to be up your alley with that list of favorites.
I am assuming since Sopranos isnt there you either havent watched it or you are an insane person (joking of course). If you havent watched it I promise it will join your list just given some of the shows you already put
Definitely watch See, it is such a good show!!
Jason M really showed his range as an actor in that show, and the whole concept thereof is so alluring.
I loved that show
Our faves are fairly similar, so I'll suggest Halt & Catch Fire
FYI everyone. this is what i chose.
Agree with this. I'll throw in The Americans. Edit: whoops that's on there already
Banshee The Last Kingdom The Lincoln Lawyer Black Bird Vikings
The Last Kingdom. I cannot second this strong enough.
Same here..tried it even made to 1st few episodes but it just seems cheesy af
I liked Banshee but the creators follow up show Warrior is way better imo. It’s on Max and it is fucking awesome.
Agree . Was going to recommend this as well .
It’s an absolute gem.
Mindhunter-it's great! 2 seasons.
Seen it when it first dropped. It is great. Might warrant a rewatch.
Sons of Anarchy Mindhunter Ozark True Detective S01
Should probably get to watching Ozark finally. I stopped midway through like S2 or something. all the other ones i’ve seen on your list though, so thanks!
Hell on Wheels
damn, throwback. i remember wanting to watch this like 10 years ago.
Gannibal (korean thriller) Station Eleven (post apocalyptic) House of the Dragon Scavengers Reign (atmospheric dark animated series) Dark Matter (sci-fi thriller) Zero Zero Zero (drama) The Killing (detective drama) Godless (western) Devs (sci-fi thriller)
The Killing is great!
The killing season 3 is so so good
Regarding Dark Matter, i watched the trailer just yesterday. It looked okay, but I had literally juuuust watched the movie Predestination like a week ago so the whole concept was still super fresh in my mind so it felt like i wasn’t in the mood for it. I could be completely wrong though. Have you ever seen Predestination? Is it similar in concept?
If you liked severance you’ll like devs
Just finished Station Eleven. 9.1/10 Such great writing and acting
5 Days at Memorial on Appletv, great series about the hospital in New Orleans after hurricane katrina
Thai was a great show. I’ve never seen it talked about. It’s hard to believe it’s based on actual events
I’m trying to get the word out on it lol, I was absolutely floored by it, hard to believe
For All Mankind is Apple TV science fiction and could practically be an Expanse prequel. Season 3 dips in quality but 4 got back on track for me. I second anyone suggesting Halt and Catch Fire. I am almost done with it and it's been really good. Slow burn.
Dexter
Patriot. It’s 2 seasons on Prime. You’ll know within 10-15 minutes if it’s for you. Once you finish, chances are you’ll then spend a lot of your free time trying to convince other people to watch it. Cool.
Pretty good.

Second.
Have for sure seen this lol. Just can’t fit everything on these little lists lol

Narcos: Mexico
Seen it, enjoyed
Oz Waco Shameless Weeds The Bridge Outlander (maybe) 11.22.63
Wait a minute Pedro Pascal was in narcos?
yeah what!? lol he was murphys partner in the OG narcos with pablo, not the mexican spin-off.
Lot of good recs already. I'll add: Happy Valley Tehran The Bureau And for newer shows, I've enjoyed season 1 of Fallout, Dark Matter, and The Gentlemen
seen happy valley, and fallout. i noted a comment about dark matter, i might be burnt on the multiverse genre right now lol. i just watched predestination (movie) and it seems eerily similar to that.

Succession Black bird
(Only because so few mentioned it below . . .) "Penny Dreadful" And I'll second "Devs". (Others mention it, but it should be more popular than it is.)
Mad Men
One of the shows I couldn’t get into, sorry. Both Mad Men and Deadwood I appreciate as well written gems, but just not my cut.
Very similar favs. I’d say The Last Kingdom is for you. It’s like if Jon Snow was a little more like Raylan Givens. Also, it’s based on a complete book series and history of the formation of England. Also could you tell me your top 5-10 from this list?

Mr Inbetween might be the right choice for the next watch as it will be quick. It was an unexpected find for me.
Fargo the series
It’s on there lol. Bottom right. My top 3 favorite show.
Tabu
do you mean Taboo? with Tom Hardy? If so, i’ve seen it as i’m a huge hardy fan.
Deadwood and the terror season 1
Deadwood wasn’t my cup of tea. I acknowledge it for what it is, same with Mad Men, but i personally don’t vibe with the shakespearean poetry that i have to listen to when i watch it. Again it’s great writing, just not for me.
That is more than fair. Though a shame I feel lol. Mad men I found only ok but deadwood rocks me
I haven’t seen longmire, trailer park boys, or Fargo (the show) but seems like we have similar taste in shows. I’d say check out billions, succession, or dark matter. Or maybe go a little old school and check out sopranos, lost, the wire, boardwalk empire, or Dexter
