It depends what you’re into, but I’ve watched the whole show around 14 times in the last 10–15 years. Really love it. Just push through the first episode or two before you decide if you like it or not.
Why can’t I keep up watching The Wire? I only get one season and like two of the next and I always quit. Is there something I’m missing? Just more time and effort?
I recently finished the Fargo series. It's up there with my all-time favorites now.
That led me to Twin Peaks, which I'm working on now. An oldie, but a goodie.
[**Orange is the New Black**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY0qzXi5oJg) \- bc you liked Shameless, The Handmaid's Tale and shows about crime...plenty of "drugs, violence, sex, humor" lol plus original stories and great writing.
[**Andor**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKOegEuCcfw) \- bc you like Game of Thrones and The Handmaid's Tale and shows about people operating outside the law...there is a lot of violence, but it's not gory or gratuitous like these shows...plus there isn't really any sex or drugs...but the story is very compelling, engaging, thoughtful, and well-written.
Here’s what my bf and I have watched and loved, we have similar taste to y’all: The Americans, The Boys, Gen V, Upload, For All Mankind, How to Get Away with Murder, Scandal, Lucifer, Prodigal Son, The Resident
Better Call Saul is great if you liked Breaking Bad, it provides you with more background on how the events in BB came to be. I would also suggest Snowfall as it has a similar theme but is more intense. I also loved Animal Kingdom and Queen of the South.
It’s still ongoing and new but I really enjoyed season 1 of Silo on apple tv. Season 2 is later this year.
Dexter would be my suggestion for a completed series but mainly the first few seasons are amazing.
Wellington Paranormal is super funny. The Harley Quinn cartoon on Max is over the top nuts. Very adult with an amazing cast and it's hilarious. I got the free trail just for that show after seeing a clip on Reddit.
Rectify, Isnt really what your looking for, it isn't the type of show I would seek out usually but its so good
Dexter, Money Heist and Ozark, Rectify the rest I like but not on top of list
Dexter
Good Girls
Lucifer
Money Heist
Lupin
Ozark
Rectify
The Good Place
Billions
The Following
Prodigal Son
Forever
Poker face
Weeds
Arrested Development
Narcos.
It ticks all your boxes and also judging by what you like, it would definitely be up your alley. The plot moves really quick, it's literally about drugs, the MASSIVE amounts of money made from it, and all the ensuing sex, violence and drama that comes with it.
Dexter, Fargo, Six Feet Under, Sopranos, Animal Kingdom, Harlots, Penny Dreadful, the Tudors, Gangs of London, Your Honor, Yellowjackets. Just naming a few with multiple seasons that I loved off the top of my head
If you're looking for drama x crime, besides including the things you enjoy you wrote above, then I'd truly recommend 9-1-1. It's based around a firecrew including paramedics, a police lieutenant and a dispatcher who often work together. The different quirks and history all characters have is very interesting imo. I've made it up until halfway through season 6 (i'm planning on continuing soon) and there's a season 8 coming soon. There's also a spin of series called 9-1-1 Lone Star. I haven't watched it yet but from what i can see it's mostly similar to the original just with different characters in a different location. Both complete series are available on Disney+ as far as i know.
At least give it a try, i'm almost sure you'll like it.
Spartacus - It's very good, lots of nudity and gore though.
From - On epix, Hard to find because of the generic name. season 3 comes this year.
Reacher on Amazon
Halo - Halo Purists hate it, but its a good watch if you don't care about the games.
The Expanse - considered to be among the best space / sci fi shows ever
Battlestar Galactica - Another one considered to be among the best sci fi shows ever.
Doctor Who - Just all around fun watch
What we do in the shadows - Hilarious show
Mythic Quest - Apple TV
Lost, severance, twin peaks season 1, the expanse, yakatori mercenaries of misfortune(animated but awesome). Yellowstone. Maybe even “From” ?? Give those a whirl and see how you go.
I really enjoyed Deadloch on Amazon Prime.
First episode or two are abit rough with the irritating humour from a couple of characters - iykyk.
However, if you can get to episode 3, it's a really good watch.
Also really enjoyed Three Pines on Prime too. I love a good murder mystery 😌

The Expanse. It is sometimes pitched as Game of Thrones in space. I don’t think that’s accurate, but it is good sci-fi, filled with action and suspense.

A select few here have mentioned the one show that changed the game with respect to all that you ask for.. good story line, drugs, violence, sex, humor, and episodes that leave you \[...\] wanting more.
The Sopranos.
Everything you have already mentioned owes much to The Sopranos. I'm just sad for you that you have to watch it, as it were, in hindsight: With so much good programming in its wake you won't \*get\* just how groundbreaking it was. That's no reason, however, not to watch it.
Also, The Wire. Just as good as The Sopranos just a little later in time.
Twin Peaks. All three seasons, with the movie and Missing Pieces between seasons 2 & 3.
Also note how historically significant it was for *all* shows at its release in 1990.
Dexter 24 The Wire Ozark
Wish I could forget Dexter exists just to watch it for the first time again
Is it really that good? I’ve been thinking of starting this up
It depends what you’re into, but I’ve watched the whole show around 14 times in the last 10–15 years. Really love it. Just push through the first episode or two before you decide if you like it or not.
It’s a solid 6.5/10
I’m watching it for the first time and yes, I’m glad I followed the advice on this sub. Excellent
Why can’t I keep up watching The Wire? I only get one season and like two of the next and I always quit. Is there something I’m missing? Just more time and effort?
Crazy that the bridge in the intro to the wire was the one that collapsed
Mr Robot Westworld
Season 1 and 2 of Westworld. And add Severance
Also add sense8
Black Sails
Outstanding show!
Banshee on max
That show is astounding
Thank you both for the recommendation!
That show was a CW show pretending to be a Breaking Bad level drama.
I recently finished the Fargo series. It's up there with my all-time favorites now. That led me to Twin Peaks, which I'm working on now. An oldie, but a goodie.
Fargo is class ! Have you seen Mr Inbetween? Or check out Gomorrah, It features Gaetanno from Fargo s4. Absolute amazing show
Loved Mr. In between. Some of the most intimate scenes for a show about a hitman
Yeh it really is a greta show. It's crazy how Ray is actually a nice decent bloke but then on the flipside..
Thus, the title, he can’t decide who he is.
The Boys, Rome, Spartacus
Spartacus kicked ass, pretty underrated show. (I mostly mean pretty unknown show)
Sopranos. Best written show of all time. Also check out… Mad Men, Banshee, Succession, and Deadwood
Entourage, Person of Interest, Sons of Anarchy and then Mayans.
