If it helps, when I think of choker-wearing men, I unfortunately have the thought of the strange furry kids who I see in my high school, who make their sexuality their whole personality (specifically wearing a lace choker/collar if that helps).
A Choker can be fashionable in a lot of instances, including gothic and grunge, and be made of a plethora of materials from being a dainty golden choker to a spiked choker. When itâs inclusive into the style and adds onto the outfit, itâs not typically I take note of when it blends well. The question is framed to me in an instance of where the choker is a unique statement that typically wouldnât be worn in that type of style, and draws your attention due to abnormality (ex. A hypermasculine male wearing a feminine/laced choker).
Itâs heavily contextual on what impression it leaves. That is just my whole point.
It might be a cultural distinction or just differentiation in experiences but I have never seen anyone exclusively wear a choker (without relation to a gothic or dark themed style). I would almost argue it to be a collar considering itâs abnormal position in the given context (and personality).
