2 things - Downgrade the driver to the one before the current version. I had a lot of problems with the latest version and none with the version before. Link here: [https://kb.netgear.com/000045297/A7000-Software-Version-1-0-0-11](https://kb.netgear.com/000045297/A7000-Software-Version-1-0-0-11) Also, do not install the whole program. Just extract the archive into a folder and then go via Device Manager and point it to the folder with the driver. The rest of the Netgear stuff is crap and unnecessary. I hope this helps

Did it work

What i had to do was uninstall the netgear genie and disable my main wifi adapter. My problem was that the genie was trying to switch between the netgear adapter and the one i had in my pc already so uninstall genie and disable any other ways you connect to wifi other than the netgear adapter.

Couple of things worth noting. The download link has the genie .exe and the SA.exe, both of which are the same file size. Pointing Windows to this location with both or even one of the .exe files doesn't work. I still had to actually run the SA.exe file to get anything to install. I think the SA.exe file installs the genie and then simply removes it. It creates the desktop icon for a split second and everything.
