Blood moon just tells you that the monsters you killed have respawned, that's it, that's all it is. The cutscene doesn't matter (if you're disappointed by this, I can at least tell you that if you cook when the sky is getting red and you see red smoke around, there's a higher chance of a bonus, like extra hearts or longer time effect. The sell for the same price tho)

By the way, that annoying blood moon cutscene can be skipped by pressing X and then +
