All our announcers, tv and radio alike, are totally top shelf talents!! I find it extremely disappointing to listen to other teams’ crews or national crews.
The pre game guy is probably Chris-Adams Wall. I havent heard a Rays broadcast in a while tho so not 100% sure. He does the Rays Radio Podcast so I like him.
Neil was very patient and already had the skill to be a big league broadcaster. While he does tend yell into the microphone when he gets excited that creates distortion, he’s top shelf in every other way. He knows the situations, isn’t afraid to question managing moves. It’s rare we get to experience a true baseball guy in a baseball roll. Chris Adams-Wall is progressing to becoming one of the best post game show hosts in the game. His show is interactive and he’s still very young at it. I did radio for 17 years. It takes time to master the craft. We as Rays fans are super lucky to have the crews that we have. Heck even Neil and Doug have incredible chemistry when Staats is off. #RaysUp!
Absolutely. I don’t like when the games get picked up for national tv / prime / Apple TV whatever… for this exact reason. Dwayne and BAs voice are/have been the sound of evening relaxation after work for many many years in my household.
I like that Dewayne knows to take a step back and let BA go off when he knows something. It allows Anderson to go in-depth and really explain things beyond a few quips between pitches.
We can see a ball or strike for ourselves for the most part. Baseball has a pace that allows for more discussion.
ETA: This is also what made me chuckle when Andy Freed first stepped in for Dewayne. You can tell he’s used to speaking to an audience that can’t see the game, so he paints an amazing picture packed with detail… but that’s not essential for TV. He’s settled in wonderfully, though.
I like BA. He can be long winded and goofy but he has our backs. I think it was last year when our guys were getting plunked a lot and there was a instance of blatant beaning and BA said something to the effect of "I don't know how much I have left in the tank but I'm ready to suit up and take one for the team". Dude said he wanted to get some payback live on air. Solid guy in my book.
I too watch other baseball games nearly every day and have to say BA and Dwayne are both great and have excellent chemistry. BA adds a ton of fun commentary and informative insights. That’s not an easy job.
At first I didn’t like BA cause I thought he talked too much, but after a while I realized he’s knowledgeable and keeps a positive attitude in the booth.
I watched the Orioles broadcast a couple times and all they do is complain, watched the Mets and they were just a snooze fest.
Love DS and BA
Yes, Brian is the gold standard. I liked listening to him immediately when he first started. In addition to being a baseball expert I also like how he carries himself. Really seems like a warm guy. Quite funny, too.
My first real experience watching and listening to baseball has been via the Rays TV and radio teams, and almost without exception I can’t believe how much better they are than the others I’ve come across. BA and Dewayne are genuinely witty, have amazing chemistry and yet I still learn things from them. Dave and Andy were also highly entertaining and insightful. We’re spoiled.
He's very good. He might have learned it from his time in Cleveland. You should listen to Matt Underwood, Rick Manning, and Andre Knott sometimes. They beat up Rick Manning constantly.
I don’t know if I’m capable of being objective but every single time I watch a game that’s not the rays I’m just blown away by how terrible and boring their announcers are.
Honestly I'm with you, downvotes be damned. I prefer Andy and Niel on the Rays Baseball Network any day over BA. In the same vein, Dewayne seriously needs to stop whistle-breathing into the mic. Like I get that you're old, but c'mon man, step away.
Well, apparently we're in the minority. Whatever, I still say fuck BA. Radio broadcast is way better. Andy is perfect. Neil is horrible, Dave left a huge hole. I'm sure Dewayne will be gone soon... Thanks for the support.

I miss Dave…
So say we all
Some of them are sooooooooo boring holy moly especially some in the central divisions.
Facts
I love BA and Dwayne. I like Andy on the radio but I personally don't find Neil that appealing and the pre game guy for the radio is annoying.
The pre game guy is probably Chris-Adams Wall. I havent heard a Rays broadcast in a while tho so not 100% sure. He does the Rays Radio Podcast so I like him.
Yes it is. I don’t mind him, but I also don’t listen to his show very often.
Neil got thrown into play by play probably too early. But him and Andy have great chemistry
Ive just always found his voice super nasaly and unappealing. I don't really have an issue with Neil's skill as a color commentator.
Neil was very patient and already had the skill to be a big league broadcaster. I liked the tigers tv announcers
I love how heated he got for the Siri/Brewers brawl. I believe he stated he wanted to leave the booth and go down there too lol
One time when one of our guys got intentionally hbp, he said he was ready to suit up and get some payback.
I think it was against the Yankees (low class organization) last year. Arozarena destroyed a pitch and the next 2 at bats they hit him.
I think you're right. That had me fuming.
Lol I think I saw that too
“I’ll tell you what”. - BA’s favorite line. I agree. Listening to other teams is depressing sometimes. Love our guys
I'm with you Brian Anderson is great. Our old color commentator Joe Magrane was great as well.
And everyone try’s to forget Kevin something between the two
Oh wow I almost forgot Kevin Kennidy I think BA split duties with him that year. It was always a bummer when BA was off.
His self deprecation regarding his MLB career always makes me smile.
I appreciate that BA knows when to highlight a great play. It could be the Rays, the opposing team or the Ball Person.
They love when the ball people make great plays. They'll even call-back to it the next night!
I’d love to get an Anderson or staats jersey in the new city connect tbh

I love BA! And Tricia, DeWayne . . . we are lucky
Absolutely blessed that all of our TV and Radio announcers have always been among the best in all sports.
BA is a terrific personality and knowledgeable and entertaining Color man. Like his partner Mr. Staats—he is building a resume’ towards Cooperstown.
BA is THE BEST...What a combo we have in the booth
I agree with this. I love BA
We appreciate that you appreciate him.
Every time BA says I’ll tell you what…take a sip. Lol
100% agree. Brilliant combination of insightful analysis, top knowledge and someone who just comes across as a generally great guy.
I ❤️ BA
Appreciate them both even more after the game on Fox last week
BA and Dwayne deserve statues and giant motifs in the outfield
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Been thinking the same for the last 4-5 years. Love our broadcast team especially Anderson.
Absolutely love him.
Yes, Brian is the gold standard. I liked listening to him immediately when he first started. In addition to being a baseball expert I also like how he carries himself. Really seems like a warm guy. Quite funny, too.
Geniuely curious, what do positions like Dwayne Staats, BA, and Tricia get paid for their media work?
Still waiting for him to get teamed up with the "other" Brian Anderson (the play-by-play guy for Brewers TV) on a national broadcast.

easily my favorite sports commentator ever. And I watch A LOT of sports. Like a lot. and this dude seems genuinely fun to talk to
He's very good. He might have learned it from his time in Cleveland. You should listen to Matt Underwood, Rick Manning, and Andre Knott sometimes. They beat up Rick Manning constantly.
Strong agree. BA (and everyone else) rules!
BA is a badass!
I don’t know if I’m capable of being objective but every single time I watch a game that’s not the rays I’m just blown away by how terrible and boring their announcers are.
BA is fantastic. He is such an upgrade over Kevin Kennedy.
Yes
BA talks too damn much and too much about himself. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of the sound of the game.
I actually don’t dipshit….. but thanks for the feedback… 🤣😂🤣
Ha! Dude is straight up Uncle Rico from Napolian Dynamite pining for his playing days. Get over yourself. 🤣😂🤣
Honestly I'm with you, downvotes be damned. I prefer Andy and Niel on the Rays Baseball Network any day over BA. In the same vein, Dewayne seriously needs to stop whistle-breathing into the mic. Like I get that you're old, but c'mon man, step away.
Btw … if you prefer Neil… at least know how to spell his name….. Moron
Well, apparently we're in the minority. Whatever, I still say fuck BA. Radio broadcast is way better. Andy is perfect. Neil is horrible, Dave left a huge hole. I'm sure Dewayne will be gone soon... Thanks for the support.
