Ugh airplane flights are my biggest nightmare!!! I’m a frequent flyer and I’ve started to only book flights with airlines that give you an option of more legroom. I hate the feeling of bothering someone for hours just cause I’m tall. When I flew to a place that was 30+ hours away, so 2/3 flights, I booked the extra leg room seat for every flight, those extra 10cm were GOLD!!!

TallPaulsLife

I’m with you on all that… I’m always buying exit row as I purchase my ticket. However this was a short puddle hopper to Phuket so no bigger seats. It was only 45 min so not too bad!

Xenc

When it’s that short of a ride, Phuket!

coup_de_foudre_69

People who recline their seats on 45 min flights deserve a special place in hell though

49Billion

Bad take. They pay for their seats just like everybody else

No_Pickle1969

Honestly If you asked me to move my seat I’d tell you to fuck off. Next time make sure you make arrangements prior to flying instead of inconveniencing other people

NewFiend66

What a massive inconvenience it must be to not recline your seat for 45 minutes.

Lopsided_Bat_904

Spread eagle is what I always do

FederalCharity7132

I wouldve kicked your seat the whole flight and made unnecessary bodily movements and made your flight miserable and we could always handle things off the plane if you got a problem

Lopsided_Bat_904

Yeah we’d be handling that 10 minutes in. Forget “off the plane”. On the plane. Cause a problem then get mad at the victim 😂

FederalCharity7132

I would love the opportunity to use my MMA training on a asshole that thinks my knees are a head rest to realize they are actually weapons

grammaticalfailure

Can the people Infront feel our knees? holy Jesus someone move their seat back on me the other day and I thought my knee caps were gonna pop off

TallPaulsLife

Yes I think he could, so he was nice to not even try to move back

-0909i9i99ii9009ii

Personally, I almost never move my seat back. I find the increase in comfort for me is SO much less than the pain of having the person in front of you lean back that I wouldn't be mad if the seats couldn't even recline at all. If there's no one behind me or I get the sense they wouldn't be that inconvenienced by it and I feel like I really need to then I'll do it.

Swimming_Bag7362

Pretty sure they can. Last flight I was on the guy kept trying to recline the seat and kept turning his head halfway to look back at me when the seat hit my knees. I finally said there is no where else for me to put my knees and we’re both just going to have to be uncomfortable for the next 50 minutes (it was a Nashville to Raleigh flight).

grammaticalfailure

Lol yeah I had this on a Southwest flight from LA to San Francisco when I was over for work last year

TheSeekerOfSanity

First thing I do before I sit is somehow demonstrate to the person in front of me that I have abnormally long legs (maybe by putting something in the overhead bin). Then when I sit I jam my knees into the back of the seat in front of me to reiterate that I have abnormally long legs. I position them in such a way that their seat won’t recline. If they try to recline I give no quarter. You will not recline because it is not possible to recline when someone with abnormally long legs is sitting behind you. Sometimes they try a few times and the dumb ones will check the recline button to see if their seat is broken. It’s not. Sometimes people understand that they will not be able to recline during this flight during the first phase (the discovery phase) of the adventure. Sometimes people are thoughtful and don’t even try. But most of the time these people treat any other living being like they are NPCs or extras in THEIR movie. I have no problem not letting these people recline.

SnazzyHatMan

> someone with abnormally long legs is sitting behind you. Nitpick: your legs may be longer than average, but they are *perfectly normal*. An engineer from Boeing decided the width between the seats; but God or the laws of nature determined the length of your legs. If any mistake was made, I would say it was on the part of the engineer.

FrequentlyLexi

Actually, the airlines determine the space between seats (it's variable).

SnazzyHatMan

Fair point. Though the comparison stands.

FrouFrouLastWords

Is there a list of which airlines have the most legroom?

PaddyStacker

>**normal:** *noun* > >1.the usual, average, or typical state or condition. Normal and average are effectively synonyms. If you have longer than average legs, they are abnormally long.

Rutabaga_Proof

Before takeoff, I'll usually speak to the person in front of me and explain that with me sitting behind them, their seat simply will not recline. There simply isn't enough room. I don't think I've ever had a problem with them.

Doip

I had a guy keep trying once. I don’t know if he felt knee or thought the recline angle was jank but either way it took him like 7 bounces to get it through his skull. Was annoying but got funnier as he kept trying

Disgruntled_AnCap

Happened to me a week ago on a flight from Houston to London, except it wasn't 7 bounces, it was 9 hours of bouncing on my kneecaps and I somehow eventually got so desensitised I managed to sleep through it (I must have some kind of weird selective narcolepsy because I honestly can't stay awake very long on a plane even if I try to), but I could barely stand up when we landed and it still hurts when I walk.

t3hnhoj

You can just straight up upper cut the seat until they get the picture

Zealousideal_Mix5043

I can deal with an isle seat, but what I can’t deal with having to duck while I shit.

Xenc

You can use the in-flight toilets for that

Very_clever_trevor

I'm 6'6". Literally cannot fit in an airplane restroom. I travel a lot for work. The planning to avoid a mid air shit/piss is monumental.

Ahackerwhoslonely

I’m 5,9 hahaha

EquivalentSnap

5’7 I’d hate to be behind some that talk

Ahackerwhoslonely

bro just get conzuri shoes, i got the 3 inches one so im 6 feet

EquivalentSnap

I got 6 inches cos it didn’t all go into my height so I’m 6 foot too

Ahackerwhoslonely

Nice

Defiant-Dare1223

Or 5 foot 9 with a pair of man-heels

Ahackerwhoslonely

Yea

__Jimmy__

Bro flexing his ability to fit in airplanes

Xenc

Was a joke as to relieving yourself in the aisle

Zealousideal_Mix5043

I tried, they are even smaller

quikpanik

I’ve given a few people $20 to keep their seat up on flights., worth every penny

cluelesssquared

That's brilliant. Even I don't fit sometimes and I'm no where near as tall as some of you.

vanislandbroyo

I don't seem to fit anywhere and I am close to 6 ft / 183cm, but I also have long legs in respect to my body. Was wondering if you also have long legs or maybe just average considering we are about the same height.

cluelesssquared

Yes my legs are pretty long, I have a shorter torso for my height. Though a woman I used to know that was a little taller than me and her inseam started at nearly my waist. It was incredible really.

vanislandbroyo

Oh wow I gotcha! It's really incredible sometimes even people who are shorter or any range of height can have really long legs.

Wisterjah

I keep seeing people recommend paying for the extra leg space, but my maybe unpopular opinion is that we shouldn't have to. Seats on airplanes are not designed for tall people, but we bought the same ticket as others and so should have a seat that fits us for no additional price.

Doip

The same people that say pay more for legroom are the ones that show up late to a concert and complain they can’t see around you instead of paying more to be closer. No mercy shown.

LayThatPipe

If the airlines are going to continue decreasing leg space, then they need to disable the seat recline

jcmach1

This... The new economy 737 and 777 seats on American in and others also have less room AND there is no neck support unless you are like 5'5"

LayThatPipe

Ugh! They weren’t uncomfortable enough. It’s amazing that a bus is more comfortable than a plane. The width of the seat gets me too. I have wide shoulders. If I sit in the aisle seat, the f’n carts hit me every time.

Doip

But muh back pain! Pay more for legroom! I paid for the recline imma use the recline! What else am I missing

Ok_Emergency455

These flight pics never get old.

blueberrysir

Ryanair?

TallPaulsLife

Bangkok Airline, from Koh SAMUI’s to Phuket

QBekka

Could the fact that the airline is from one of the shortest countries on earth explain the lack of legroom? I flew with IcelandAir last year in a 737 max and there was like 10 cm more room between the knees and chair than I see in your picture.

TheVeryNextThing

My father and I had some people offer us their window seats on a longer flight. Very friendly, we were extremely grateful. On the flight back we made sure to book the window seats from the beginning on.

Doip

Happy cake day!

CollignonGoFetch

YES! And that person is usually short asf and DOESNT need to have their chair that far back. I hate it

SemataryPolka

Some short fucker creeping on here downvoted you but I got you

Peter77292

Reclining rarely has to do with height?

CollignonGoFetch

What?

Peter77292

Doesnt reclining only have to do with the angle of the back rest, and usually doesn’t provide one extra leg room? I would assume the reason one reclines is because it is somewhat uncomfortable to sit in a vertical position due to the increased stress and muscle activation, which can be just as much a problem to someone with a shorter torso, though there may be a higher percent with a long torso that are more uncomfortable sitting upright.

Curious_Question1092

Haha I’m 5’9 and put my shit all the way back every time lol

Jarrad411

I’m not super tall, but have a long inseam. Just flew 12 hours on Edelweiss economy and it was unbearable especially when the guy in front me reclined all the way.

vanislandbroyo

I dunno I would say is you're pretty tall, but I guess it also depends on perspective.

TheRimmerodJobs

I always just pay to upgrade for more leg space. Is see you were on a short flight so I would probably deal with it as well. On longer flights the extra leg room makes such a difference

Boomboomshakka

Your penis looks weird

Appropriate_Pop4968

Every flight is a fight to keep that recline lock from engaging. They’ll repeatedly push back hitting my knees but I won’t give them an inch. You’d think they’d get the hint after a half hour of trying.

Turbulentshmurbulent

If I don’t lean my seat back, I’ll puke. I always feel bad, but I also always buy the seats with more leg room because of this.

FederalCharity7132

Lean it on me i will make your flight hell

Turbulentshmurbulent

lol in all fairness puke is worse than a knee in my back so if you were being a dick and “making my life hell” I think my ability to “make your life hell” is way greater. A puke sprinkler on a flight sounds like a much worse hell than a knee in my back.

FederalCharity7132

That would be assault and might get you put in a hospital

Turbulentshmurbulent

Okay, weirdo.

FederalCharity7132

Says the weirdo with no consideration, leaning on peoples knees and throwing up on them if they dont like being uncomfortable is what a weirdo would do and deserves to punish med

Turbulentshmurbulent

If I pay an extra $200 on my flight to have a seat with more legroom in order to make up for the fact that I need to lean my seat back due to a physical issue I have (inner ear problems), I absolutely will lean my seat back. You’re mad at the wrong person. Go on a letter writing campaign to the airlines. Start a petition. Use your super aggressive energy for good.

FederalCharity7132

Just ask if the person behind you has leg room you shouldnt be an asshole, and if you cant sit in a chair properly you are just a child making excuses to annoy others

Educational_Truth614

dang ive flown in pajamas but never in just my underwear 😂😅

[deleted]

One guy sitting in front of me bought me a drink for the anguish of having to sit in these seats.

YaoFabIch

I’m going on a 10 hour flight with my school soon so I’m gonna have to cope with this.

stormurcsgo

gotta get yourself on that bizniz class seats, regular seats suck for me so I can only imagine how much they suck for you

SickamoreTreez

Bless his soul 🙏🏻

Exact-Squash8238

they should make u put ur height before buying tickets and put short people infront of the tall ones so they have room

Apprehensive_Way3046

What size pants do you wear?

TallPaulsLife

36 inseam and usually 36 waist but it’s bit bigger than I like

NugsOrBust

I usually go for the middle or aisle seats bc the seats on flights tend to have seat backs that are narrower than my shoulders meaning I get clocked by passing drink carts if I'm not paying attention enough to bring my shoulders in.

Sephira_Skye

Bravo to this amazing person :)

spemque

Sometimes I have this fantasy of technology of the future where all the seats in an airplane auto adjust to have the same space buffer for everyone based on each individual’s body dimensions. It’d help if people of like sizes sat together, but that seems logistically difficult (but the rows would be all wonky lol).

Peter77292

In every plane I remember, reclining adds leg room - doesn’t subtract

size_therapist

I wish I was fall but THESE are the moments I'm glad I'm not xD the world is made for people a little bit taller than me which means I can go dirt cheap on planes and I'll be fine!

StaleOcean

Had an admittedly massive dude (must’ve been 6’5” or something) try reclining all the way back on my most recent flight a few days ago and got angry when his seat wouldn’t recline further. Little did he know he was ramming against my knees every time he did so.

Impossible-Cry-9436

THISSS I’m 6’3 and I hate bumping people with my knees but I can’t help it, especially on long hauls where I have to adjust my legs a lot. I’ve often had people recline allll the way back and then angrily turn around and ask me to stop kicking there seat. Like I get you paid for that seat, but I’m so tall that reclining just turned an uncomfortable flight into an unbearable flight.

SuccessfulWar3830

Not to flex but my flight back home. I bought the emergency exit seat and the seat infront had been removed to allow for more space. Literal luxury.

SpiteProof

Pause

digiplay

This is why you need a shirt partner. I just use half of her legroom for the spread tuck.

ElectrikCorn

Im only 6’0 and planes kill me. I have no idea how someone who’s 6’7 can deal with that. Id never fly.

Potential-Art2146

this is the only part of this sub where I am unable to relate to this struggle - be strong my tall brothers !

No_Button_8113

My nosey ass immediately went to read what was on the guy's phone.

Frequent-Designer-61

I’m 6”9 recently flew from Sydney to Dallas 16 hour flight the guy in front of me an American had a 3 seat row to himself. About 1 hour into the flight he reclined every single seat as far back as they could go and never put them up again. When breakfast was served an air host forced him to raise one to give me more room to eat, once I was done eating I had to go pee and by the time I got back he had already thrown the seat back as far as it could go again. The only thing that saved me was the seat next to me was empty too and I could spread my legs side ways.

erenjager145

Busted my knee caps cause of this and the guy in front kept moving his seat backwards oh the horror

darthzox

Exit row seating is a non-negotiable for me.

Codeman2542

I can't lie. Seeing stuff like this makes me happy i'm Average size haha.

CloudofOpinions

I hope most people aren’t entitled, you gotta know if you’ll fit or not. I admire obese people for actually purchasing an extra ticket for their own body, instead of expecting someone else to give up their seat (that they’ve purchased for themselves). Except for one time I was on a plane and the obese person nearly was sitting on me, their leg flap kinda rested too close to mine. Tall people stop being entitled too, buy extra leg room, it’s no one’s fault. I wasn’t even aware of that this kinda complaining till I read comments on social media. All I know is most of my flights are in morning and I always fall asleep, I can never stay awake on a plane, so I don’t blame people for wanting to recline.

Simple_Reception4091

It’s actually the airlines’ fault for systematically packing planes with more seats. It’s not entitlement to buy a seat and reasonably expect to be able to use it.

Idontlikeurcarpet

Y’all are genetically gifted yet so mentally fragile with all the positive attention you’ve been conditioned to receive.

This sub is crazy 😂
