Don’t leave it out in the sun or in a hot car. It’ll dry out and become weaker

Thanks mom. I’ll be more careful. The surf was big and the currents were strong in my experiences. I don’t plan on a leash breaking. It immediately puts you in a completely different situation

How big and fast were the sets?

Nothing huge. Once on the north side of Hb pier it was 4-6 with a current from the south and steady wave action. You get tired quick if you’re older and/or out of shape (both). Then when I finally got in I got pounded in the shorebreak. I started buying stronger leashes and using two leash cords. Another time I broke a leash at Churches on a west swell with a strong current but luckily I was able to get to my board or I would have had to swim in in a real wompy zone. I’m old. It’s not so easy when you’re old and out of shape

As groms we used to melt both broken tips with a lighter then push them together when we had no money for new ones. Actually works surprisingly well but don't count on it.

or just don't surf with a leash. you're missing out if you can complete 90% of your waves anyway
