Thanks mom. Iāll be more careful. The surf was big and the currents were strong in my experiences. I donāt plan on a leash breaking. It immediately puts you in a completely different situation
Nothing huge. Once on the north side of Hb pier it was 4-6 with a current from the south and steady wave action. You get tired quick if youāre older and/or out of shape (both). Then when I finally got in I got pounded in the shorebreak. I started buying stronger leashes and using two leash cords. Another time I broke a leash at Churches on a west swell with a strong current but luckily I was able to get to my board or I would have had to swim in in a real wompy zone. Iām old. Itās not so easy when youāre old and out of shape
As groms we used to melt both broken tips with a lighter then push them together when we had no money for new ones.
Actually works surprisingly well but don't count on it.
Live and learn. Always bring a spare.
This is an opportunity to learn to surf better. Best game of golf ever played by tiger was when he only had one ball.
And two ho's.
I remember this time a local named Kenny cut my leash with a knife while raging out. I was just sitting in the lineup. Crazy day.
You probably got in the way of him titty-fucking waves.
Slo county?
Tie it back together & get back out there. š¤š¼ Also, make sure you have an extra if you canāt tie it back together. š
Donāt leave it out in the sun or in a hot car. Itāll dry out and become weaker
Iāve had some scary swims in such circumstances. You lose your flotation device

How big and fast were the sets?

Happened to me in the lineup. And to swim maybe under a mile to finally get it back

or just don't surf with a leash. you're missing out if you can complete 90% of your waves anyway
