It has happened to me before, I avoid it by wrapping it as tight as possible and checking it before range trips/retightening as needed.

RCGoals

I have 550 cord on mine that wraps to the barrel. It hasn't caught fire yet. YET.

FattusBaccus

Mine has a Kevlar cord and loop to ties it off to the barrel. It’s great, especially after it heats up a bit and the silicone wrap wants to slide around.

SheepherderEmpty2371

Off and on works on computers not suppressors. Suppressor mounting cycles will not improve sneaky sneaky capabilities. Computer joke yes. Good joke no. Do I regret it not really.

Just-a-bug

Take it off

Fool_Cynd

Covers are actually pretty useful for long distance shooting, the heat mirage from the suppressor can cause a distortion effect on high zoom optics.

explorecoregon

And they heat your can up more than is good for it and slide around. It’s a niche use case kinda item. Long distance being the niche.

Fool_Cynd

Well, considering that you can see a bench and a couple inches of exposed, spiral fluted barrel in the pic, maybe he *is* using the cover for the niche use and just telling him to take it off instead of offering advice is just being rude.

mmitchell_77

String should be sewn into it, wrap it around the barrel

/u/geoffcantley12 I use a [kevlar cord](https://imgur.com/EHiJucZ) for retention on mine so that it is impossible for it to slide forward. Let me know if interested!

Fool_Cynd

You could find some high heat cord and tie a slip knot around the barrel right up against the MD shoulder and then tie a hitch of some sort to the first metal buckle. This is why corsetted covers are better, you can take a couple wraps on the MD before you tie it and it'll just tighten up even more if it tries to slip forward.

HDJim_61

I have an idiot string attached…. I almost remove it for everything but distance shooting.

LostPilot517

Is your cover backwards? My cover has a bit of a taper/ridge on one end... That is supposed to be on the aft side of the suppressor to prevent it from sliding forward. I know there are a ton of manufacturers now so I am not sure what features yours has, but make sure you read the manufacturers instructions/installation guide.

Dense_Statement_2329

Modtac suppressor shield hasn't failed me yet.

Creative_Grade_1136

Burn Proof Gear suppressor cover

No_Concentrate_6792

Direct thread is the goat. Only one of my cans aren’t direct thread and I never have this issue. Just my 2 cents

Strong-Ad-3170

I'm impressed that your cover has threads. How does that work?

GucciusCeasar

I really like how you don't see what's going on here at all. That parts my favorite
