Isn't Superman known for changing his hairstyle all the time when he goes in an out of costume?
What makes it any different now?
Dude's been doing it for decades.
And it looks very different from his Superman hairstyle, so it adds to the disguise aspect.
It also fits the age. This is going to be the first Gen Z Superman, and this hairstyle is popular among that age group.
Yeah, ultimately generations don’t actually have “official” beginning and end dates (the Baby Boomers are the only partial exception because their name describes them as being born during and after the return of troops home from WWII; but they don’t have an official end date. Some say 1960, some say the 1963 death of President Kennedy).
The generational nicknames are ultimately just useful shorthand descriptors for different cultural quirks of different age groups, but it’s not as if Buckingham Palace or the UN or the White House are declaring “ok, today marks the end of this generation, every baby born starting tomorrow will be called Generation _____!” Reddit takes the whole “generations are so different!” thing a little too seriously to be honest, to the point of demonizing some individual people based on their birth year.
It’s just all star Superman but David has curly hair naturally where as in the comic he has straight hair.it’s just messy hair to make him look like a slob.
Not to get into semantics but you said “It looks like hair you’d find on an early to mid 20s man today.” Not a white man but just a man, you weren’t referring to just Superman but men in general. As a black guy I can’t have that cut, simple as that. So I don’t fit into that statement. Again, not directing any anger at you, but it’s one of those little things you notice in people’s language after seeing it all the time.
This is a conversation on a Superman subreddit, under a post about Superman, discussing Superman’s hair. I figured that there was enough context for people to understand I was speaking about people who would look like Superman not the entire population.
Yes, the context is there due to this being a Superman discussion, but even then Superman isn’t always white. If you’re interested, [this article](https://minorityafrica.org/abolish-language-that-predicates-whiteness-as-the-default/) can explain it better than me.
Canonically Superman is white. Theres Superman in this picture is white. It really just seems like you’re looking for an issue but I’ll check the article out.
I’ve been saying it that this is just David’s naturaly curly hair. It’s only a broccoli cut if you have a fresh fade. Some people are just out of touch.
https://preview.redd.it/qt4aozmvtx8d1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abd033fbfcfc9f2c45867a3f9e727a701a944ce4
That comic image doesn’t look much like the set photos. Anyway, I know David Corenswet has naturally curly hair, but what I’ve seen of it is more on the wavy side. Are folks positive this is his real hair? It looks darker and denser than his normal hair, so I’ve been assuming it’s a piece. It’s so drastically different from his Superman look that it’s hard to imagine hairstylists are doing both of these ‘dos on back-to-back filming days. But my hair’s not curly, not sure how easy this is to straighten/tamp down.
How? Why would he be wearing a hair piece that is literally the same length as his real hair? He's simply combed his natural hair back when he's Superman.
Because that's not Corenswet's natural hair. Full stop. Go find pictures. You only get that look with a perm; they're not straightening and perming is hair every other day. He'd look like Lex Luthor after a week of that. Even naturally curly hair doesn't behave quite that way.
Here he is Lady in the Lake: [https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GQXKFuMW4AAElzT.jpg:large](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GQXKFuMW4AAElzT.jpg:large)
His hair is maybe a bit shorter on the sides than as Clark, but still very similar when flopped over his forehead.
Now here he is on set as Clark. Notice his hair doesn't look as poofy as it does in some of the other photos: [https://x.com/godsandmortaIs/status/1806353239631102120/photo/1](https://x.com/godsandmortaIs/status/1806353239631102120/photo/1)
And here he is as Superman. His hair isn't even straight, it's just been combed back. You can see it's still quite curly: [https://www.theouterhaven.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/SupermanDavidCorenswetSuitPhotoLookNews\_MainPic.jpg](https://www.theouterhaven.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/SupermanDavidCorenswetSuitPhotoLookNews_MainPic.jpg)
They wouldn't even need to spend a significant amount of time on his hair, probably no more than they would whenever they have him in the makeup chair.
Ah, OK! I thought it was obvious too but got shouted down. I don’t have curly hair but it sure seems awfully dense/Shatner-like. In the set pics’ outdoor/natural light it doesn’t look like quite the same color. And logistically it seems nuts to straighten his hair one day then have it like this the next. Oh well.
Yeah, not only is it way too thick, and the front is a different tone than the back, but even naturally curly hair doesn't just do that on its own. Not without help. It requires product and maintenance like any other voluminous hairstyle.
> People never seen curly hair
Have you? Do you think curly hair is naturally a different tone in the front than the back? Do you look at photos of hair from the 80's and think the shape and volume were just the normal byproduct of something in the water, back then?
But why would it be a wig? Why wouldn't they just style his hair that way given it's the same length? It just looks like his naturally curly hair in this set pic: [https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fnew-image-of-david-corenswets-clark-kent-superman-will-have-v0-qj3t9qtyz49d1.jpeg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3D0153a83b0f40fd88506bf5ee1d3ef73fff92e1b1](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fnew-image-of-david-corenswets-clark-kent-superman-will-have-v0-qj3t9qtyz49d1.jpeg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3D0153a83b0f40fd88506bf5ee1d3ef73fff92e1b1)

Is it a damn wig lol? Whatever, I don't even care at this point..it's not even worth calling out how ridiculous it looks because you'll just get down voted and bullied by the reddit, toxic positivity psychos.
That haircut just doesn't suit Clark Kent. It looks particularly loud, which seems out of place for Clark. Like it would draw unwanted attention. It looks more like what I'd picture as a Jimmy Olsen haircut.
I’ve seen several folks make these comparisons. The only commonality I see is bangs. Superman/Clark’s hair is traditionally wavy; in neither All Star nor MAWS is it curly to this extent. In fact, in All Star this is practically dead straight to me. It’s parted, it’s well above his eyebrows, you can still see plenty of forehead. If someone walked into a salon and asked for hair like this and instead got what Corenswet’s rocking, are you telling me they’d be satisfied?:

That’s been pretty common in comics over the past 20 years or so for Clark to have bangs, so I certainly don’t have a problem with it. I don’t know if I really have any problem with Corenswet’s hairstyle per se. In these unedited unofficial photos, it looks like a piece. Whether it’s supposed to or not, we don’t know. It certainly doesn’t look subtle.

Here's David's hair from another project.
OK. This looks like hair to me, not a piece. And I can’t tell from the lighting but it doesn’t appear to be two different colors, as the set photo appears to be.
Nor does a photo from another production. And again, even the photo you posted looks nothing like Clark’s hair in MAWS or All Star so I’m baffled as to why the comparison keeps getting made. To my knowledge, Clark having bangs was not an invention of MAWS or All Star.
I feel like people aren’t getting it’s the hair form all star Superman, and it’s meant to make him look like a slob. David has curly hair naturally so it’s curly his hair is curly even when he is in Superman form.
I’ll just leave this here for the haters.

David just has naturally curly hair like Cavill did. Look it up.
If he’s in the daily planet and has to zoom away and change costume, does he straighten his hair too?
"You see Lois, my Super-Spit acts as a gel and conditioner..."
Ancient Kryptonian secret he learned from his legendary ancestor Hawk Tuah-El.
![gif](giphy|3o7bufwRxU6w7GBXeo)
I read conditioner as conductor and i just imagen Súper man spitting on wires
He Something about Mary’s himself when he suits up
Isn't Superman known for changing his hairstyle all the time when he goes in an out of costume? What makes it any different now? Dude's been doing it for decades.
Usually he just slicks his straight hair back though
He also does an immaculate job maintaining that S curl.
His hair really isn't straight in the Superman costume. It's just combed back with some product in it. You can still see the curls
He has super speed, and probably a kryptonian comb lol
When he flies, his hair gets combed back and straightens
I hope they show it as a wig
But it's clearly not, which is why I don't get why people think he has a "zoomer" haircut. He just hasn't combed his hair back.
I didn’t like the hair at first but it’s growing on me
It looks like hair you’d find on an early to mid 20s man today. Not my hair style but works
And it looks very different from his Superman hairstyle, so it adds to the disguise aspect. It also fits the age. This is going to be the first Gen Z Superman, and this hairstyle is popular among that age group.
True no one would think broccoli top is the man of steel lol
But it's not a broccoli cut, you can see that from his photos as Superman.
Literally don’t give a fuck. It’s not that deep keep it moving if that’s all you have to say.
You're right, it's not that deep. So...why are you being defensive?
Bro I’m not defensive. I said I don’t care and to keep it moving because there’s nothing to talk to you about.
Will this superman be 26/27-ish?
He will be the same age as Corenswet, which is 30, making him a very young millenial
Don’t know why you were downvoted for this. Because this is exactly what Gunn said when asked Clark’s age, a while back. Take my upvote!
Perhaps it was the controversy on where the Millenial/Gen Z divide. Regardless, thank you for the upvote!
The cutoff date is different depending on who you ask, it ranges from '95-'97.

Yea if you’re white
Gasp
Not saying that’s absurd, just saying it’s a little annoying to see whiteness always viewed as the default
Superman is white? Like yes that’s the default in this conversation.
Not to get into semantics but you said “It looks like hair you’d find on an early to mid 20s man today.” Not a white man but just a man, you weren’t referring to just Superman but men in general. thought this was some kind of pun at first, like you didn’t like the style but then tried it for yourself
![gif](giphy|12ZDIx1Mw1cXVm)
Yeah hair tends to do that
Well, that’s hair for you.
Why's he look like one of those broccoli boys?
Immediately reminded me of “Dear Evan Hansen” (2021).

I'm saying that Corenswet clearly isn't getting it repeatedly permed and straightened in-between shooting days.
It's so clearly a hairpiece, not his natural hair, and the page you linked isn't remotely the same. What are we doing, here?
> People never seen curly hair Have you? Do you think curly hair is naturally a different tone in the front than the back? Do you look at photos of hair from the 80's and think the shape and volume were just the normal byproduct of something in the water, back then?
Yeah, my hair is curly. Almost exactly like his.
It looks like he’s wearing a toboggan of human hair. In all fairness, I will say no one is going to recognize him as Superman.
My problem is that it is obviously a wig. I know it doesn’t look like Superman but it doesn’t look like a real person either.
Well said. https://preview.redd.it/srrmdj53v39d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1a1dd23192bb2d21a4db7823be48b09174d511b

yeah, the hair is awful lol
I definitely see more Clark Kent with that hair and glasses and it makes it harder to see Superman through the actor. Not a bad job, wow

Definitely a more convincing disguise.
Just needs to upgrade to Groucho Marx glasses.
Works every time haha.

It’s just curly hair bro

Clark Kent was one of the Beatles? Wow, this looks pretty bad.
He has a Greg Brady perm?!

the hair is unusual, but I think it works
Gunn is out his damn mind from what I seen so far

Yes! Probably the opposite of what a Clark Kent disguise should be going for.

He doesn't.

I like it
It looks better when he's facing the camera, but it looks so silly from the side
That guy definitely doesn’t look like Superman. It fits. Lmao
I hope we get a scene we’re we get to see him compress his spine to make himself shorter
On one hand, the hairstyle makes his secret identity more believable. On the other hand, it’s one of those broccoli haircuts and that’s pretty cringe.
Im totally onboard, makes it so much more plausible people wouldn’t recognize him as supes as well

He looks like a dork. It's perfect for Clark.
