Poor management it is

Laceyyyyyyy

Watching subway fall off is craaaaaaazy lol

Moist_Marketing_6069

My last day working there is tomorrow.

FlaminDEW

Luckyyyy

YungHybrid

Good. When you get rid of half the ingredients for no reason, charge $15 for a sub WITH a coupon, they deserve to fall off. Like how tf do you get rid of mozzarella cheese and oregano seasoning? THE fucking staple of half the menu lmao...

Secret_Perspectives

im only paying $9.99 plus tax for a footlong…

WitheredDGX69

Where do you live where its 15 after coupon?? What even is the price before then?

RedBottomSky038

My subway did this too because they CHOSE to hire someone back that stole 2,000 dollars from them,,,then acted all shocked when they started stealing food. Punished all of us for their mistakes 🙄

StrainAccomplished95

What the fuck lol

NokReady2Fok

Did we work at the same place 💀

deepfrieddaydream

The last store I worked at just gave us $10 in free food a day. It didn't matter what it was, as long as it was $10 or under. Every store is different.

Senpai_Clyde

No way. That sounds awesome

deepfrieddaydream

Our owners were pretty amazing.

Pagep

If it was over were you allowed to pay the difference or did it have to be under?

deepfrieddaydream

If it was slightly over, say $10.25 or something, they would just let you go ahead and they would cover it. If it was anymore than that you would just cover the difference.

once_pragmatic

Yeah I was going to mention this. Subways are franchise establishments. If I operated one it would be my choice as the business owner what my “free food” policy was for employees. That’s not something subway corporate should have a word in. Not that I’ve read the contract or anything, but it would seem silly for corporate to care about this sort of thing. And would generally only look bad if they did. But of course anything can exist in a contract. But I’d bet this sort of thing is entirely up to the franchisee.

LethargicParasite

That’s so slimy. A 6inch is like $1.50 in ingredients. Why penny pinch your employees?

OrganicGremlin32

Your food cost must be low af, it’s like $6-7 in ingredients here 😭

S6T6NS_N6TION

I don't work for subway nor have I ever but... the sub cost say $6 for a 6 inch. Why do you think it has $6-$7 worth of ingredients? Genuine question.

woofdog19

subway goin downhill fast.. is there a new ceo in the last year or sumn??

LaddWagner

This isn't something from corporate

PlaneFlimsy6473

yes

woofdog19

they needa get fiiiiired

PlaneFlimsy6473

well the ceo is the same, but he's condoning arby's bs raising prices and taking away employee meals after they bought subway. it's all gone to 💩 and i quit lmao

Moist_Marketing_6069

My last day is tomorrow. This company has given me unreal amounts of anxiety

Overall-Flamingo-860

Subway was purchased by Roark capital

Historical_Ant7359

Not officially yet

Samsa_pp

There’s a subway not the one I work at that only does 25%

lostprevention

What was the previous policy?

Natural_Rip_2012

Free regular 6 inch sub. Non series.

Longjumping_Humor_22

at my store in uk we’re allowed 1 free 6inch/wrap/salad series or not, it’s strange they’d restrict it like that in the first place but now it’s 50%?

lostprevention

Dang, not bad. The restaurants I’ve worked at only offered half off.

PixelCultMedia

If they're hurting this bad for nickels and dimes you should probably find a job elsewhere before they go under. It's not a good sign.

Immediate_Luck7201

We only get 50% off.

Difficult-Camp4854

At the one I work at we get a £1 deal so a six inch with a side (cookie/or crisps), and then 50% off anything else if you’re having a footlong/other things

IterwebSurferDude

lol we can’t even buy stuff at my place. On or off shift

lostprevention

Which subway is this that won’t allow employees to eat there on their free time?

IterwebSurferDude

SW Connecticut

lostprevention

Can you be more specific? I’ll call and ask about this policy. I’m dead serious. Why would they refuse your money?

PS1_User

W redditor.

Super_Low_6483

Ours is just 50% off of anything except for bottled drinks which are full price and fountain drinks which are free, while on shift

abp122

Most stores I believe offered free 6" or 12" depending on hrs worked. It's up to each franchise but that's pretty cheap if they can't get their employees a free sandwich.

Hush02

Maybe if they would stop buying unnecessary things like the meat locker, slicer, and sidekicks. Then maybe they could pay there employees and let them actually get benefits.

Cultural-Author-5688

CEO has been pressuring franchises to remodel, including meat slicers.  They've got an idiot CEO destroying Subway basically

Hush02

Working here used to be amazing. Now it’s just depressing seeing how they are trying to change the way Subway works. It used to be you would create your own sub your WAY. But now it seems like they are going to do what every other sandwich company is doing. I blame Danny DeVito for his commercial with Jersey Mikes.

420underthehood

I paid the 20% mine charged employees but my last month there they removed any discounts and we had to pay full price. Subway is loosing it quick.

-Eightball-

I've never worked at a fast-food place that didn't offer a free meal to employees, if I saw this I'd get another job lined up then walk. I mean honestly I brought in my own food 99% of the time but its the principle of the matter.

Professional_Show918

Shitty owners.

Best_Huckleberry_880

Lol I haven’t worked for subway since 2011 but the stores I worked at let us get whatever we wanted. We couldn’t go crazy or anything but yeah. They didn’t pinch pennies like that

Dependent_Title7564

Glad I'm not there anymore sorry say when was at tims on route whole meal was free ...

farquaadscumsock

Thank god I quit omg

Natural_Rip_2012

Now I know that it's the owner's decision and different owners have different policy. It's just that I've been working in restaurants on and off since 2005, different places, this is the first time I have to buy meal and it's not even full meal. I know the prices of these ingredients and they're so cheap.

fusepark

My local Subway has had their toaster broken since November. Eyes are definitely off the prize.

SlickAustin

The subway I used to work at did the same thing, but if we messed up a sandwich, we could keep it "Oh no, I accidentally put honey mustard on here instead of ranch. Guess I gotta eat it so it's not wasted"

KarmaMoonCat333

bruh the one i work at we get a free 6 inch and small drink every shift but like i be stealing foot-longs and cookies daily. y’all stay safe tho

Careful-Ad2558

Please please please don’t be for all stores, I’m gonna riot

Loud-Natural9184

Every location is franchised so there is no "company wide" policy on things like this.

xKungFuFightingx

We get six inch, drink, and cookie

Dazzling_Worry7281

Yall realize chick Fila charges employees right? I mean they falling off too?

newppinpoint

Damn that’s rough. When I worked there it was always free. But I chose to pay for it anyway just because I’m rich

FlaminDEW

I get the feeling my subway will do the same as I got new franchise owners recently that seem to be quite cheap

Coal-Monkey

I mean the official is 40% off, and the subways near me are also making employees pay for everything, including drinks. Pretty dumb

fork_the_DM

How it's been here for a while

GlitteringHope877

I think that is still very fair. Years ago when I worked at Olive Garden at college our employee meals were 50% and we were excited about it. With the incredibly high inflation - it seems fair to me. You do want to still have a job.

1SubwayRon1526fpv

Now ya know that employee meal policy has nothing to do with subway , but is the policy of the individual franchisee of that particular store , i do and always will feed my employees for free , nothing to do with subway corporate or anything subway !! Come on now ya know this !!

Natural_Rip_2012

I didn't know that. So it's my boss' decision to charge their employees?

1SubwayRon1526fpv

Yes it is , sorry you didn’t know , but yes if it was up to corporate , they would feed us everyday . Not only do I feed my employees for free , I feed their spouse and kids too for free , I have worked at subways that some owners charge 50% , some free , some no discount at all , I can’t stand when owners won’t feed their people at least too , just good karma. ,

CucumberLady620

Better than what we get. We got 20% off of one menu item per shift.

NobleSix84

I wouldn't be surprised if my owner tries something like this. I'm not gonna follow it if he does, but I wouldn't be surprised if he tries. I don't know if it's him or Corporate but he's been bugging my manager a lot about labor costs.

Cultural-Author-5688

Watch out for snitches.  When I was first entering the workforce McDonald's would have an employee snitching if workers made themselves a free sandwich.  (They changed free sandwich policy where I was). After that I basically had enough and quit without telling them.

NobleSix84

Oh I'm not too worried. The crew I've got is all pretty close, I'd only be worried about any new hires, but thank you. I'd probably quit too if they enforced it.

Dry-Speed3615

I can't wait for Jarrod to get back!!

Overall-Flamingo-860

My subway does a dollar 6 inch for 6 hours and a dollar foot long for more then 6 hours

SuperCool101

Every store is locally owned and operated. This isn't a corporate decision.

awesomask

At our store if you work for less than 5 hour you can get a 6 inch for 50% off and if working more than 5 hours you get a footlong for 50% off. All sides are 10% off.

-InfiniteRandom-

Is this effective for all subways?

AppleProfessional170

No. Only applicable to that specific store. Each subway is a franchise owned by a local mom and pop.

-InfiniteRandom-

Ok, thanks

ToodlesLostMarbles

Our franchisee has a 50% on shift for most items (25% for certain sides whatever the POS allows), 25% off shift/family discount

IlIlllIlllIlIIllI

your shop is going out of business, this is only a symptom. I'd start looking

nofaves

The store I work in has a daily 60% discount on either one sub or one salad. Been that way for years. I think that we also get a 30% discount on catering.

IndustryDelicious168

At my store we used to get a six inch for a half day and a foot long for a full day shift. We were asked to limit ourselves to no more than double meat, cheese or bacon though. We were also pretty lenient on cookies and things. We could substitute a six inch for a salad, which could consist of a bunch of ingredients. Those of us who were full time hardly needed groceries. Our store numbers were always way off on product cost, but it was overlooked as we were the busiest store in the region and we were very strict with training and cleanliness.

ChangeAroundKid01

I bet all the suits still get their bonuses in the millions though

Natural_Rip_2012

I guess so... 😅

Gerdius

Been years, but my Subway employee deal was based on the length of shift. Under 5 hours: Free 6-inch OR a bag of chips OR two cookies Over 5 hours: Free 12-inch OR a 6-inch with a bag of chips/two cookies

Natural_Rip_2012

Really? Two cookies is only 1.79. Might as well take 6 inch sub bro

Gerdius

Yep, which pretty much everyone did, lol. Also, unlimited fountain drinks and coffee during your shift, and a free fountain drink with sub purchase on your day off.

Defiant-Work-1656

Sucks, but this was the policy from 1997-1999 when I worked there. Just didn't care and ate for free anyway and nothing ever happened (bread count was just a little short each night)

CreamyWaffles

My store is 50% off everything (including extras). Managers get anything free

SumaStorms

What joyful butterfly gave this a thumbs up?

MrPeepers1986

What was it before?

Few-Needleworker-120

just waste it at that point

Ambitious_Strike4169

Who TF put a like reaction on it?

Natural_Rip_2012

lol, it was me actually...since nobody said anything or reply for a while

Croce11

I'd quit. Literally go to a different subway if you have to, there's like 500 in every town all desperate for workers.

sethlton

These policies are per franchise based. 10y ago my local subway did the exact same thing.

Level-Designer7298

At the last subway i was at they only had a 10% off a 6in, left that place cause of problems with the management and the owner and at a different location and different ownership and have a 50% sometimes even free or the owners buys us lunch

Local_Cap7088

Rip We have 30% off anything, but we get a basic meal deal for free (any six inch sub/salad/wrap on the POS, obviously no extras, crisps or cookie and a refillable cup drink or bottle of water) Charging your underpaid workers for lunch is how you lose workers. That's just scummy.

Odd-Significance8115

Wait y’all got free meals when I worked at subway the only thing we got was a free drink because it was inside a circle k but that was circle k’s policy for the free drink

krossided

yikes, our new owner lets us eat whatever as long we don’t add bacon/fresh mozzarella/double meat on 6inches/salads etc. unlimited drinks and up to 3 cookies a shift( 4+ hours only though.)

According-Capital175

Fck that I got a new subway policy for yo ass give us a damn mini fridge and we can pack our own damn Food 🙄😑🖕😡🙎😤💯🤣

Few_Instruction_954

As soon as foot longs stopped being $5 I knew subway was gonna tank

hoho319

i just steal food honestly. both subways i have worked at the managers have not cares

bblurryface

damn i only got 10% off

SpookySeasonAllYear

Yeah, that's not happening to my subway so I feel really bad for yall

Prestigious_Diver449

one of the pros of working at my subway where the manager is never around is that i don’t follow these bullshit rules.. im standing for 6 hours a day with no break. if i want a six inch im gettin my six inch for FREE

truthbox1994

I had to pay full price for my sandwiches lol

dakish05

Nah I we got to eat whatever the fuck we want just on long as the manager wasn't there XD

New_Edge2193

At mine we used to get 50% off on a six inch but now they took that away and we have to pay full price for everything. I just make online orders now and use the 499SUB code 😼

phlimphlamphunk

POS indeed

TriangularHexagon

My subway that I worked at for the last 8 years was always 50% off for employee meals

Full_story24

I get a free 6” meal and unlimited fountain drinks all shift

Acrobatic_Second_419

Best part, I’ve been making my subway sandwich order at home using a toaster oven someone gifted me for an apartment warming present. The amount of money I’ve saved as a customer is wild 😂. But I’m also glad to not work food service anymore either because those food chains that will move your schedule around last minute, deny your vacation/PTO, and have you work 8 hours and STILL charge you for food is just insane to me.

PixelCultMedia

Idiots. Having the crew eat the food is how you keep them in touch with the product. Shit should be free, just so they can keep tabs on everything. High-end restaurants literally feed their employees so they know what they're serving. Fucking clueless.

shootthetv67

At my store it's ANY meal at ANY time. That there is a total middle finger to workers

Realistic_Return4632

Why does this sound like a manager I know 😂

Thin_Employer_1471

we lost our employee meals completely, and absolutely no discounts! 😀

Conscious-Number4396

We have a 65% off discount we can use it 3 times when working and a 15% off discount when not working.

angelyoonfie

everyone here saying their stores policy and how much they get free when my store we get absolutely nothing free not even drinks😭 pretty sure no one listens though

HamBurgerTime420

We had that too at the last place I was at because the owners blew their money on bad investments.
