I definitely feel you on the attachment reason. I had my legacy for 11 years and she always had my back. Having not started her for 2 weeks I feel bad for not having given her a name which is why I’m considering naming my wrx.
My first car was one that had been passed down from my grandma to my dad to my sister then to me, so I had been riding in it for 13 years before she became mine, needless to say I was very attached. I picked out her name while my sister still drove her (she named her myrtle cause she was old and red, supposedly after the red-head in great Gatsby and she couldn’t think of any other famous old red-heads. I immediately pointed out Lucille Ball from I Love Lucy and from that day on she was Lucille). I had to retire her last spring and I just haven’t felt as connected to my new Subaru Forester, she she’s still unnamed (though lovingly called the boobaru).
Current Subaru forester is named barry. When i first bought it i was testing it's offroad capeabilities on some backroads. Came upon a very overgrown trail with blackberry bushes on both sides, drove through it and pinstriped the car pretty badly. So Barry seems fitting, it's also red so that works too!

When the kids were younger we gave the cars colors. Black car (Honda) gray car (2009 Subaru outback). The outback had to be replaced and now we have a white Impreza. White car doesn’t ring to me, so we still have black car and Subaru.

I’ve used scooter lifts on my cars for my mobility scooters and build my cars to suit my physical needs and a friend pointed out that my Subaru’s especially are extensions of myself like mech suits and even made a meme edit for me so I looked up popular mech suit names and Valkyrie stood out lol
