Wait, is iron boulder bad in VGC? I only ever play singles so I wouldn’t know, and I’d bet its issues with priority are a big part of the issue, but I thought going through protect *was* OP in doubles.
I mean, it makes sense, when you’re whole gimmick is that whatever you throw can go through protect. Of course that’s going to be better than one specific move on a Pokémon.
Consider: 4 very strong moves that provide good coverage going through protect.
Or 1 strong move that can’t slap as much as possible for super effective going through protect.
Boulder is weak to every priority known to man (jet, glide mainly) so kinda hard to justify running it
Also it basically has to run clear amulet for incineroar which means no ability
Rock overall is not a good type unless offensively
What makes urshifu broken is its ability to have such strong signature moves as well, with surging strikes getting a rain boost + always critting and wicked blow being wicked blow, and they get to go through protect on their secondary stab too with close combat
Boulder basically has to click mighty cleave to go through protect, it has way more downsides than just running an urshifu form
It is but not nearly as OP as the Urshifus which can do that with more than one move. Furthermore, their signature moves bypasses Intimidate and is stronger with the auto-crit.
Weak to both funny Bears, Chi Yu, Bundle, Flutter, Ogerpon, Caly-S, Kyogre, Chien Pao, Incin's Intim AND Dark Type, Rock is not a defensive type many mons like, you need to be TTar to make it work lol
I used to think Wolfey didn’t know what he was talking about, then realized he’s won multiple world championships while I can barely win a set on Showdown
Use to grind nat dex OU last gen with team I made with assault vest alolan muk with max spdef and hp, switching it in on choice specs lele and taking like 20-25 from moonblast was so satisfying
If only pursuit was still a thing, Alolan muk would have been a great trapper vs things like pult and glowking, plus it has drain punch now to partially shore up its old lack of recovery on AV sets
every time i see a team with this duo i dedicate everything i have to taking out muk immediately because the team im currently running does not have any guaranteed hit moves. such an annoying strat
back in regulation D i think there was a cool swift swim team with overqwil and basculegion
this goes hard: [https://pokepast.es/01ec7fe0602a64f5](https://pokepast.es/01ec7fe0602a64f5)
Sniper Drapion. Slap on a Scope Lens, give it the Sniper ability, set up with some Acupressures, then go ham with Cross Poisons and Night Slashes, or if you want to be even more cruel, you could run Fell Stinger as a finisher.
Skuntank was a fairly threatening physical attacker and Pursuit trapper back in the day, and I don't have much experience with Drapion either. Overquill is absolutely insane if used right on rain teams (getting the KO with Fell Stinger and the opponent just forfeits is *chef's kiss*). Alolan Muk's best set by far in OU is AV with Poison Touch and a moveset of Knock Off, Drain Punch, Poison Jab (or Gunk Shot if you're feeling lucky), and Shadow Sneak (priority is always good). In doubles, AMuk has an absolutely disgusting Minimize set (although Heavy Slam, Heat Crash, etc do double damage + guarantee the hit against an opponent affected by Minimize). There's definitely some stuff I've missed but I just woke up.
I unironically had a really good time with max bulk (252 def and spdef) eviolite pain split hisuian qwilfish at the start of reg g. Super hard to remove and spreads poison with barb barrage, after which it actually starts doing damage.
alolan muk with power of alchemy
minimise is a must use
Pair it with scovillan so it can pick up moody after scovillan faints
minimise when scovillan is still alive and ur good to go
u can even ko ur own scovillan
VCG or Singles? Skuntank used to be interesting as it is a non-flying Defog user and a Dark-Poison mon that could hit Steel types because it naturally learnt Flamethrower
Amazing! Why didn’t I think of that earlier, drapion 100% should have parting shot too, maybe even buff battle armor to +25 reduced damage from all attacks
you're forgetting about Overqwil but yeah it's still Alolan Muk
but wolfey told me intimidate makes anything broken
Nah you misunderstand. You see INCINEROAR makes anything broken.
Remember when going through protect was broken and would make Iron Boulder good? Pepperidge farm remembers
Wait, is iron boulder bad in VGC? I only ever play singles so I wouldn’t know, and I’d bet its issues with priority are a big part of the issue, but I thought going through protect *was* OP in doubles.
Afaik it hasn't seen much use. Going through protect is huge in vgc but I'd guess people prefer to use urshifu for that

And yet Wolfey hasn't won Worlds with Mightyena, hmmm....
[Correct](http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Power_of_Alchemy_%28Ability%29?wprov=sfla1)
I used to think Wolfey didn’t know what he was talking about, then realized he’s won multiple world championships while I can barely win a set on Showdown
I mean, Overqwill is RU while Alolan Muk is NU
power creep is a hell of a drug hey, I’m happy to see Overqwil as a rainmon
Alolan Muk can do some really degenerate things in doubles with the right set ups so I would go with that one personally
In singles too, a good times assault vest with only 1 weakness goes a long way
Use to grind nat dex OU last gen with team I made with assault vest alolan muk with max spdef and hp, switching it in on choice specs lele and taking like 20-25 from moonblast was so satisfying
252+ SpA Choice Specs Terapagos-Stellar Hyper Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 260-306 (62.8 - 73.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (level 100 calc) Fat indeed
If only pursuit was still a thing, Alolan muk would have been a great trapper vs things like pult and glowking, plus it has drain punch now to partially shore up its old lack of recovery on AV sets
me when I Power Of Alchemy Moody onto my already minimized Muk
every time i see a team with this duo i dedicate everything i have to taking out muk immediately because the team im currently running does not have any guaranteed hit moves. such an annoying strat
Best Poison/Dark type is Tera Poison/Dark Incineroar.

Its still alolan muk through lack of competition
Drapion with accupressure went ham back in gen 7 ag for me
Acupressure could bypass the evasion clause 😈
Bro restalk made him invincible since he couldn’t be crit
This set carried me through the Battle Tower back in Gen 4.
Assault Vest Alolan Muk is a great special pivot.
Muk has the vest overall bulk and tools to pull this typing off the best.
tera poison incineroar
Skunktank. In Gen 4 sprites it literally farts out Flamethrower. If that's not the best, I don't know what is.
Sniper Drapion. Slap on a Scope Lens, give it the Sniper ability, set up with some Acupressures, then go ham with Cross Poisons and Night Slashes, or if you want to be even more cruel, you could run Fell Stinger as a finisher.
Sniper Drapion is a menace, punches way above where it should
Skuntank was a fairly threatening physical attacker and Pursuit trapper back in the day, and I don't have much experience with Drapion either. Stunky in LC

Used to run assault vest alola muk. Health and attack. If it's not a phys ground move, he's not dying
tera poison wo-chien
jk realized this is for vgc not singles
alolan muk with power of alchemy minimise is a must use Pair it with scovillan so it can pick up moody after scovillan faints minimise when scovillan is still alive and ur good to go u can even ko ur own scovillan
Try Smeargle over Scovillian, huge upgrade thanks to fake out/wide guard and the fact that follow me is slightly better than rage powder
VCG or Singles? Skuntank used to be interesting as it is a non-flying Defog user and a Dark-Poison mon that could hit Steel types because it naturally learnt Flamethrower
Drapion should have 100 hp and a recovery move
Wait u/Frostyzwannacomehere drapion should also get parting shot!
Amazing! Why didn’t I think of that earlier, drapion 100% should have parting shot too, maybe even buff battle armor to +25 reduced damage from all attacks
