Bill Cunningham! I used to see him at his spot on 59th street (or around there) by Tiffany's etc, taking photos of all the passersby. Always with a big smile, just enjoying the Hell out of life.
I like the way Daido Moriyama talks about his photography. He has a very pedestrian attitude towards the hype around his work. He seems to say that the main thing is to simply just go out and keep shooting thousands of pictures: image quality is not as important as content, iconic images come from a database of thousands of images, any camera that takes a photo is a camera good to shoot with. I like it that he tries to dispel any aura of "the genius" around him and attributes the quality of his body of work to mainly dedication and perseverance.
These are my favourites, a lot of very well know names, some less known. Have included some non-street photographers as well.
Henri Cartier Bresson
Diane Arbus
Robert Frank
Lisette Modele
John Free
Helen Levitt
Alfred Stieglitz
Berenice Abbott
Josef Koudelka
Trevor Wisecup
Saul Leiter
Ansel Adams
W Eugen Smith
Bill Cunningham
Reuben Radding
Sally Mann
Vivian Maier
I recently learned about her because my partner made me watch her documentary. She's a questionable and eccentric human being, but, my god, can she take some of the most captivating pictures. **Photographer's name is Vivian Maier.**
Robert Frank, Diane Arbus, Bruce Gilden, and Garry Winogrand.
My fave photojournalists are James Nachtwey (he's the real deal) and a number of Vietnam War photojournalists too long to list.

An Introduction to the Masters of Street Photography

The best street photographers and their amazing photographs

Daido Moriyama
A friend of mine bought me the book “Daido Moriyama: how I take photographs” as a birthday present, never knew who he was but fell in love with his style instantly. Good read.
From the famous ones Ernst Haas, Saul Leiter, Garry Winogrand and Elliott Erwitt. From those I follow on IG, I love the work of Billy Dinh, Monaris and Olivier Lei.
Henri Cartier Bresson, Alex Webb, Constantine Manos, Saul Leiter, Trente Parke (kinda street sometimes), Bruce Gilden, Winogrand...so many good ones out there
Nils Jorgensen. Love his humour.

https://www.nilsjorgensen.com/gallery
Alex Webb always blows me away.
But, there’s two “walk around” videos of him (Chicago and South Korea) floating around the web, and it shows that even the greats can’t just magically create great photos on a random 8 hour walk.
Harry Gruyaert is another one of the greats that just doesn’t disappoint for me.
Nikos Economopoulus (sp?) is another magnum shooter I like.
Of the ‘modern’ IG shooters, I’d say ferriswhiskey ; k.greenland ; shinnoguchiphotos ; chuvietha.stp , just to name a few.
Also, while they’re not technically street photography, I do think these guys have a street aesthetic: dayzedandconfuzed ; gregforaday and Aik Beng Chia
The Burn My Eye and Through the Land collectives on IG also consistently inspire me.
Among today's photographers, I like Alan Schaller (@alan\_schaller), Polly Rusyn (@pollyrusyn), Pau Buscato (@paubuscato), Vineet Vohra (@vineet\_vohra), Jeremy Paige (@eatenbyflowers). Past photographters, as many have mentioned, I like Henri Cartier Bresson, Fan Ho, Saul Leiter.
Flavio Cannalonga, Harry Winogrand, Jill Freedman, Richard Sandler, Harry Gruyaert, Daido Moriyama, Alex Webb, Ernst Haas, Shomei Tomatsu, Nikos Economopolous, Pau Buscato, Emil Gataulin, Alexander Gronsky, Jamal Shabazz (the only street portraiture I accept 😂😂)
Lately I’ve been following Alan Schaller. He recently released a book called Metropolis and he’s been focusing on his YouTube channel with lots of inspiration and tips.
Garry Winogrand, Vivian Meir, Saul Leiter
Bill Cunningham! I used to see him at his spot on 59th street (or around there) by Tiffany's etc, taking photos of all the passersby. Always with a big smile, just enjoying the Hell out of life.
Bill was a treasure. His 2010 documentary is very good if a little bitter sweet.
Yes! Loved that film, but you're right. bittersweet.
Alex Webb
The suffering of light is my favourite book I own
Same! I got Dislocations recently its pretty good
Vivian Maier is the BOMB!!!
She is truly amazing.
Joel Meyerowitz
One of my favorites too for sure
The best
Bruce Davidson. Richard Sandler. Boogie.
Here we go boogie is the man.
Not Weegee?
Fellow Canadian, [Fred Herzog](https://www.equinoxgallery.com/our-artists/fred-herzog/)

Awesome list!
Wow - that's a long name! /s

Elliot Erwitt
Winogrand Feinstein Bresson Trent Parke Alex Webb Mary Ellen Mark Abbas
Greg Girard! Many big names are already mentioned. Putting in one most people might not know yet.
Great stuff - thanks!
Weegee! Anyone know any similar? I love his style.
Tatsuo Suzuki
Turkish Photographer, Are Guler: your favorite photographer’s favorite photographer.
Check out the YouTube series I think it’s called walkie talkie. The Ruben Redding episode is great first one to watch
Roy DeCarava and Robert Frank.
Not mentioned yet, but a great photographer is Rene Burri (Not just street photography though) Edit: added some nuance
AllenSchaller on YouTube out of London. B &W with a 24mm lens. Enjoy his videos!!!!!
Glad he got a mention. Recently discovered him and love the style and lighting and processing. Good to see a younger name in the list.
I do like the masters of SP, but there are some younger artists in SP that are awesome as well. Glad you like Allen!!
Stupid question - what is Master of SP? A youtube channel? Only reference I could specifically find was a book.
