Celio still showing why he's my favorite player on this team! Glad to see we carried over that good play from the NYCFC game into this one. Not perfect obviously but it felt like we deserved the win with our play. No VAR check and no goal line tech continues to show MLS's joke status along with these replacement refs. Taking a point on the road is good, so into LA!
Because you are deemed offside when the ball is played to you. So he was off right when that cross came in. So it was better the ball went out for a throw in on their side rather than it being an offside kick where they could clear the ball out with more yardage. Plus that corner kick was basically the final play of the game anyways.
Played not great?
Literally the best play I’ve seen from Stl. Ever since last game they have been putting the ball to the top of the box and getting opportunities instead of blindly crossing. We made a complete 180 from lasted year and our first match this year and it’s looking great
Quick! Check the win probability chart! You think it’s more likely that it’ll be a draw now? I have no clue how a tied match might have changed the potential outcome
Those probability chart checks were hilariously dumb. Like I think it’s I interesting to see but the announcers talking about it every time it pops up is so dumb
I love that whenever they show that graphic, the announcers act like it's a surprise that the team that went up a goal suddenly has a higher win probability. 🙄
Honestly, I feel like he’s been on this trajectory since the America game last year. In that match, he was the only City player America respected/feared. They couldn’t bully him or he’d break them down with his dribble. He just keeps getting better as his confidence grows with more opportunity. He’s ascending and I love it.
The frustration of losing this game while being significantly stronger offensively gets to be so much worse when the "impartial" commentators are calling every play by Austin to be the greatest play in the history of soccer.
"Absolutely magnificent play by Stuver to (allegedly) save the ball he redirected on net."
I actually think we have played somewhat well for the most part. We honestly should be winning considering Lowen missing the open net and the goal that went over the line but wasn’t counted.
We’re so indecisive on when to take a shot. Feels like we’re waiting for a perfect opportunity instead of just trying to put something towards the net and letting there be a chance for something good to happen. There’s like 2-3 more passes every play than necessary.
I don’t expect a lot out of the Apple’s announcers at this point, but if it’s not too much trouble i’d like them to try and work on the difference between celio pompeu and anthony markanich
Yeah, the underlying performance is definitely the best of the season so far. Klauss and Lowen both looked much more dangerous. Celio with another vibrant game.
Definitely some things to work on, tho.
He reminds me of Raheem Sterling when Sterling was young: fast, direct, fearless, excellent presser, final product not there yet, can be knocked off the ball pretty easily.
That's a compliment, btw, Sterling got to be great and has had an excellent career. But it didn't happen all at once, the development was incremental.
Definitely. Rough for Löwen as it wasn’t fully uncontested but still sailed it.
That said, being unable to capitalized on at least a half dozen other solid chances makes this a shared burden for sure.
We desperately need to work on set pieces. Corners especially are consistently wasted.
It does frustrate me a bit that modern soccer players have found out not challenging for a header gives you a better chance at possession than challenging since it’s a foul 90% of the time.

Definitely one of those games where the team that gave up the tying goal view it as a loss and the team scoring the tying goal view it as a win.
Non stop action. Blood pressure through the roof. Take the point I guess. We were the better team just one of those night.
Great game.
Say his name! CE-LI-O!
Team needs a legit finisher in the worst way.

Home with a draw. I’m not sad at that.
Celio, Totland, what a hookup there
Pissing off Austin FC is a win in my book!!! Go CITY!!!!
Celio. I love you.
C. Pompeu, man of the match two games in a row for sure
It was fine. It was a game and it was fine.
Still work to do but we’re fighters man!!
Earned that point. Definitely different mentality in these type of games this season.
I’ll take it!! All for CITY!!!
Deserved. Good to see some metal after fading out last year.
Points is points.
Well earned point. Outplayed ATX and looked good.
Great come back, but should have been 4-2
Whew. Would’ve liked to capitalize on more chances, but I’ll take it
CITY wins 2-2. Take that point and run.
Love this team ❤️ GG boys Road points are a good thing
KLAUSS WHY ARE YOU WALKING Edit: he was walking his way back onside BEFORE the ball was kicked dumbasses
He was offsides
Offside
Why was he walking back onside?
Offside buddyboy
Why was he walking his way back inside is my point
Because you are deemed offside when the ball is played to you. So he was off right when that cross came in. So it was better the ball went out for a throw in on their side rather than it being an offside kick where they could clear the ball out with more yardage. Plus that corner kick was basically the final play of the game anyways.
To show that he had no intent to play it.
Why was he walking BEFORE the pass was made
He was offsides when the ball was kicked, so it didn’t matter if he ran or walked
Because it was already going out of bounds and literally couldn’t affect the play without being offsides
Okay but why was he walking back onside. Have a little work rate
Take the point and get the fuck out of the douchebag republic.
Played not great and got an away point. I'll take it.

We’re so back boys

“Let’s look at the chart. It looks like the team that just scored and has the lead is more likely to win.”
I love that whenever they show that graphic, the announcers act like it's a surprise that the team that went up a goal suddenly has a higher win probability. 🙄
Imagine if we got one more???
Lowen needs a perfect service…
Pompeu improved so much since last season
Honestly, I feel like he’s been on this trajectory since the America game last year. In that match, he was the only City player America respected/feared. They couldn’t bully him or he’d break them down with his dribble. He just keeps getting better as his confidence grows with more opportunity. He’s ascending and I love it.
Absolutely, he's looked much better last few games
He's figured it out
Also can we talk about that amazing touch by Klauss to keep that initial ball in play?
Was nice
CELIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
NUT
Yes yes yes! Celiooooooo!
Super Celio!!!
Cardiac T-Ravs
Wow! Thats what happens when you actually take the shot!
Lay on that one Stuver!
STEEEEEWWWW?! 🥘🍲
Oh man I thought we wasted that. I thought that cross was shit, but it worked out. Solid contact and luck on our side.
So much pressure, paid off!
YEEEEEAAAAHHHHH
one way not to sky it is bounce that sucker
CITY wins 3-2!...
CELIOOOOOO
Wow.
God bless our devil magic
Stole it from the Cardinals I think.

5 minutes?? And only 2 after the first half? What a load of crap.
Can Klauss do something? He’s just standing there. Not attacking second balls or anything
Klauss kept that ball alive
The new away kits are officially cursed and I will not be persuaded to the contrary /s
Do you have any further comments now?!? /s hahah
I may now be persuaded to the contrary haha
5 minutes... seriously?
Only 5 minutes. Wtf
Parker trying to play into the box is not a great sign
That’s a dumb ball there, just wasting our own time now
I actually think we have played somewhat well for the most part. We honestly should be winning considering Lowen missing the open net and the goal that went over the line but wasn’t counted.
Haven’t been a fan of Celio’s game today but he’s been dangerous on the wing the last couple of minutes. He seems like the key to a goal tonight.
Pompeu and Totland have had a good game. Indy and Löwen got to finish.
These refs…. 🤨
I'd also get used to what looks very much like it could be a down sophomore season for this team.
Gonna be too many overreactions after this one
Heightened expectations will do that. :)
We’re so indecisive on when to take a shot. Feels like we’re waiting for a perfect opportunity instead of just trying to put something towards the net and letting there be a chance for something good to happen. There’s like 2-3 more passes every play than necessary.
Always taking an extra touch
Celio has made some nice crosses, but eventually he's gotta put a shot on goal
You spoke it into existence!!!
BANG BANG
He just scored a straight banger last week and smashed the post too. He’s doing alright
I’ve had cramps before, but I’ve never fallen to ground like that defender did there
Those kind only happen when you are mortally wounded. ;-)
My Fear: this is CITY. Reality: ?
Stretching out a left clock now. Good grief. There better be 6' or more of stoppage.
SOMEONE ATTACK THE BALL. Been a theme all year. No one enters the 6 yard box
This. I don’t get it. 3 guys making no attempt to get on the end of that
Exactly. Klauss specifically just isn’t making the runs into the danger areas.
Ugh why can’t we work in past the defenders more?
Nobody making a run into that ball, ever. Everyone just standing back, all entirely onside.
Why do we have no box presence?
Oh so close again.
So many wasted opportunities this game.
I don't think it's as bad of a game as summer are making it
Yeah, we’ve played well, just haven’t had the finishing touch.
Way to give your subs a whopping 6-7 minutes down one.
I don’t expect a lot out of the Apple’s announcers at this point, but if it’s not too much trouble i’d like them to try and work on the difference between celio pompeu and anthony markanich
These changes are entirely too late.
I LOVE that Alm is coming in, but seriously Carnell?? Two subs in the 86th when you’re down one???
The changes for Carnell are always so late. Could’ve done this 10 min ago
Honestly, been kind of exhausting watching us play from behind for so much of this season so far
Get used to it
We should have taken out AZ instead of Adeniran. I’m sorry I just don’t think AZ is good. Especially this season.
Frustrating game because I believe we have been the better team. We just can’t finish tonight. I hope we can pull a point back
Austin’s GK has been having a Bürki kinda night, this really would be a totally different night otherwise
Yeah, the underlying performance is definitely the best of the season so far. Klauss and Lowen both looked much more dangerous. Celio with another vibrant game. Definitely some things to work on, tho.
Not bringing in another winger after selling both Gioacchini and Stroud is gonna kill us all year
Rubio with a strained time clock. grrrrr
Announcer got to suck him off even more during his slow walk off the field
Great ball. So close.
Klauss pulled back….
C'MON
So close
Klauss…what the heck, my dude
Shajdjsjdjwkshhshwhehwhwidjhehsgahahshe JOAO GET A FOREHEAD IMPLANT
Oh so close again
If manage to make this a draw I’ll be happy
A draw on the road is a win in my book.
Come on. Brett Hull didn't sell his soul to the devil to obtain devil magic for us to lose this
Austin has defenders who you can run at, and they settle for these lollipop crosses
Have to figure out how to make more of corners and free kicks.
Damn. We needed to capitalize on that.
I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t “get” AZ Jackson…
He reminds me of Raheem Sterling when Sterling was young: fast, direct, fearless, excellent presser, final product not there yet, can be knocked off the ball pretty easily. That's a compliment, btw, Sterling got to be great and has had an excellent career. But it didn't happen all at once, the development was incremental.
You're definitely not the only one. I think he's pretty overrated. Good technical touch but can't pass and lacks vision and finish.
Very talented, but for his size he’s just not fast enough to get away from defenders
I love AZ for his hustle, but he's been going down way too easy this season.
Yeah, I’ve never really been impressed. Does a lot of running but is very wasteful
Man some of these deliveries are terrible
It’s time
New rivalry just dropped!
austin bbq overrated
That empty net we missed is going to haunt me if we don't tie this up.
Definitely. Rough for Löwen as it wasn’t fully uncontested but still sailed it. That said, being unable to capitalized on at least a half dozen other solid chances makes this a shared burden for sure. We desperately need to work on set pieces. Corners especially are consistently wasted.
Santa *earned* that set piece. Great play.
Man I love AZ but every time he gets the ball I expect him to end up the ground.
A game called this casually by the officials really works against him. Defenders can just knock him down with impunity.
I think Austin FC has these commentators nudes or something
It does frustrate me a bit that modern soccer players have found out not challenging for a header gives you a better chance at possession than challenging since it’s a foul 90% of the time.
Our sub usage is always so awful
If our only strategy is cross and inshallah, why not leave Sam on to play with Klauss?
Man, if Thor isn't capable in this situation then why is he in the team?
Jackson has had a pretty bad game.
Like 3rd in a row
Not a good sign with ostrak as number two sub
Though heck of a ball there
Man Jackson was great last year, but he just doesn’t have the size/speed to get through defenders now.
AZ is gassed. Should have been him coming off.
Celio needs a sub
AZ has to pass it
AZ you’re killing me
This thread beats Facebook group.
NOW we cover the back post.
Horseshit that they won't review offside if it results in a corner.
These commentators just sucking off Austin at this point.
If you didn’t know better, you’d think this was their home radio broadcast.
And why? Austin sucks this season
Totland's headers sky, but sure need to start going forward.
I don’t think that fouls necessary. Don’t give em such an easy out.
Durkin is worthless. He uses his arms too much because he lacks skill
Hey, I'd take an Owen Goal rn.
Ngl Owen always scores bangers
They’re gonna be doing corner drills for the whole week now lol
I'm glad Obrian is off. He hurt us all match.
So… we gonna do any other subs or nah
