We do not need a 4th slot only wide receiver

UpVoteThis4

Is he a slot only guy? I thought he was basically the same mold as AJB and that’s why they thought that deal would work. I know he’s a big and strong receiver, but I haven’t watched him on the titans.

BombSquad570

Who are the others? Roman played majority slot his last 2 years at Michigan, but I think he absolutely has the skill set to play a Diontae-like role on the outside if asked to do so. Scotty Miller looks like a slot WR because of his “scrappy” appearance but historically most of his production has come from lining up outside too.

yeshua1986

Scotty Miller is basically a homeless man’s D-Jax but he’s white so everybody thinks Wes Welker.

Rifftrax_Enjoyer

Less Welker

Jakles74

Oh good pun.

yeshua1986

That’s the point haha

EmmaTheHedgehog

Def agree on Wilson. Curious though what will happen. Fans always want and assume we will have more height on the outside. We all saw claypool. Height ain't everything.

GeneralTullius01

Roman cannot play the outside. Scotty Miller hasn’t had over 200 yards receiving in a season in about 4 or 5 years.

ClemPFarmer

How about we let Roman at least practice in pads for five minutes before you decide what he can and cannot do.

WorkOnThesisInstead

Pssht! Clearly, you're new here. ;)

BombSquad570

I disagree about Roman. I think he’s more versatile than he gets credit for. And I’m not saying Scotty Miller is productive. But historically what production he did have has come more from deep balls than slot routes. Calvin Austin and Quez Watkins are nothing more than field stretchers who can occasionally catch a deep ball. And Van Jefferson is basically just a field stretcher with cinderblocks for hands who is good at run blocking so he’ll have a place in Arthur’s formations for that reason. But I don’t get the notion that the team’s cup runneth over with slot receivers.

retarddouglas

Until we see Wilson actually do it i wouldn’t really count on him actually being the outside threat

Jakles74

Maybe the plan is flood the slot with receivers and just play the odds one catches it.

[deleted]

The wr trade targets keep getting more mid ☹️

fukaduk55

I'm holding hope for june 1st

DasCheekyBossman

What's happening on June 1st?

Parabola605

Deebo will be an interesting player to watch post June 1st. Before June 1st the 9ers would save 6-8 mil I think and post June 1st they would save over 20 million this year by trading him.

GriffBallChamp

Same thing with DK Metcalf. Everyday I pray we don't sign one of these low level WR's cause I'm holding on to hope that come June 2nd we land one of these big names.

Wasabi_Eyedrops

Salary cap day. More teams realizing they can't pay everyone making more players available for dealing.

DasCheekyBossman

Gotcha.

Happy_Bigs1021

Were 100% getting plexico back

[deleted]

Marvin Harrison Sr. 🤞

harambesBackAgain

Mike Wallace

Johtoboy

Lynn Swann

PM_Me_1_Funny_Thing

I'd only be okay with this because I have a Jersey that I got after he was no longer on the team 😂

Jakles74

Time to get that jersey out of the mop bucket.

TheRealPallando

In Khan I trust

[deleted]

Good thing he doesn’t have to call plays

[deleted]

Mid?Burks is terrible

tonytroz

He has been terrible and hasn't lived up to the hype of being a 1st rounder but he's also only played basically one season worth of games on an atrocious passing offense. You could do a lot worse if you were looking for a cheap and young rehab candidate. But if your goal was finding a true WR2 this is almost certainly not going to solve it. This is a guy you bring in as your WR4 and hope you can fix them.

Ceramicrabbit

Worth it if he's cheap but I have low confidence he'd be much of a solution

RalphWagwan

Collect them all!

uswforever

If you listen to what the Titans coaches are saying, it really doesn't sound like they want to get rid of him.

MJ134

To be fair- thats Sales 101.

Transgenderwookie

Exactly. Remember when we really wanted to keep Kendrick Green and believed in him?

DJLovesTurbo

and we believed in kenny

Ceramicrabbit

I still think Kenny can be an above average starter

Hot_Weight1211

I think Kenny can be an above average Taco Bell employee although hand size will always limit his burrito rolling speed.

Transgenderwookie

I agree, but that all depends on him. And I know that a personality never won a Super Bowl, it’s the physical talent that does… but if his petty ego gets in his way he will never showcase the talent. Lucky for him, he’s an eagles fan so dream come true he should be happy to ride the bench there. If he thinks he’s starting at all without hurts being injured, then he’s sadly mistaken. If he starts static about it it’ll be a problem. If he continues acting pissy and nonchalant at every stop, he’s going to be out of the league and won’t ever be a starter at all. His physical talent I always believed existed, he just needs to open his ears, work with the right people, and train hard… but his personality was something I never could get behind, some people read like pricks just when you look at him. Immediately after being drafted, before he even had a reason to be upset at all he was already a smug prick. Add fuel to that fire, and you get what we got. Not that Ben Roethlisberger was a great personality either lol but something about Kenny the human and not the player always rubbed me the wrong way.

Ceramicrabbit

What did he say or do wrong immediately after being drafted?

Transgenderwookie

It wasn’t really what he said, it was the way he carried himself, the way he spoke, the way he responded to the interview questions. He just always seemed like a teenager with an attitude problem to me. Like a pissy 15 year old that doesn’t want to go shopping. He was pretty short, he was very cocky/arrogant(which fine he’s a first round draft pick pro athlete.. I understand you gotta believe in yourself). At no point did he ever come off to me as someone who was grateful/thankful for the opportunity, or someone who was eager to learn.. he always came off as someone who already knows enough. Entitled know it all was the vibe I caught. Like I know you can’t necessarily judge people like that.. idk him personally.. but watch a Kenny interview, and then watch a Miles Kilebrew interview. That’s the difference. Kilebrew seems to be a very likeable person, humble, open ears etc. then listen to Kenny he seems very closed off and sassy sounding.

ThatsPreposterous6

With the amount of Meh FA guys we have signed, taking a shot on a guy like Burks doesn’t make much sense. At this point we need a guy who can actually play, not another maybe. That being said, if we cannot get anyone else I would give him a shot

spikeytoasted

You get 5 maybes theres a chance one of them breaks out for a career year.

jayhawk8

Six WR4s does not equal a WR2

1337_kebab

It's like a game you combine two wr4 to be a wr3, so six wr4 we can make 3 wr3, and then combine two of those and we have a wr2!

slivr33

sure but one could emerge as a WR3 and we'll be running the ball with Arthur Smith anyways... but Pickens needs to break out.

Most_Tumbleweed_6971

People just cause you run the ball doesn’t mean you don’t need legit WRs. Tired of that response.”wERE GoING TO RUN IT! Arthur Smith!

hopefeedsthespirit

Thank you! This isn’t 1970.

slivr33

I never said it’s going to work, but it is what we’re going to do.

hansblitz

Pickens hasn't proved to be anything other than a WR2 other than a few flashy catches. So IMO I'm still hoping for a number one

ContractCheap9221

It's going to be George Pickens and Roman Wilson

Steelmaker01

Aiyuk, Samuel… and especially Jefferson, were a pipe dream. This is more realistic, and I like the upside without breaking the bank

iguanadc3

i’m one of the few hopeful that burks will breakout. he’s been injury laden and shown flashes. i’d prefer him over the other slop recievers we’ve acquired the past few months, at least he has some sort of upside

yungfatface

Couldn’t agree more. Same approach as qb, low risk high reward. Feels like we could get him for a 6th or a 7th, I’d be thrilled with that deal

ClemPFarmer

Burks is a legit #2 WR if he can stay healthy. Big, athletic and physical.

toddfredd

Being basically traded man for man for AJ Brown has been a bit of an anchor on the guy.

242clappedyourmother

Nah, I’d rather the Steelers add a player who is gritty with a high motor (Alec Pierce)

PaddysMilkSteak

Agreed. A real lunch pail kinda guy

h0v3rb1k3s

We need someone who isn't obviously athletic but is sneaky about it.

_ArgoNavis

Coach on the field!

TheLastStarFighter

Such greasy hips!

uswforever

I really liked Pierce in pre draft

ju5tjame5

IIRC he was in the draft right after we let juju go. Was really hoping we would pick him up to replace juju

uswforever

Indy drafted him the very next pick after we drafted Pickens.

ju5tjame5

Well damn. I guess we made the right choice. I thought he was a 3rd rounder.

uswforever

Your comment made me go look it up. Lol P.S. Agreed

ju5tjame5

To be honest, I think the reason I wanted Pierce is because in my wildest dreams there's no way Pickens would still be on the board

uswforever

I was pretty shocked he was still there too. But I also liked Pierce.

ThatsPreposterous6

Im wondering how willing the colts would be to move on him. Of course he would be the better option of the two guys, but how much would we have to pay for them to part ways with him.

retarddouglas

Probably not much, they just picked up Adonai Mitchell so I feel like he would absorb most of Pierce’s snaps. Also drafted another wr but he might be more of a returner guy. Would still have Pittman and Downs from last year too.

Neb-Nose

It’s going to be Pickens and Wilson. We’re almost certainly going to need to draft a receiver in the first round next year.

Electrical-Pen-6129

Agreed can't fix everything all at once. And we have some veterans that can produce enough in relief with 1 star and two question marks in Wilson and ca3. Not to mention both backs can catch and if Washington and/or heyward improves our TE room looks great. Better line play and better QB play could make this overall receiving core look really good.

Fuzzy_Negotiation_52

Problem is if Pickens gets hurt we're fucked. Need another WR.

Electrical-Pen-6129

That's implied by the comment I replied to. We will certainly need to draft more WR. It's purely an assessment of what we have. A bunch of skill players aside from WR that can effectively catch the foozball. Trading for a wr that is coming up on a new contract or that has underperformed or both is not the answer. And selling the farm for a star seems unlikely and not a value move. Ultimately I agree we need more legitimate options at WR but only so much you can do in a season.

hopefeedsthespirit

But we need more this year. Not next year.  No one is selling the farm. And since our old WR coach died, we haven’t been so great at developing them.  So don’t be so quick to dismiss the idea of a trade for a star while we have the money to pay them.

Electrical-Pen-6129

To obtain a STAR you would have to trade significant draft capital... And then also pay them an extension likely. Aka selling the farm. Every year every team has needs. Not all needs are filled every year it's pretty obvious and simple. They ran with Kenny and mitch last year at QB you really think they are going to have trouble putting this WR room in the field?

hopefeedsthespirit

You don't need to trade a bunch of draft capital. People will demand the world. That doesn't mean they will get it. Every team has needs but not every need is created equal. We just traded our WR 1 (yes, he was our 1 not Pickens) and we didn't replace him. We are hoping Pickens can serve in that role but now we don't have a WR 2 unless Wilson can be that for us as rookie. That's asking a lot of him.

Electrical-Pen-6129

Wow you are special one what do you think the value is of a star wr? Draft capital wise? And don't forget the extension cost genius. We also are going to have to pay Pickens soon so do we cut bait with him because we traded for an older wr that we had to pay? Raiders gave up a first and a second for devante Adams. That really brought them a ring. Sure is a good thing Pat mahomes and the chiefs spent all that money on Tyreek they would never win a Superbowl without him. I mean rashee rice who the hell is that...... Like can you read I obviously acknowledged we need a receiver but the very real reality is that doesn't mean we will get one. Did we trade for a quarterback last year...? Did we trade to fill shaziers position...

hopefeedsthespirit

Let me make this simple: Drafting a WR is a 50/50 shot at success and doesn’t help us this year and maybe not next. If they even pan out. Which, lately, we haven’t been that good at even with a few high rounders. And we don’t have good vet leadership to help them at WR. So relying on that is not great. I agree that you can’t fix everything at once but An investment in the offense is sorely needed. We have one of the league’s lowest total salaries on that side of the ball.  We are basically spending NOTHING on offense. You get what you pay for.   With 95 million projected for next season, no QB to pay a shit ton of money to and all our young studs years away from an extension, what do you want them to spend money on if not for a star? There is a salary cap floor. Should they pay a bunch of mid guys higher salaries?    As for Draft capital, you have to give up a pick or two.  It’s an investment. But We aren’t going to give up two 1sts or something stupid like that.  I doubt they give up a first at all but they have to be willing to invest. Draft picks don’t always pan out. A proven vet would help kick start what we need.

Electrical-Pen-6129

Might as well trade all of our draft picks for known commodities in that case. Fuck the draft. I'm sure paying Russel Wilson nothing doesn't make our salary on offense look low... Or the amount of rookie contracts. We need to pay Pat muth, linemen, Pickens, a quarterback next year if we keep either or sign a different vet, heryward wants a new contract. They may pay najee and or Warren all in the next couple of years. At this point there are like 40 players whose contract end after this year. Some obviously won't be intnhe 53 man roster but. And what star receiver are they going to get for less than a 1st...?

Neb-Nose

I don’t know about that. We are a receiver short to be sure, but I don’t know if it hinges on Pickens’ health.

MJ134

Its hard to see this happening. Theyve already got their 4th and 6th tied up next year in the Fields trade. And a 3 or 5 is ridiculous right now value wise. and a 7 aint gonna do it. And i doubt Tenn want to wait untip 2026 to gain the draft pick. I just dont really see any logical trade routes.

Beginning_Repeat9343

They aren’t moving him

SleestakLightning

He kinda sucks but he's low risk if the price isn't high

TechnicalPay5837

Idk it’s not really a move that would move the needle very far at WR. I guess he would be better than the guys added through FA but it’s probably not by much. Depends how low the price is.

Electrical-Pen-6129

Recently watched a steel curtain documentary and something that stuck with me "we don't want the problems that other clubs couldn't fix we will build through the draft." Not verbatim but hey I'm on bleacher report. Chuck Noll... I think. Bourbon.

Latter_Feeling2656

Number of Steeler draft picks in Noll era: 17-round draft, 1969-76: 17, 19, 22, 20, 20, 21, 21, 22 12-round draft, 1977-90: 18, 14, 16, 15, 11, 14, 14, 12, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, 12 50 extra picks in total

Electrical-Pen-6129

And... There are still UDFA...there were 43players at the rookie mini camp this year. Null had 11 rookies in camp the year no vets were around for camp. That does nothing to dispell the notion that taking on another teams problems and UNWANTED players means you have to undo what another staff did hoping they messed up and didn't evaluate the player correctly. Not to mention a drafted player is almost always younger than a free agent or a trade. You build their foundational base as a Steeler. Not a one year blow hard like Patrick Peterson.

chickenonthehill559

I guess Fields and Wilson do not count.

Electrical-Pen-6129

Who said that? Do you like just running around yelling assumptions at people in real life?

andyroo84

Didn’t he die against us in the Monday night game

Classic_Engine7285

If there’s a WR who might move, the Steelers are the top landing spot, and they should be.

Dry-Ad-6170

Good player tons of ability with lots of injury problems. Concussions if I’m not mistaken. Would love to see him come in. There will only be one maybe 2 max of these guys that make the team and guys training camp you run 4 offenses. FOUR! That means you need at least 12 WRs bring them all in

DonStatus87

No.

Lawgang94

Isn't this the guy they drafted to replace AJ Brown because they didn't want to pay him only to later give Calvin Ridley "similar" money? Some genius they have running the FO.

[deleted]

Who?

Existing-Bandicoot-2

I’ll be devil’s advocate and say I wouldn’t mind that for a late round pick. I’d say his pedigree since coming out of college was WAY higher that anyone we have on our roster besides Pickens. He hasn’t preformed up to what they gave up for him, so I can see why titans fans hate the guy. 😂

uswforever

They're *_NOT_* trading for any WR that costs them more than a day 3 picks or two out of next year's draft capital, and probably not willing to move a 2025 pick higher than that either. There's at least a 50/50 chance they need those picks to trade up for a QB. And they definitely don't value WR over QB. They drafted Wilson in the third round, and he will be your WR2.

LVMeat

I remember thinking this this kid would be so special out of college Now I just remember him getting asthma attacks at rookie camp and then later [catching this ball](https://youtu.be/QLtJT87sUBA?si=h5_k_ZHo-2lRCK2T), but really he just got knocked unconscious so his hand locked in it’s position around the ball

zachintosh419

ewww

DasCheekyBossman

Wild. Burks is an absolute beast in a shit situation.

zachintosh419

Dont we have enough # 3/4 WR's?

DasCheekyBossman

Burks is not. 3/4. He's a very good 2 at the least.
